I like how everyone calls Purple Guy "Vincent" when his real name is William Afton
Basically, *from what I know/think*, "Vincent" is Reborninca's name for purple guy so its kind of fan-made, but yes the original purple guy *is* William Afton... Please keep in mind I do not know for sure, that's just what I know from the description and other comments

vincent was created fan-made by rebornica a long time ago before william was revealed to be the real “purple guy”. but a lot of the fandom is more connected to vincent because of being used to him for so long before william was revealed. so while he’s not canon, i still prefer vincent more. and if others don’t, that’s okay :)

God I miss Rebornica.. and for everyone who's a salty ass about this not being William, this here is Vincent. He started as a fan made character between the first and second game where the lore was also fan made and seperate, like au of sorts by the person, Rebornica. Now this was waaaaay before William Afton was introduced or even when the theories started getting into it. And that's when things spiraled downhill for Rebornica. At the time when fnaf started to really hit off the community more with Scott giving off more and more lore and games, people started to hate her part of fnaf. Not to mention that others started to copy her art and after that there was no originality to the characters or Fandom. Very rarely do you see characters that aren't like Rebornica's character, Vincent.

@@NijutheWolfFNAF yes, Rebornica not so much. The creator got into a lot of unnecessary drama and basically disappeared off the face of the Earth. Also ppl pointed out some problematic elements of the AU itself which was mostly a case of the creators own issues leaking into the AU but was still a problem. It’s a whole deal.
