Lake Beli kamen near Mt. Fruska gora (Discover Serbia!)
The gem of Mountain Fruška Gora or at least so they say.
Lake Beli Kamen, meaning White Stone.
It was named after the color of the gravel that the Beocin Cement Factory used to excavate from here.
Since the 1980s, the pit has gradually been filled with water, reaching the depth of 50 meters today. Water level has steadily been increasing.
Once, it used to be teeming with fish, but nowadays, only shoals of small fish remain in the shallows.
Due to excess fishing, there is not so much fish left, but one can still see an occasional common rudd, Prussian carp or silver carp.
