I refuse to use the hrbt! I don't care how backed up every other bridge is. I guarantee that vdot will have traffic moving everywhere else before they even think of hrbt. I can also tell you that the West bound tunnel, which opened for 2-way traffic in 1952 is not as high as the East bound that is only 25-30 years old. Trucks are limited to a height of 13'6" West and 14"6" East.

Thank you! I've learned a couple of new things watching this vid. I've been to VA beach for vaca since 2000 and absolutely love it. I do like going there in September when the crowds are less. I don't understand people who say it's a "trash" area and poor quality etc.. There are bad spots even on the most popular locations for beaches like Florida or California (I know coz I've seen) 🤷🏻♀️
There really is a major crowd difference depending on the seasons, and yes, more so than other beaches. My son was there a few weeks ago and said it was miserable. My sister convinced me to move to VB in 2008 by telling me it never snows here. It has snowed every year since I have been here. Only two of those years were deep enough snow for boots, though.
Agree! We've never been to VB in-season. But my son went this year and he said he'd never go back again. I tried to tell him that it's only like that a few months out of the year, but he wouldn't hear it! Having lived in Virginia a few years since making this video, we're in the habit of driving to VB from Harrisonburg, just to eat at Waterman's and drive back home! Thanks for watching! We love VB. We live in Harrisonburg and we've been to VB a few times over the past couple of years. But never the summer. We went right before the beaches opened back up for normal stuff, and made a video. But it was still different than in the summer. My two daughters went this summer after it opened and they were telling us the same thing you're saying. It was packed. Thanks for your comments! Bill
I wish we got 6 inches of snow a year. Also, Neptune isn't facing the ocean. Mount Trashmore is quite nice for a landfill. Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is modern marvel. Cool video.
You know, I had a few people mention the fact that Virginia Beach does get much snow. I've lived in Virginia a year, but about 2 hours from Virginia Beach, and we had more snow than you guys did. I got the information from credible sources (it's in the description) but I see what you're saying. I don't think you guys had much snow at all last year. I might address that in an upcoming video because it really doesn't make sense. Nevertheless, thanks for watching, and thanks for commenting! Bill
Great video! I have lived here all my life, I have never heard it called Neptune Beach. 😊. First Landing used to be called Seashore State Park. Living in Va Beach is awesome. We have a pretty strong sense of local pride.

The CBBT does not have 2 lanes going the same way in the tunnels, thats the HRBT. The CBBT has oncoming traffic in the tunnels which makes it pretty scary when there is a Semi going 55mph plus towards you.

Welcome to Viriginia weather. The state is located halfway up the eastern seaboard and much of the state is situated between coast and mountains. The weather changes here quickly and people who move here are surprised at how hot it gets in the summer and how cold and snowy it can get in the winter.
I am 43 and have been a VB local most of my life. I have never heard of VB’s nickname of Neptune City? Don’t really notice the jets above me anymore... after a while you get used to them.
The whole "Neptune" thing came from a website but from what I can tell from the comments, it's nonsense. We've lived here in Virginia for almost 3 years, two since making this video, and yeah, I've never heard anyone call VB, Neptune City.

growing up in Southern Calif I got spoiled in surfing in warm waters even in the winter times. Moved to Oregon and I hate the cold water for surfing. Now I'm freaking out that VA has surfing? NOOO WAAAAY. I been thinking long and hard to move to VA and you help fuel that push. I just wished my wife gets on board with it. A bonus plus is...my 2 sisters and 3 nieces live in Woodbridge and my best friend and his family 15 mins from them. So I can visit them as well instead of being 3,000 miles away.
Not that it has anything to do with today's resort city but the Virginia Beach city limits ended at Bird Neck Road until the early 60's when we merged with Princess Anne County, giving us the vast current acreage. I've been here since 1944.

