    Canon have really saturated their own range with these releases. The 77D, 80D, T7i and mirrorless M5 are all so similar in terms of specs and overall price range. I think Canon would have been better just releasing either the 77D or T7i rather than both.

      Rebel and the T3i series the same (I THINK). They are also the same thing as the triple digit. The triple digit is the European name and T3i rebel is the American name. That part is definitely redundant/confusing for sure

    I am very interested in your comparison of the T7i, 77D and 80D. I wonder what the difference would be if you were only interested in picture quality for stills. On paper it seems like they would all be equal for still pictures given the similar specs. What am I missing? I don't care about the bells and whistles, just picture quality for stills.

    Hey Jared thanks for updating us on the Canon line. I was in the store to day looking at these two models, trying to replace my Rebel T3. To me they are about the same. If you refer to your Nikon video, Canon could drop a few models as well. It's only creating confusion for consumers having a camera for every $100-$150 more they might have to spend. A note about back button focus. Many people point out the lack of a dedicated button on the rebels, How ever even on my T3 I was able to turn on Back button focus in the custom function menu. I think Canon believes most users looking for it are going to spend the extra $100-$150. Yet it's there on the $300 T3 if you turn it on.

    Hi, I'm about to purchase my first DSLR body, and I'm a bit confused between canon 77d and Nikon d5600. Both fall under my budget constraints. I mainly want to focus on stills although shooting my pets will require nice continuous focus, and low light performace is a big concern for me. I do get that this is more kind of deciding between Nikon and canon family.
    I plan to get Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 and a brand names 50mm f1.8 for whatever body I get in the start.
    It would be really great if you could help get the situation simplified for me. Maybe a dedicated video as this seems to be a problem with many these days..
    thanks in advance..

    I'm currently shooting with a T5i and just purchased a new 70D on clearance for $600 but now I'm torn. I mainly shoot videos for my channel but do enjoy taking photos and posting to Instagram etc... I mainly wanted to upgrade for faster autofocusing, better low light, crisper video/photos and wifi. I see that the T7i and 77D both have Bluetooth which means my phone could always be connected, making a post to social media a little quicker but is it REALLY useful? Should I keep the 70D because I got a pretty good deal for it being new? is the T7i worth the extra $150? or should I try and save an extra $300 (I know $300 may not be a lot to some but I'm on a budget) to get the 77d or maybe an 80D(although it doesn't have Bluetooth) since some websites are showing it to be similar in price to the 77d (wonder how legit that is though lol) Cleary all of these options are better than my T5i but I'm torn as to which option gives me the most bang for my buck. HELP!

    I think that 4K does need to trickle down to consumer cameras, computers and softwares is growing better and better. Anyone that is editing in premiere or final cut probably has a machine strong enough to render and export 4K. You can also use the 4K advantage for cropping, or digital camera movements. 4K has a lot of ups to it aside from just having a "crispy image".

There is a reason why last year, even in the mirrorless field, Canon placed themselves second(after Olympus and before Sony), and in the dslr they just killed it, although all the armchair photographers(a lot of them trolls) are bitching about their cameras here, on youtube, and dpreview

    • @aurelienana178
      @aurelienana178 7 лет назад

      Canon can do 3x zoom without loss of quality during video. It does this by using the center pixels instead of outer pixels. The T6S and 80D can both do it. It turns a 100mm lens into a 300mm lens for free. It is the most amazing feature on Canon cameras.
      It is under video options. But since the 77D can use 5 axis IS, and it uses a tiny crop to do, I am wondering if it still has 3x video crop.

    What's up with Canon's new kit lens? A smaller slower f4-5.6 lens is going backwards. Why did they not upgrade say to a f2.8-4. lens. A faster kit lens to most folks would have been the smart thing to do.

    It seems to me that not being able to adjust ISO in 1/3 stops makes the 77D significantly less useful for video than the 80D. A real shame. I was pretty excited about it right up until you dropped that tidbit.

      Rich Barrett well the 77D is more like the Rebel line. It even uses the same batteries.

      I agree, but it appears to have more of a 80D form factor, and everything else makes it seem like a less-expensive 80D.

    Which one would be better upgrade from 70d?? 77d or 7d mark 2

      Rafiul Alam the 80d or 7d2. the 77d is more like a better rebel like the one before with the smaller top lcd. so if you want a lot of speed for fast action go with the 7d2. what do you don't like about your 70d? what do you hope to get from a new body?

    I mean there's a market for this camera, but it kind of shits on itself... this would compare to the Panasonic GX850, but that camera is almost $300 cheaper. Then there is the Olympus Pen series, which is higher in price, but has in-body stabilization... plus, being MFT, they have an extensive lens collection that far exceeds the native limits of the EOS-M. I'm sad that Canon is still under-doing it, but happy to see the success in the mirrorless world and predict a serious body and more lenses within the next year or so. good info, Jared!

    Do you think the Canon 77D will drop the price of the Canon 70D?

      I would buy the 77D over the 70D

      How significant of price drop do you think it would be? I own a 70D right now and I've been considering switching cameras and this is definitely pushing me to be more urgent. I hate losing money on gear.

      would u buy 77d over 80d?

    • @nitroganzpower
      @nitroganzpower 7 лет назад +1

      Louis Luzuka definitely no, 80D is better build and it offer more capabilities than the 77D. just compare the top LCD between 77D & 80D u already have the answer. The rest hidden the menu button will surprise you.

    I don't think that the 77D is worth 200$ more just for a top lcd screen and a dial in the back.. I think I'll get the 800D and with those money I saved I'll spend it for a lens or something..

    If I can have the 77d at lower price (699) than the t7i, I think its the better option. Or not?
