Every single one of his videos seem so chill and positive where other videos about music techniques stress me out and make me feel behind. Thank you Alex!!!
I had a misunderstanding about music theory that stumbled my production. I didn’t quite grasp that in a major scale, there are minor chords but in a minor scale, those same minor chords from the major scale are now major chords. This video really cleared things up for me and I’m excited to write some chords now. Thanks, Alex. Best tutorials on RUclips, no doubt.
This Video is so simple and short, but it is very helpful if it makes you think over what you are doing (that's what happened for me) or you learn something new altogether.
Such a cool video and how you make it understandable so the ordinary person can understand, great work! 🌞 ..& woww those harmonies on the major scale part would seriously make the perfect trance tune ! ;)
Hey Alex that's beautiful that's why i joined up with your course even though I'm using FL. hope to master FL soon so i can more easily complete your course
I've always incorporated the generic four chords i-vi-iii-vii to my songs. I mean I've always loved songs with that progression and... i don't know, I can either make a happy or a sad song with the same chords, depending on the melody.
This is so helpful I currently use fl studio but I’m still able to recreate some of your steps. Could you possibly do a video on creating dark edm music? I’m not really sure how to recreate that.
I know a little theory, little, lol. It appears the lead notes A#, G#, D# are not in the Key of C... but they still sound good over the Chords. I thought you would be picking notes out of the C scale as lead notes. This may be a little advanced for me. Thanks for the video! It shows me a way to move forward with the little bit of theory I know.
I'm glad you're not one of those musicians that always considers the first chord the 1. So many silly conversations why I look at D C G as 5 4 1 not 1 b7 4.
It's not about watching videos and wasting your time on strategies, I was ignorant doing so. So I decided to try Mrs sofia and ever since then she's has made about $14,000 for on every $5,000 I invested just
Thanks a lot bro ,you really make me interested in chords, keep it up.......by the way can you recreate the song cover of FIX YOU for me Alex...... please🙏
I noticed that in the C major chord progression, once you added the melody you added some notes that are not in the C major scale, I'm a bit confused by that since im new to chord progressions, can you explain a bit around that?
Hi Alex. This is a very interesting video. Please tell me what are you doing to copy your chords and move them entire chord to another location. Like making another chord sound. I would appreciate it if you can tell me this so I can speed up my recording process.
I am used to record melodies from my MIDI keyboard. Trust me, I can't even think how he is just clicking and clicking in the piano roll to make melodies. 😅
When you added the top melody to the major prog you did so almost entirely out of CMaj. Was there a reason for this or was it just a feeling thing? I found it quite dissonant.
C was the leading tone. A single note is neither major nor minor. Major and minor describe the interval between the notes. The note "c" is present in both the c minor and C major scales/keys. In the case of C major it is actually the tonic of his chord progression - or the main note of the key he was playing in. The dissonance your referring is the sound of a seventh interval - which is still in key.
I Want to ask you a question.. When i export my song from flstudio to wav or mp3... The sounds quality is very poor..also just to be clear, I'm using flstudio on mac, not using windows or may be that's the reason.. Is n't it?
It's the 5th degree. The root (the 1) combined with only the perfect 5th is a power chord. Add in your 3rd and it will either be a major or minor chord. So you got root 1, major/minor3, then perfect 5th. Those three notes combined is a chord.
I've been looking for a video like this, I struggle making good chords. Always sounds so basic me using 3 notes. I need more videos like this. I want to make music like what James Blake or Labrinth post on their Instagrams playing piano live (not even their Spotify music exactly, just how they play the piano)
I bought his course 2 years ago and it has helped me a lot!!!! it's worth every dime.
thanks Jason! Hope things are going well with you.
@@AlexRome everything's fine :)
I’ve been considering getting his course too, where can I buy it? The link in the desc kind of confused me😭
Yeah but 400 is a fuck ton of dimes
Something about a new Alex Rome video just brings something out in me. This is the most informational, yet cozy content on production RUclips

I LITERALLY LOVED THE LAST "C MINOR CHORD PROGRESSION" STARTING WITH THE FOURTH CHORD!!! 😍😌

Just smiled alone when u play this chord
Amazing video, helps a lot!!!
In germany we say „Dur“ („dewr“) for a major and „Moll“ for a minor
Thank you!!
Really nice! Thank you 🌻
Good stuff brother keep it up 🔥😁

Mrs Sofia is the best, recommending her to all beginners who wants to recover from their losses and gain more like I did through her strategies.,
Who's this professional everyone is talking about I always see her post on top comment on every RUclips video I watched.
I think I'm interested how can I get in touch with Mrs sofia...
I'm from Germany I used to take loan from the bank for surviver but after trading with expert Mrs sofia she changed my financial status for real..
I'm now a creditor not debtor anymore..