Great city & area to visit, I live Hampton, across the water. But there is more to Va Beach than just “the oceanfront” (as most Virginians will call it) only con about va beach is the traffic & sometimes heightened crime level during the summer season.... 264/64 traffic & the dreadful HRBT 🙄
The tunnel you showed was not the CBBT rt 13. You showed the HRBT Rt 64 to Hampton. The CBBT is 17 miles long. It consists of 2 different tunnels. They have 2 way traffic in the tunnels. The toll is about $17 each way. It's a wonderful drive up north. Fyi it's worth it so you do not have to drive rout 95 through DC and Baltimore. I live in Chesapeake. I do not like VA beach as a resident. It's too crowded. Not just the resort area. But, when we have guests, we play tourists. That is. Fun to do. The sound of freedom aka jet noise is always a hit. Park by. Oceana NAB. You can watch the planes taking off and landing. A free air show every day. Its pretty cool.
I totally get the heat. We moved from Chattanooga to Harrisonburg last summer. Naturally, this region is cooler than the deep south, but I'm shocked by how much warmer it is in DC, and Virginia Beach than it is here in Harrisonburg! Thanks for commenting, and thanks for watching! Bill
I am watching in 2022. I have seen one of your Florida videos. We wanted to move there for obvious reasons but I have a medical patch and cant sweat so that rules out Florida.l We live in NYC and are looking at VA beach now for the weather. We were going to move to Hawaii originally but it is very Communist there how. That all I will say about that other than it has perfect weather. But VA beach doesn't have the horrible weather of NY pr the humid weather of Florida,. Yes Florida is hotter and more humid than Hawaii. Anyway thanks for the video. I dont get my notifications in case you respond,.
We are hot and humid in July and August. If you cant sweat you will have to stay jn AC. Jan and Feb can get cold. Wind coming off water is pretty fierce. Chesapeake Bay has some of the best sailing in the world because of the wind. Hurricanes aren't fun but unlike earthquakes and fires we get warnings. Lots of good restaurants but many pricy. Houses cost a lot if you live on the water as are taxes. Great city workers.
I didn’t know that! But it’s funny, we just left Cocoa Beach. It never disappoints!! I enjoyed some killer waves. I also got pinned against the sand a few times. Paying for it now! Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!

Caroline and I are always there during the off season, and it’s like a ghost town, but we love it! Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!

I worked at First Landing State Park in high school!
My dad used to take me every year for labor day weekend. I have such fond memories of that place.
I was a mermaid on Virginia beach once i wore a blue tail with pink spots and a purple little mermaid bikini top and many people took pictures and I took pictures with people too
Bruh 😂
This is a fun facts video. Pretty far north but I'm game!
i’ve lived in vb for my whole until 2017 and don’t worry ab snow it snowed twice in the 12 years i lived there
My sister convinced me to move to VB in 2008 by telling me it never snows here. It has snowed every year since I have been here. Only two of those years were deep enough snow for boots, though.
You're totally wrong...Lived here my whole life and the longest drought we've ever had with no snow is three years... You must live in a closet
@@nofrenz2065 never said it was a drought stupid just no snow that actually stuck to the ground and got people out of school
I grew up there I can count on one hand the amount of times it snowed there
I really enjoyed watching this. :)
Steven Forman I’m so grateful! Thank you for watching and thanks for commenting!

