“I want my tradition to flow from truth”.
Am I living my life according to the traditions of men or the truth of God?
An unquestioned belief system is a dangerous thing.
Where did this come from?
I want to know God's heart this year, God's thoughts.
I would rather my traditions to flow from my truths and my life to reflect my values.
Where it shows up is not necessarily where it starts.
Where it comes from determines how it comes out.
I will pay attention to the pattern of thoughts I allow to come into my heart this year.
So Jesus was mocked, tortured, buried but Heaven wasn't nervous... we know where He came from so we know how He comes out.
My help comes from God so I know how this turns out. I already KNOW the outcome!
No more! If it's not from God, I'm taking it off!
This message spoke to me on so many levels. I've been through a few storms in the last few months, and have suspected there is something bigger behind it. God put love in my heart for a very difficult man. I have always had a good feeling, even in the storms, so I know God is telling me not to worry. I know God started a good work within us when he brought us together and put love in our hearts, and within myself when it comes to helping him find and accept Jesus, and praying relentlessly on behalf of him in the meantime. He doesn't like being vulnerable and often takes it out on me by pushing me away, and I've thought for awhile that it's because of his insecurities from his physical disability, because of little hints in things he has said, but hearing it in a sermon really gave me comfort knowing that was right, it wasn't anything I did, and that I can't fix him or let rejection and sadness stay in my heart. I need to leave it up to God so his heart can be renewed so he can accept both God's love, and mine, and believe that he is not "used parts" and it's not a curse; that he is perfect just the way he is, and that he IS worthy. I need to give it to God so He can give him a new heart and a new spirit. Our battle is already won because He started a good work in us, and He will finish it in His timing, and I will trust Him in the process! 🙌❤️

I may never physically attend an Elevation Church or meet Pastor Steven and that's ok, but I just wanted to make you aware of how this ministry has changed my life. God brought it about at just the right time; songs and messages. I've been a believer since I was 6 and I'm now a grown woman. However, over the past 11yrs I have been through the most difficult season I've had to date. I've depended on this ministry to keep me afloat through comfort, conviction, encouragement, etc. I am so thankful for Elevation and for God's amazing goodness😌

It's been so hard finding a church where I now live after college that I feel I can grow as much as I grow watching Elevation Church online. I grew up in church and I have always loved physically being in church but the past year I have been going to church online more than in person because of being in a new location and I have grown more than I ever have. Pretty amazing. Thank you Elevation Church & Paster Steven Furtick for being obedient and helping us grow.

I have found an organic church near me and go there for the worship, support and fellowship/family connections. My teaching is done online.
Whenever your ready for the move lets do it! I recently graduated college last may and want to move there as well for same reasons! Im going to visit saturday because its compelled in me too so i bought a ticket, house and car rent, and will be there this weekend!

Jesus show us how to flip it
Matthew 15
That Which Defiles
10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand. 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”
12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?”
13 He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. 14 Leave them; they are blind guides.[d] If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
15 Peter said, “Explain the parable to us.”
16 “Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. 17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts-murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”
FLIP IT - Don't fix things this year on a surface level - Don’t fix them at the level you see the problem - seek the Lord and ask him where the sewage starts .
Where something comes out is not usually where it comes from
He took their offense to talk about the origin
Am I going to go out through the new year living out of traditions or am I going to allow the truth of who God says I am - to give me new traditions.

