    I’m so glad that I found your video! I’ve been struggling with making a decision between the Loop and Flare brands for months now and I’m tired of waiting. Having watched this video intently and reading some of the comments I’ve decided I’m going to try the Flare pros. Thanks again for your help!😊

    Im here to tell that i started with loop as it was being raved and the publicity is insane , I HATED THEM. For me the sound was worst in every aspect and my inner voice .. just no. Then it came the flare, started with the normal calmer ones and later bought the pro and these are my favs, they saved me from going insane on my workplace , on the supermarket, on the airplane. Everything sounds better, clearer and the pitch noises are way less. I can wear them for hours and forget about them, when i take them out it always WOWs me how i have been protecting myself from stupid noises from the world.

      Yeah, I can related to talking issue with the Loops - I only usually wear them recently if I’m in an environment where AirPods would be rude, but I need to cut background noise to an appreciable level. Which, realistically, makes them just easy to put in and take out earplugs 😅
      I am curious to try the new switch ones, but given the design is ultimately similar, I can’t imagine the same issue not being present.

    Totally agree with this! I had flares for a year and loved them for dealing with my kids ect. I lost them in true ADHD style and thought I'd try the Loops. I do not like hearing my voice and the muffled effect means I cannot have conversations in a normal setting like at home. The Loops are more comfy and don't fall out like the fares did alot of the time. I love the funky colours of the engage too. I may have to repurchase my beloved flares it seems 😅

    Thank you SO MUCH for doing this explanation and comparison. It is Exactly what I have been looking for. I had even spoken to my doctors about suggestions, and the feedback from them was the ever common, and completely unhelpful, "Innunnoo" (and yes, it always sounded as dumb as I typed it). Your description of your experiences was very clear, very precise in their various applications and gave me great information of what to look for and how to use them. I ended up seeking a diagnosis after years of suspecting I might have it because it's gotten to the point where my APD has become more extreme. I find it extremely difficult to engage in conversation anywhere that's noisy and find myself absolutely exhausted from all the effort it takes to listen to people. There aren't really any treatment options in my area, so I was really hoping someone out there had some advice about things that I would have access to where I am. Lately they have started to make squeaking noises when I put them in, and this is really annoying. I have ordered my first Loops and wait for them to arrive. And I guess I will try the Calmer ones as well. Because I am a nerd and have to make a study out of everything. The one thing you didn’t mention is, do you hear your own breathing. I really like the flare calmers, and I've got different kinds of loops, but I only use the Quiet for sleep, since the occlusion effect is no problem there.
    I've also got the Engage and the Experience and it's worth it to try different sizes and experiment with putting them in in different ways.
    If I use smaller tips and screw them in, so they fit like the flare calmer, more deeply in the ear canal, the occlusion effect disappears. I'm still not a big fan of them, but this way they are more useful for social situations.

      I hope they help! As I say, they don’t really block any noise, just kind of filter it.
      I still find them all very situational; flares if I’m feeling like the background noise might overwhelm over time, loops if I’m already feeling like it’s getting too loud, and AirPods if I want to block everything out, or be able to hear conversations better while reducing background noise.

    I really hate putting things in my ear. I tryed those foam earplugs and they are so uncomfortable and always fall out. Inear headphones are starting to hurt me when I whear them too often so I'm not sure if these feel like normal earplugs.

    • @jerry
      @jerry  Год назад

      It's definitely hard to accommodate yourself in a discreet way when you hate having stuff in your ears, I imagine.
      The loops do very much feel like in-ear headphones, rather than earplugs, so I wouldn't recommend them. I'd probably not recommend the Calmer Pro either, as the rigid aluminium can feel quite solid.
      Flare do a Calmer Mini, which is smaller than the standard Calmer, and is silicone, which may not irritate your ears as much. I've yet to try those though.
      Loop also do a softer version, the Loop Quiet, which is entirely silicone and designed for sleeping in, so are likely softer, but again, not tried.

      Idk if this is useful to you but here is my experience: I used to have the same pain from earplugs and finally found earplug for techno parties that don't hurt or get itchy. They are called sonic earrocker red.
      They protect your ears from loud music (especially dangerous high frequencies) very well and the soft matte silicone feels so much better than the smooth transparent silicone I had before. The silicone is softer than in ear headphones. A big plus is the tiny air canal im the center that prevents pressure in the ear.
      I sometimes use them in other circumstances however they block out so much sound that you hear yourself talking louder which makes me very uncomfortable. Which is why I checked out this video.