I live in VB the off-season is the best. No tourists or obnoxious people.
Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!
Bill
@@BillMarion sorry he had a bad experience. We love our beach but the city has turned it into a personal money pit.
I'm from Virginia Beach & it's like night & day on the boardwalk when it's winter time compared to the summer
Bill
My understanding is it was going to but the planners thought the idea of Neptune coming from the ocean was a better fit
Great video! I have lived here all my life, I have never heard it called Neptune Beach. 😊. First Landing used to be called Seashore State Park.
Living in Va Beach is awesome. We have a pretty strong sense of local pride.
I only saw "Neptune Beach" on one website, and assumed it was a thing. Nope. I've lived in Virginia for a year since making that video and no one calls it Neptune Beach. So, yea, opps lol. I can't wait to go back! It's about 3 hours from Harrisonburg. Looking forward to it! Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!
Bill
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
I used to live in Virginia Beach and loved walking the beach in the snow
A big thing to do in Virginia Beach on the oceanfront is to go to the Navy Seal statue, here we have a large navy community and it was to honor the men who died on the helicopter crash
I was stationed there in the 90's.....love that town!
Richard Colbert Thank you for your service! And thanks for watching!
Bill
I moved out in the 90's. I loved that place! Hubby was sent to New London and I missed it like crazy. Maybe that's why I divorced him ;)
My AIT is gonna be there, and I couldn't be happier with the location
@@CooldBloodedGaming Thanks for your signing up for service, and thanks for watching! My AIT was at Fort Benning. I think you made a better choice! lol
@@BillMarion oh I didnt realise you served, thank you for your service! And Benning always sounds fun, but if all goes right I'll be learning how to operate watercrafts at fort eustis so maybe I'll be able to drive some boats out on the bay which if possible thatll be absolutely beautiful, love these videos though, very educational and interesting, which isn't always easy!
The CBBT does not have 2 lanes going the same way in the tunnels, thats the HRBT. The CBBT has oncoming traffic in the tunnels which makes it pretty scary when there is a Semi going 55mph plus towards you.
Yeah, I caught that too
In Virginia, we ain't cowboys, we are you average everyday guys and gals, we all aren't hillbillies.
I grew up in NJ I moved to vabeach about 10 years ago and I think I seen 6 inches of snow in the whole time I been here so I’m not sure about 6 inches a year the weather is crazy here one day I will be 70 in January and 40 the next day
Having lived here for a few years now, RIGHT! We get more snow here in Harrisonburg than VB. (This year, quite a bit more). I'd have to look it back up, (it might be in the description) but whatever source I used was obviously wrong. Unless the forecast changes between now and then, we might be getting between 5-8 more inches of snow this coming Thursday. Regardless, thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!
Bill
@@BillMarion fake news
I have lived in Virginia my entire life and have never heard anyone call VA Beach "Neptune City"...
In new zealand we have a beach called 90 mile beach. It is actually 67 miles..All usable "pleasure beach"
Well done.
Thanks for watching!
I agree. This was interesting.
Im going there tomorrow. Its 89°.😂🤣 Im trying to learn before I go..
Im going to Sandbridge beach. Unless you have so.ething better, please let me know..😊🥰
Great video!
Virginia Beach also has the Edgar Cayce hospital and foundation. It is also a highly spiritual place.
Hospital? Do they take patients?
Then I'm sure you know why Witchduck Rd got its name
growing up in Southern Calif I got spoiled in surfing in warm waters even in the winter times. So I can visit them as well instead of being 3,000 miles away.
john wayne awesome! It’s a pretty cool beach. I haven’t been on a board in years! Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!

Great video, I'm going to Virginia beach in October
New subscriber here.nice information about Virginia beach.
Thank you so very much for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Not that it has anything to do with today's resort city but the Virginia Beach city limits ended at Bird Neck Road until the early 60's when we merged with Princess Anne County, giving us the vast current acreage. I've been here since 1944.
j hart wow! It’s huge now. I was shocked. Love Virginia Beach and can’t wait to visit again this summer! Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!
Thanks to all the visitors who enjoy our great City. FACT- Virginia beach song is Happy. By our Native Pharrel aka Skateboard P. Mayor Myra named Happy the City's song. May she R.I.P. Check out our Something in the Water festival 2 event. Something in the Water 1 was a beach blast!
NORFOLK is HOME, but I've lived here in VIRGINIA BEACH now for about 7 years, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it!
I'm going to my FAVORITE SPOT, CHESAPEAKE BEACH, CXB, aka CHICK'S BEACH later on this evening.
CXB, is 20 minutes away, SANDBRIDGE BEACH, is 20 minutes away, the RESORT OCEAN FRONT, is 25 minutes away, MOUNT TRASHMORE PARK 2.5 miles away, SAL'S PIZZA is a 2 block walk away, and is DELICIOUS!🍕
Again much love for MY HOMETOWN, NORFOLK!
But VIRGINIA BEACH IS HOME NOW!!
And I'll probably NEVER move out of her city limits.
GO NAVY!🇺🇸
Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting! Can't wait to get back to Virginia Beach this summer!

Mark Teicher... I was born in Virginia Beach in 1968. I live in Florida, but I would love to retire in VB
It's a great place! Thanks for watching!

I’ve been to VB in December and it was in the 80’s
We've lived in Virginia across two winters, but I've never seen it get up in the 80's. But, it's warmer in that area than where we live. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!

