I had two ceiling fans to stop working over two years ago. One was a broken pull chain. I had already bought two new ceiling fans to replace the two broken ones when I stumbled onto your VERY HELPFUL video. With your assistance, I was able to take the switch from one fan and attach it to the fan that needed a new pull chain. The wires were an exact match! I now can sleep under a ceiling fan again! I still have to replace the other fan, but, I will only have to pay someone to install only one for me...OR maybe you have another VERY HELPFUL video that could instruct me as to how to take down an old ceiling fan and install a new one! THAT would let me save even more money! THANKS, AGAIN!
Haha, so glad this was helpful. Here is the video we made replacing an old ceiling fan. Let me know how it goes. ruclips.net/video/VCucNF2PKyI/видео.html
On mine, the chain didn't break but something else did or got stuck. Is it possible to open the little box or do I just need to buy a new one and cut off the old?
This is awesome! Thank you! Mine broke in the light. I have taken it apart and I was unsure about the clipping and reattaching!! I am going to do this!
Hi recently my ceiling fan chain snapped off and I don't have a second light kit like you do here what do you should suggest and also the electricity tools Sorry if am not making any sense
Yes. You can looks for that specific switch configuration when you're buying it. some light chains are just on/off others make the lights com on in different orders. But if you get the right one it would be wire to wire.
We actually took the black section off the broken part while it was still attached. We were able to see the clips that were holding the wires, pry the clips to remove the wires, and one at a time push the wires into the new part.
The Venders at Homedepot don't have the exact parts they have a 3 speed by 3 wire only not a 3 speed and 4 wire :) checked 2 of them go to an electric supply store
Thank you so much I love your videos I did this repair and it works I had a motion switch and thought it was of and got a zap but other than that it worked!
Has to be a way to take the switch mechanism apart and put the chain back in it. I see two plastic tabs holding the cover on, but I can't seem to pry it loose.
Hi, great video! I'm in UK, I bought a replacement pull chain switch for my fan but it didn't come with the 3 wires included. I can cut the wires from the existing switch to use but how do I insert them into the pull cord switch? There's no screws for me to tighten the wires onto the switch. Can I just insert them and expect them to stay?
there are some switches that are like this. just push in the bared wired until you hear or feel a certain pop, then it means it went into the hole the right way and will stay in there.
Our guys are not cross trained. They pick a field and make that their career. They pick up things from working at a company like ours that does everything and they might decide to change trades but the company doesn't have a tech jump around from department to department. I've notice you ask this a couple times. Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Is there a specific reason you're asking?
Correct me if I'm wrong but why cut them you just pull them out like you're unplugging it and then plug it back in instead of cutting the wires I don't know if you know that 🤔 maybe I'm wrong
There's no need to worry about the ceiling wires either. As long as everything was installed properly, it is no different than working on the rest of the lighting fixture.
Am i the only one that noticed that when he turned the light off there was like a second delay? And that weird look he gave to the left right before I did. I smell inside job
Who knew watching a ceiling fan video would be entertaining. Thanks you!
Thank you so much for sharing how to do this. I was nervous but now feel confident that I can do it. 😊
As a single mom who can’t afford to hire help, this is soooo helpful! Thank you!
Thanks I think I’ll call the maintenance crew on Monday lol
Thank you so much! I'm so grateful to see how simple it is to fix the ceiling fan pull chains

Thank you for your help! I've never fixed a ceiling fan before and you made me feel more confident to do the job.
Glad I could help!
Thanks for the clear video , had to buy the switch but the procedure went smooth and it works again!

Same here, I'd love to just reattach the chain into the switch instead of having to buy a new one and rewiring it

Great to hear! Let us know how it goes!
Thank you for sharing this!!!
My little one pulled out mine
Extremely helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks for watching!
This is the clearest video on youtube what is your camera
Sony mirrorless. Not sure the exact model number. My team shoots most of them.
great vid it really helped. went to home depot and the fan piece looked different w/ only 2 black wires. luckily it all worked.
Just the video I needed, however my fan doesn't have the wire connection like yours, mines a small tube that won't disconnect 🙄
You’re a Godsend! Thank you so much. Subscribed!!
Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate you subscribing.
Thanks, fixed mine today.
Nice work!
How to I take off the cap for the pull chain?
What about a diff fan?
Are all fan wires equal?
Also, have to get same switch or doesnt matter?
So informative, great personality!
Hi recently my ceiling fan chain snapped off and I don't have a second light kit like you do here what do you should suggest and also the electricity tools
Sorry if am not making any sense
You can buy a universal replacement at most harware stores or online.
Thanks man. I was searching for this video.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
What if it is the chain for the light? Is it a similar process?
Yes. You can looks for that specific switch configuration when you're buying it. some light chains are just on/off others make the lights com on in different orders. But if you get the right one it would be wire to wire.
@@Anyhourservices amazing. Thank you for the reply
Thank you! Very helpful.
How about if the chain from t j.g e light broke off ... and I cant turn off the light
Great job ! As good and well done, just like a song from ABBA !! Thanks!
We actually took the black section off the broken part while it was still attached. We were able to see the clips that were holding the wires, pry the clips to remove the wires, and one at a time push the wires into the new part.
How were you able to pry it apart?
Is it safe to assume this is the same for the light chain? My scenario is opposite to this one. But the fan definitely came from home depot.
The Venders at Homedepot don't have the exact parts they have a 3 speed by 3 wire only not a 3 speed and 4 wire :) checked 2 of them go to an electric supply store

Sorry you got a zap but I'm glad the fix worked for you.
@@Anyhourservices so you don't have to shut the power off at the breaker then?
Loved it. Makes it look so easy!

Does your company train your employees in other trades or are they specialized?

Thank you so much. Just. Had. One. Go on me not feeling. As pissed off any more give I. Can more than likely fix. This
I was not able to see how the pull chain fit inside the housing
are you talking about the switching mechanism?
There's no need to worry about the ceiling wires either.
As long as everything was installed properly, it is no different than working on the rest of the lighting fixture.
I like this video
Cool 😎
thanks. Glad you liked it.
What about the light
Your SUPER!!!!!!!
Hey, back at ya!
My light switch is broke
Wow thanks! If this girly girl can do it so can anyone!
It’s always the kids!!!!
Way too complicated.