The 3 points of this sermon
The Offense is that the Pharisees caught the disciples eating without washing their hands
Jesus is about to flip it.
Look back at verse 1
Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”
3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’[a] and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’[b] 5 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ 6 they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:
8 “‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
9 They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’[c]”
God wants to know which is more important - The traditions of men or the TRUTH OF GOD!
Are we going to live out of traditions or truth?
One is tradition and One is truth!
Some of us give more to our traditions than God's truth.
Where did this come from?
Did it come from God?
This is the year to FLIP IT.
This year I am not letting my truth flow from my tradition -
I want my tradition to flow from TRUTH.
I want my life to reflect my values, not necessarily my habits.
They think they know the truth - But He is the TRUTH!
The way the truth and the life -
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
The ORIGIN - Where is this coming from?
FLIP IT
It would be better for you to live according to truth rather than tradition
Jesus flips the offense and turns it into an opportunity
The OFFENSE is often the OPPORTUNITY
If you know how to FLIP IT
If you think external things are going to help - you will seek from external things
Where it comes out is not usually where it comes from
The OFFENSE to the Pharisees is the disciples did not wash their hands
The ORIGIN of Jesus's wisdom is heaven
The ORIGIN of the Pharisees is MEN
It's what you put in your body, things you put in your soul
Because the Pharisees only saw it on the surface and tried to deal with it in a surface level
If you think your going to solve things with more information - knowledge on top of an unwilling spirit
IE Where you put food in is not where it comes out
When I am angry - it's not that I am angry - I am afraid - it's where it comes out
I need to deal with why I am afraid
We spend our whole life mopping up the floor and we don't even know which pipe is leaking
Is this from God? ASK yourself where your anger is coming from?
Where it's coming out is not necessarily where it's coming from
You need to stop and understand where it is coming from in others lives
I need more discipline - Where is the need for more discipline coming from?
God might want to use your circumstances to work on your character.
We need to start from the inside out not outside in
Where it comes out isn't usually where it comes from
OUTCOME
Where it comes from determines how it comes out.
Matthew 15:19-20
19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts-murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”
Some of us really trust God and we are willing to go through it
But sometimes the devil slips something in that did NOT come from God!
We are walking around wearing things that did not come from God!
Jesus said - When what is in your heart - praise, gratitude, faith, etc - comes out!
If it is coming out as murder, lying, false witness, slander etc…
If that is what is coming out - that tells you where it is coming from.
They crucified him because they didn't know where he was coming from.
Jesus came from God so everything that came out of his mouth was TRUTH.
He came to fulfill the law.
When Jesus sent his disciples into a storm in Matthew 14
The disciples think they are going to die but he speaks to it and the storm stops
He used the circumstance
He knew the storm wasn't going to kill them - He was at peace in the storm
He knew what he came to do and it wasn't finished
When you know where your calling comes from you can be CONFIDENT IN HOW YOUR BATTLE IS GOING TO COME OUT!
Not one single angel was nervous when Jesus went to the cross!
Gabriel wasn't trembling
He existed way before - they knew how it was going to come out
FLIP THE FLOW
SINCE I KNOW WHERE MY HELP COMES FROM -
I KNOW HOW MY BATTLE IS GOING TO TURN OUT!
SINCE HE PUT ME IN THIS SEASON I WILL NOT DIE IN WINTER
I WILL SEE SPRING
If he spoke it!
Praise him for what he promised
For him hanging on the cross - He flipped the flow
Jesus said it is not the unclean that makes the clean unclean
We are made pure and clean through HIM
Nothing is going to make you clean except HIM - Not washing your hands, not going to church
He became sin that knew no sin ( 2 Cor 5:21)
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
The real trouble is my heart - that is where it's coming from
Today I want to FLIP IT
I want to see progress this year!
My shame is gone and my debt is paid.
Now I am ready to go forward.
Instead of HAND SANITIZER if we could get some HEART SANITIZER
Create in me a CLEAN HEART OH GOD (Psalms 51:10)
Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

'Where it shows up is not necessarily where it starts.' Whoa! This hit me between the eyes. I have anger and fear issues that God is delivering me from. I have a sense he will pull out a lot more that I didn't even know was there, and it will burn. But I know that healing is exactly what I need to flip the flow.