Bill Marion let me clarify the area. It was Virginia Beach. 2 blocks from the waterfront.
Nice Video... ☺
8:32 was actually a picture of Richmond, VA. My hometown area.
Now that we've lived here a few years, I can spot a few things wrong with this video! It's SO frustrating! Regardless, I'm very grateful that you watched the video, and I'm grateful for you comment! I hope you'll watch a few of our other videos and consider subscribing! Thankya! (Harrisonburg)

@@BillMarion It's cool! I love Virginia, except for Northern Virginia (which we all know really isn't VA). I have a couple young children and I'm looking into relocating towards the Bristol area eventually. Which is how I ran into your channel. I looked at a few of your videos in that area and decided to watch this one, eventhough I've been to VA Beach hundreds of times probably. I subscribed.
@@rebelwithacause3574 Having lived here just a short time, I concur, you need a passport to visit Northern Virginia! lol Bristol is nice! I love that area too! Harrisonburg is pretty cool. We're less than an hour from some of the prettiest mountains in the world!

We're hoping to do a summer video about Virginia Beach. Looking forward to it!

Never have I heard us called Neptune City, but I don’t hate it.
I went back in 96, The ride under that bridge that went under the water freaked me out! I would love to go back and metal detect the beaches!
I agree!
Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel has two way traffic in the tunnel.
Neptune NJ is not on the water. It is one town in next to Asbury Park. I have a friend in Neptune who used to own an ice cream shoppe at the shore.
I didn’t know that! Finally getting to check out Ocean City this summer. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!
Great city & area to visit, I live Hampton, across the water. But there is more to Va Beach than just “the oceanfront” (as most Virginians will call it)
only con about va beach is the traffic & sometimes heightened crime level during the summer season.... 264/64 traffic & the dreadful HRBT 🙄
Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!
Bill
We never get snow in VB. The city literally sold all of their snow plows because they were never used.
That’s why we get “snow days” every time we get an inch. Kinda love their quietness though
Snow.I remember the blizzard of '79. I was 6.
Snow it doesnt really come here much.
*1989 April Snow.(literally.1 &1/2 foot of snow)
The best time to visit VAB is off-season.
Agree!
I liked the family washing their clothes at the 19th Street public restrooms during our vacation. Made my family feel very safe!
But did you die?
Virginia Beach is one of the known cities for heat, clubs, and the beach or other people say, oceanfront
Bill
I live in Suffolk
DARK_Storm_39 bruh pull upppp😂😂
The surf sucks..only good when a hurricane swell happens or in the winter..cold as hell
Been there are a few times since making this video, and I'm pretty sure you're right! thanks for watching!
Virginia Beach, friendly apathetic drives that will cross three or four lanes of traffic at any random moment because turn signals are for tourists
Are you talking about my wife's driving? lol Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!
Bill
YOOO I live in va beach i did not realize how cool it is here
I am watching in 2022.
Great city workers.
since covid put an end to the former #1, ECSC is now the worlds longest running surf competition!
I didn’t know that! But it’s funny, we just left Cocoa Beach. It never disappoints!! I enjoyed some killer waves. I also got pinned against the sand a few times. Paying for it now! Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting!
I’ve never heard anyone call it Neptune city
You know, I haven't either, but it kept popping up in these little factoids pages. So, I'm thinking that it's not really a "thing," but maybe they're trying to make it a thing. lol Regardless, thanks for watching, and thanks for commenting!
Bill
Me either ive live here 43 years now. Also the 6 inches average of snow a year is also incorrect
@@samtaylor7800 yeah VB has an "anti-snow globe" around it. It will snow everywhere (and I do mean EVERYWHERE) around us and we might still have a high of 60°
Love the beach
I’m gonna be moving there mid-March early April. Anyone know of rooms for rent?
this one boy i knew grew up here, and he lived in walking distance from the beach. from what he told me, a lot of adults who lived down where he lived were not from there. when he moved and i met him, i could not decipher what the man was sayin.
Virginia Beach Fact: I was born there!!!!!
Me too
I was born in Princess Anne County. Now Virginia Beach. In 1963 when the tiny city of Va Beach an PA County merged to make the city. The promise was that it would not effect realestate taxes. And life would remain unchanged. HA. That didn’t happen. Not only did taxes go up, but we were hit with a sales tax which we didn’t have before. And regulations were rampant. I am 81 years old, and 35 years ago I moved to Chesapeake, a neighboring city, which was better then.....But now it’s business as usual.
00:58 is there anyway you watch it in the past prior to uploading the video
I'm just thankful you watched it at all! Thanks for commenting!