    This kind of pushed me over the "do I really want to spend $40 on this?" hurdle for the Calmers. I have every pair of Loops except the Switch and all of them hurt my ears, but I have Bose QCII Earbuds that only make them sore on my most sensitive days where it's the weight that hurts, and I think it's the shape?
    My ears are weird and hate me. Circular earplugs/earbuds hurt my ears like nothing else. But the ones that are ovular don't. So I'm hoping that since these will be light, they won't hurt, and since they'll be shaped sensibly they also won't hurt.
    Here's hoping. 😔

      I really just need sound to be less... sound-y. I don't need to not hear, I just need to not feel like being deaf would be a better alternative to being constantly overwhelmed and not able to fix it without constant head pressure.

    • @xzscvbnm
      @xzscvbnm 9 месяцев назад +3

      Alright, I'm back, let's recap. I fricking LOVE them. They do have an effect, and I do feel calmer. It think that because the way into my ear is smaller, and because the material that sound is bouncing off of in my ear is different, it sounds different.
      Sound bounces off of practically everything it can, so my theory is because it has less places to bounce off of my fleshy humie parts, and when it's entering my ear it bounces off of the Calmers, it gets a bit dampened before it hits my eardrum. Idk though I'm not some sort of sound physicist or audiologist.
      I'm a vouch for the calmers though. Your ears don't feel plugged up, you barely feel them at all once they're situated right, and there is zero in-ear pressure.

    Calmer vs calmer pro?

    • @jerry
      @jerry  Год назад +4

      I now have a pair of each and I'll aim to make a comparison soon.
      To shortly summarise my thoughts though:
      - The Calmer Pro do appear to provide slightly clearer sounds - but it's not massively detectably, except in certain cases.
      - The Calmer, being softer silicone without the metal insert, are much more comfortable to wear, at least for my ears - the Pros are much more solid comparatively and I found this to cause a slight aching feeling after a couple hours of wearing them.
      - The Calmer Pro don't deform, and so they provide a more consistent experience - I find that the Calmer deform slightly differently depending on where they're placed in ear and so when walking and moving around, the sound profile can shift.
      I can wear Calmer all day sometimes - though they can get a bit itchy feeling at times. I can only wear the Calmer Pro for a couple of hours at most, making them more situational.

    I have the loops quiet, great for sleeping but after a few hours your ears hurt. I bought the engage pro and returned them because it didn’t block out enough noise. I have the experience pro and they are great except like he says you can hear your own voice super loud and I can’t tell if I’m yelling. I want to try the calmer ones thanks to this. I get migraines and noise sucks so I try to reduce any unwanted noise so I don’t die😂. I love the loops look but wish they were more comfy and reduce our own voice. Also they are easily lost. I’m on pair #4 😂😩 but I can say is I’m not afraid to have crying yelling children anymore cause I can pop these lil guys in 😂

    I have a weird question does anyone else have a weird noise with their AirPods when they’re not listening to anything and just have them on silent or transparency mode maybe it’s a me thing but there’s like this weird buzzing almost sound and it’s not just my pair this is the third pair of AirPods(always the pros) I’ve owned and every single one has done it it drives me nuts

      It’s probably tinnitus. You can only hear it when it’s silent. The AirPods block all the noise, so your brain makes up some noise bc it isn’t used to silence

      Yeah - this is a pretty common issue I've seen discussed online with airpods pros. For me there is a very slight static noise I can hear (especially when on the noise cancellation mode).

      In my experience, some bluetooth headphones exhibit a high-pitched whine only on one side when they are not paired with a bluetooth device and are searching to be paired. It disappears when you pair them and can remain that way even if you disable the bluetooth of the paired device.

      That’s funny, because my mouth was actually super dry 😅
      I’m really out of the habit of making videos and so this version was a very cut down combination of my final attempt after an hour or so of talking.
      Really should try and make a teleprompter 😂

    ADHD is a trauma response. Heal your trauma and your ADHD will heal with it. Meditation helps. But therapy is necessary.

      ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder with a range of genetic and pre-natal environmental risk factors.
      There’s was a super handy meta analysis paper written in 2021 called the World Federation of ADHD Intentional Consensus Statement, if you’d like to know more about what causes ADHD: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S014976342100049X
      That isn’t to say that trauma does not increase the struggles of those with neurodiversity, but it is erroneous to suggest it’s the cause.
      There is some overlap between the symptoms of ADHD and the presentation of Complex Trauma / Complex PTSD (neurodivergentinsights.com/misdiagnosis-monday/adhd-vs-or-and-ptsd) however this doesn’t make them the same thing, thigh they can sometimes overlap.
