He does not look like he was on coke during the interview, but this was a rough time for him. Were you aware of the shape that he was in at that time? He looks 20 years younger now, 20 years later. His sobriety is an inspiration.
Actually he's always seemed fine with me - even when he was in a darkened suite in the Kahala Hilton in Hawaii because he didn't like the sun (so why go there for a holiday?) he was the same old Elton with me. Perhaps I just don't notice these things.
Good point Lurker; I have forwarded it to Sir Dwight but fear that he always believed in Sacrifice more (commercially rightly) and mentions to me every time that it was he who insisted on a DOUBLE A side for the rerelease and that Sacrifice was the bigger by far!
Maybe I'm different but I don't consider his piano-less 80s period a failure but rather a different direction. I liked his singles, liked Healing Hands and Sacrifice. You'll always have some, I think, who will feel that if it's not hard driving rock, or orchestrated rock opera, then it's garbage. But in my opinion, outside of Part Time Love and Wrap Her Up, Elton's never released anything bad to the public in his life.
Both Sacrifice and Healing Hands had videos but, since they flopped on first release, they may have made fresh ones after we mnaged to get them re-released and re-promoted. Elton still insists that, whilst it WAS my idea to re-release them, since my favourite was Healing Hands and his was Sacrifice, HE deserves some credit (which I grudgingly give him).
Healing Hands is one of my favorite songs also. It's so very positive. It would be great if he would dust that one off and sing it again.
OMFG ELTON IS WEARING A DETROIT HAT! That's my home!!!!!!!!!!
sleeping with the past, was the best album for me
greetings from chile
song:sacrifice, durban deep and healing hands

Very informative. Thanks for posting.

I feel quite sorry for JK, I know he got busted, but i used to like Entertainment USA, and its a pity some people didn't stand by him
Fascinating interview Jonathan, but what's with the dirty tennis shoes in conjunction with the nice two piece suit?
he did there is an audio recording just type in elton john healing hands live
What is that Sacrifice video? I'm extremely interested in what that is.
King claiming to be the reason for Elton having hit records again. What nerve, and what arrogance.
I think the sneakers matched Elton's overalls. In all seriousness, if that was your idea-- good move. Two of my fav EJ songs.
MAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So are you still interviewing artist?
@busterbrown426 obviously
thats what i was gonna say.
Both Elton's music and his persona had a charisma and magic in the 70s which was slowly lost..
he looked like a farmer or a decorator in them clothes