Can you please make a mixing & mastering course or series? My production is okay but my mixing & mastering is terrible😂

Them headphones damn!!!! They good? Big price tag -KH
“The 1 and 4 chords carry the most emotional weight”
The minor 6 chord: 👁️ 👃🏾 👁️

Good Job
Very Very nice video
Where did you get that vocal melody @ 8:05
👏👏👏
Thanks sir
I see you are switching to ableton. thats cool!
7:12 Is 7 y/o me describing what the other side of the pool is like
GOD
Wow😍
Sad, deep, emotions which BPM use?
Happy, love which BPM use?
Nice 😊
Forget the chords, where is this man getting the sounds from?
from his own preset pack I think 👌
Hey Alex! Complete beginner here, what software do you use to make your music? Is it FL studio?
Ableton Live is what he was using in this vid
@@beau8823 thanks!
THAT VOCAL SOUND YOU USED IN THE END, is that part of your pack, if so which one cuz bro I want to use it
that vocal I found in Arcade by Output
@@AlexRome thank you very much
WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND IS THAT YOU PLAYING NOTES THAT ARE NOT ON THE C MAJOR SCALE ON THE LEAD MELODY OF THE FIRST PART
use Logic, please!
How you make lead Melodie’s? Like is there a rule so it don’t sound ass
we got something pretty deep😂
I am used to record melodies from my MIDI keyboard. Trust me, I can't even think how he is just clicking and clicking in the piano roll to make melodies. 😅
What was that website you referenced a while ago with links to professional engineers who I could hire to fine tune a mix?
@alexrome how do you find which chords are between I and IV (7:11)??
I always find myself hovering over minor chords LOL
When you added the top melody to the major prog you did so almost entirely out of CMaj. Was there a reason for this or was it just a feeling thing? I found it quite dissonant.
C was the leading tone. A single note is neither major nor minor. Major and minor describe the interval between the notes.

hi what program do you use? sorry. also, thanks for the awesome vid !
He uses Ableton
1:10 if someone doesn’t naturally hear and feel the difference between the major and minor scale they’re tone deaf and won’t do well making music
I Want to ask you a question.. When i export my song from flstudio to wav or mp3... The sounds quality is very poor..also just to be clear, I'm using flstudio on mac, not using windows or may be that's the reason.. Is n't it?
My chord progressions just got 21% better
Why did the first one make me feel more sad emotions?
3:35 7:40
which instrument is that?? 3:42
is this sound in one of your soundbanks? 5:30
You're not on spotify?
Not anymore. I’m currently working on new projects that will be based on Spotify. Will surely share some details on that here on my channel.
What’s a perfect 5th you didn’t explain that part at all
It's the 5th degree. The root (the 1) combined with only the perfect 5th is a power chord. Add in your 3rd and it will either be a major or minor chord. So you got root 1, major/minor3, then perfect 5th. Those three notes combined is a chord.
What synth is that
Good video but………. Thar fr**king shiny pixel down left….😤 Aughhhhhhhhh😩
What is the software used in this video please ?
Abelton 11
What program do you use to produce your music? I can't find it
He uses Ableton
Sir why my beats sounds bad after rendering on fl studio?😢
Like exponentially worse than when they are in the daw, or slightly worse?
@@AlexRome on the daw they sounds better but after rendering outside the daw the sound changes n sounds so low 🤧
You look like the guy who created anime war🤞
good video but, putting again the tonic in the top just make it sound disonant, i will not do that
What headphones are those???
They are Audeze LCD X. Highly recommend!
I've been looking for a video like this, I struggle making good chords. Always sounds so basic me using 3 notes. I need more videos like this.
I want to make music like what James Blake or Labrinth post on their Instagrams playing piano live (not even their Spotify music exactly, just how they play the piano)
I just tried doing this with these techniques but weirdly my 3rd and 4th chord just sound crap :( I dont know what im doing wrong
Look into Hook Theory it'll teach you how chords work with melodies =]
👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋
Что это такое ??
either those are the biggest headphones ever or your heads extremely tiny
both
I don't get your method, just use major/minor scales and the I and IV chords? That's like the most basic stuff ever