I came across a short sermon from Pastor Steven Furtick through Instagram. I was going through an emotional drought which actually was a spiritual drought. I felt like a walking zombie. Like a robot in my life with no purpose or hope. Just living day to day and not knowing why I was living. God sent you to me because once I heard the sermon, I felt something inside of me that was turned off for a very long time. I felt the Holy Spirit in me, I felt Jesus love in me. I realized God has a plan for me. That I needed to get close to him and accept him in my life. Ever since then I make it a point to start my day and end my day with God. I listen to Pastor Steven after praying and feel such motivation for my day. I tell Jesus I am his servant, I want to be his servant and help me be the best servant possible. This year I will come out dripping in the name of Jesus. Pastor Steven thank you for helping me realize all the miracles God performs for me daily like simply waking up another day. Yessss I listen to your Sermons fully and Wow I identify 💯. Thank you Jesus for having you as one of his great servant and helping us. I have been through so much in life and dwelled on what I went through, what I didn't have and why me! Instead of being grateful that Jesus helped me through my difficulties, he has given me so much and continues to give me. He has never lost hope in me, I lost hope in me and he kept pushing me so I could see my purpose in life. I didn't realize all the signs in front of my face that God showed me to realize he has always been with me. Hi- Thank you for sharing. I'm sure it has helped many who feel or felt just like you (going through an emotional/spiritual drought). I needed to mention that because you writing is in the "I" point-of-view, and I suspect God brought you to this message more for how you have the unique ability to validate + lift-up many others ("we, them, not I") who may be feeling just like You...(?) Think about it- And please keep sharing with others. God has a very important plan for your life, follow his lead, with love for your neighbors too, and you will find it, soon. (Pastor Steven shares this topic, and similar thoughts much better than I, but I wanted to contribute my thoughts, Me, an often lost soul, anyway). Blessings to you, always. Flipping from an "I" perspective, to "we and them" often changes everything. Jesus instructed us to do this, love God + our neighbors with all our heart + soul - And I'm fairly sure he intentionally left out loving yourself, in that statement (2 Greatest Commandments) - Important to love yourself, of course, but much easier to just naturally feel that way when you're certain God and your neighbors love you so much...I hope my message is welcomed, if not feel free to let me know.

Watching this sermon at this specific time of 2020 with the church full of people who would have never thought that the only crowds that would be together now would be for violent protesting. I think the flow for this time has definitely been flipped. Gods coming gets closer and closer!! Praise the name of the lord!

Amen! We need to stop complaining! Sometimes we think & say stuff like @i need to remove myself from toxic ppl or whatever but we don’t self reflect within ourselves to make a change! We need to purify ourselves in Gods Word daily! None of us are perfect! We all fall short of the glory of God but don’t forget these things when a sinner judges another sinner! Doesn’t matter what sin we struggle with-We are saved by His grace! We continue to stay on path the best that we know how we cant do it on our own but thats when God steps in! We cant but with Him in us; we can! Fill your heart with love for Christ thru His Word and the outpouring of our hearts will come out of our mouth and will turn into an action! Love others! This was a great message. God’s truth is more important than man’s tradition. We got so much out of this message and it all points to Jesus and getting to the root! Bless you all! Looking forward to more!

This sermon reminds me of the year I cancelled Christmas. I woke up one day in late December and realized my family and most of the people around us had misconstrued the meaning of Christmas to a level that left a really bad taste in my mouth. People (as they were) heard this and made plans to provide my children with gifts, and I, I rolled my eyes alllllllllllll the way to The Heavens and prayed that the world would either evolve or else. Some years later I evolved and fell into Elevation church and now attend a church where I can pray for all of the stupid people I left behind, less evolved and probably still buying stupid expensive Easter baskets and mumbling about that woman who cancelled one of the most depressing holidays in America.
This message is so anointed and powerful! So blessed by this church & pastor. Keep flipping the flow 💪🏽
Holy Spirit gave you that piece on rejection (19:06 - 20:12) for me. This “just happened” to me, and what you said, just opened my eyes and helped heal me. Thank you so much! May God continue to bless you and all you love!

What challenged me the most is that I should not just look at the surface of the problem and I should not negate the grace of God in my life by doing my own cleaning of my dirt. That challenged me the most because I was that type of person where I always think that I should always be clean & righteous when I'm seeking God's presence but thru this preaching, my perspective has been changed. 👌💕 What a message!
