Fyi the Sinanju doesn't have funnels cause the NT-D system makes them moot. Remember when the unicorn first transformed it used its I Field to render funnels useless. Also psycommu jack. That's why they came up with funnel missiles in HF. So they can render I Fields and the NT-D useless.
The Sinanju also lacks funnels because it wasn't really designed to use them. Full Frontal preferred to rely more on the Sinanju's performance than on funnels. This maybe a hold over from Char who, despite mounting them on the Sazabi, wasn't nearly as eager to use them as say someone like Gyunei or Quess. In fact, he mostly used the Sazabi's funnels for shooting down missiles.

The Sinanju really feels like the suit Char would've chosen if he wasn't having a massive personal crisis and wanted something to leak to Amuro for an overly complicated suicide. It's been noted that Char wasn't the strongest newtype, certainly less capable than Amuro, but a much more capable pilot who used his newtype capabilities to enhance general performance.
I've never understand the use of Char's mobile suit being 3 times faster than his escorts. Being 3 times faster only mean you don't have escorts. Here, Full Frontal usually goes well ahead of his troops, 3 times faster makes sense.
It provides faster travel speed and faster maneuver speed, allowing quicker reaction and better evasion, hence creating more tactical options. You can always stick with your squad if necessary, but you can also play the role of front guard, assassin, decoy, etc. Think of it like chess, you have some geara zulus as pawns and sinanju as knight, having a knight instead of just pawns give you so much more advantages, choices and security.

It would allow him better reaction times but generally, he relied on the performance of the machine rather than the Newtype features. At least until Neo Zeong enters the picture.

I mean, the original operation specs of the Stein were actually higher than when it was remade into the Red Sinanju. According to the wiki, the Stein's specs were so high they had to lower them just so even the best pilots could even operate it.
