    I never imagined to look for this kind of video. The garage remote got stolen from my wife’s car and that too from our driver way. Crazy times. Crimes have skyrocketed in last few years specially.
    Thank you for your help.

    Shanon, I managed State prisons all my adult career. There are many slimy people in this world and just because you work hard to have what you have they think they have a right to take that from you. It appears you discovered how vulnerable you are and took the measures to secure your property before you were a victim. I applaud you for doing that and bringing that vulnerability to our attention. Keep the great videos coming. We appreciate your passing on your knowledge and experience.

    My wife just lost her remote so I ordered replacements from Amazon. When I went on RUclips to search for reprogramming, yours was at top of the suggestion heap...and with good reason. Simple, clear instructions. Thanks! So much crime with no consequences these days. I think the world's at a tipping point. Stay safe!

    This is good to do even for when you first move in, just like changing locks, so extra keys and remotes that are still out there don't work.

    I’m glad nothing was stolen from your garage. There is so much crime it makes me angry. My co-worker had her brand new locked Toyota SUV stolen from her driveway while they were sleeping last week here in Ottawa. Cars are being taken nightly in this city. Never to be seen again. The crime map shows house breaks and car thefts all over the city. There are many people involved in crime and the risk is prison, yet they do it anyway. I’d say a good percentage of people lack intelligence. It’s actually a blessing that your door was opened half way or you may not have noticed that someone was tampering with your remote.

    I hope the "dirty bugger" wasn't just casing your stuff for a later date. Kinda wish you had the old code. Out in the country, with a backhoe, I'd consider getting a new opener just to leave the old one plugged in somewhere attached to a discrete alarm (or in the bedroom to really get the BP/HR going for the occassion)... Thank you for your hard work. Please get a security system. You help us out so much that your woe becomes a bit of our own. Don't forget about the windows as a route of entry.

    It's a bit of a pain but whenever I park my car outside I bring my opener in the house with me. Especially if you have an attached garage, there have been a number of break ins in my area where thieves broke into a car, then opened the garage door and the entry door into the house was unlocked so they gained access to the house. Very important to not leave the opener in your car.

    Unfortunately this isn't completely correct.
    I held my button down till my light turned off.
    Tried my Opener. Awesome it wouldn't open my door.
    So I went to reprogram my Opener, somehow my cars Homelink still opened my door even after the erase, and reprogram.
    It seems to use the same code to reprogram, regardless of erasing and reprogramming. So the old controller will reactivate.
    I'm wondering if the clicker also has to be erased, then both can learn a new code.
    I'm still looking for the answer.

    Often thieves will come back, I had someone steal the keys of my motorbike, when they broke into the house, I then kept the bike chained (cable) up in my alarmed garage. They came back on a Sat morning and tried to take it when I wasn't home. A neighbour watched them revving the engine and dropping the clutch, but going no where. Fortunately, there was only minor damage.

    • @HouseImprovements
      @HouseImprovements  7 месяцев назад

      Your codes can be deleted from the vehicle using the vehicle manufactures procedure. Look up how to delete codes from your vehicle opener buttons by searching for that specific vehicle information. It has nothing to do with your opener itself.

    • @joeb4349
      @joeb4349 7 месяцев назад

      Yes, it just amounts to turning on the ignition and pressing the two buttons on the roof of the vehicle until the little red light flashes. This took about 20 seconds. Then it's all erased and it did not change other remotes and did they need to be reprogrammed. Easy. But the owner's manual did not mention this. Thanks for getting back.@@HouseImprovements

    Probably some kid in your neighborhood was playing a prank on you to spook you. Keep your car doors locked in the driveway. In my, otherwise safe neighborhood, police have indicated that one of the most common crimes happen in the early hours of the morning because of that. Kids go around and find unlocked vehicles to steal valuables.
