I just took my dog out he is American Akita in Egypt and he was playing with water in the garden 😂 he is so funny and he make voices like grooo grooo 😂 ❤
This got me crying. My Akita, Khan, passed away in July of 2005. I've not been able to bring myself to get another yet. I miss him so much. He can be seen in my avatar pic. He was 120lbs of pure love. I could take him anywhere as we put in LOADS of time training and socializing him. The only animal he was outwardly aggressive towards were coyotes. Fine with me. My ex-wife was GM of a no kill shelter and he would follow her on her rounds. Like most shelters, the dog kennel was deafening due to dogs barking. He could walk in and do the "Akita grumble" and they'd all go silent. Even the Sharpei that would usually rush the cage door when you walked by would be quiet and keep his head down. I have no clue what Khan said but it worked ! He also enjoyed the cattery but some of the cats were a bit freaked out. He and our Siamese cat were tight friends. My sons thought that after 15 yrs without a dog was long enough for me so they bought me a Great Pyrenees pup. He's 2 now and a wonderful dog, though he barks anytime a fly farts in the neighborhood, but he's not an Akita. IMO, American Akitas are the finest dogs out there. I'll be getting another, I hope.
Don't, my Marcel died in my hands, he was 18, he was my boy, only people like us can understand this. He lived a wonderful life, here in NH, sooner or later, or maybe never, we will meet them again.

Yes. Socialize them. Get them out around other dogs as much as possible then do it some more. This works with MOST Akitas but some won't take to it. Hopefully, you will be able to at least cut down on aggression.

I would say that a good pup from a reputable breeder with parents registered at AKC or FCI with pedigree etc. would cost anywhere from around 1000 euro up, this may change depending where you live, but they can get pricey and I wouldn't recommend getting a cheap pup.
@misakenzotheamericanakitas4265 naw i love the best wouldn't go to some backyard breeders..that's what i paid for my last akita $1,000 like 18yrs ago..friends of mine been trying to give me a pup i declined cause i was traveling alot and i didn't have anyone to watch him..i don't trust dog kennels i don't want nobody creeping and breeding my dog
