    Gorby came to Cuba to give Fidel a Judas kiss. Fidel saw right through him as he stated many times after that.

    My best guess, the footage came from an East German TV broadcast, due to the commentator sounding German at the start.

      ncr veteran ranger They acted cordial but Fidel and the Communist Party of Cuba was critical of Gorbachev and his reforms. They thought it was counter-revolutionary and some high ranking members of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union had gotten tired of backing Cuba up all the time and being their supplier. It's sad given how both nations were a team for many years in a lot of areas.

      Because of the US embargo, they had to have a generous sponsor in the Soviet Union. In turn, the island was a great psychological base for the Soviets to spy on the enemy of the world - the USA.

    • @ijohnmack
      @ijohnmack 5 лет назад +10

      Clarification is required: the only time you salute an anthem is, if you're in military uniform , otherwise you do not salute in civilian clothing.
      It has nothing to do with disrespect, just protocol.
      I trust this helps!
