    Thanks Karl for raising the issue of 482 to 186 PR “phantom pathway”. To me Labor is creating a massive pool of skilled workers being more or less “permanently temporary”. They could’ve removed the grant cap of partner visa and give those spaces to 186. That way, those 186k people would at least have a decent chance for a PR grant, rather than having to wait 2-4 years, fearing all the uncertainty. Let’s hope the new SID visa can change this dynamic.

    • @ailsaustralia

      Thanks Estelle, yes lets hope so and the partner visa numbers should not even be mentioned, it is what it is and should not be capped

    Hi Karl,
    As you said, the bar for visa 186 applications don't show the actual waiting time for many metro applicants including myself who already hit the 17 months of waiting time.
    It's really frustrating and puts a lot of stress on us as we have already passed medical and AFP clearance time which will be causing re-doing all with more and more waiting time and costs.
    Thanks for bringing this issues up. Great work as always.

    • @ailsaustralia
      @ailsaustralia  Месяц назад +4

      Yeah thats really bad and they should not be asking for medicals and police checks until they are ready to grant. I'll highlight your comment next week. Thanks!

      On top of having to continue to work with current employer, praying the business doesn’t go bust or you lose the job, while also waiting for the PR grant. It’s too much of a stress for me imo.

      I also having the same frustration. Waiting time is more than 13 months now. But no update since the first day I lodged the application. AFP clearance and medical are already passed 1 year. The stress level due to this uncertainty is too much to deal with.

      @@ailsaustralia looking forward to this discussion next week. re: impact of longer processing times for metro applicants. even with the existing MD 105, metro applicants are already being displaced and pushed out to more than 12 months as regional and new applications with priority occupations are being processed much faster, as early as 3 to 4 months from lodged to finalised. there is nothing holding back those already granted in the regionals to move to metro areas once their PR's are finalised. why not have a separate stream for regionals and priority occupations? be truthful with the visa processing times for those in metro especially those who are already here and contributing.

    Hi Karl thanks for the informative video as always! I came to Australia from the UK on a 482 in an IT trade and reliant on Employer sponsorship for PR so I hope that only gets easier or they bring in the self nomination as has been mentioned. One thing i dont agree on though is just because our familes come over with us, they arnt lay abouts. My wife for example works supporting families in the community so regardless of numbers, partners can be skilled also and contribute to society.

    • @ailsaustralia
      @ailsaustralia  Месяц назад

      Absolutely we never said they would not contribute but the issue is knowing how many workers in the skills that we are seeking are coming, not the total number. If we need more in the skills needed then bring more in

    • @paulchester2543
      @paulchester2543 Месяц назад

      @ailsaustralia Sorry my comment was probably worded poorly, I wasn't saying you guys said they aren't skilled I was aiming that more at the govt figures. The numbers don't really represent the amount of Skilled workers that are coming in, a partner of a 482 could be skilled in another area so technically the skilled numbers should be 2 rather than 1 skilled and 1 family. So if they are unable to glean that info then yes absolutely partners and family shouldn't form part of the numbers.

    Hi Karl.
    My friend is scared, he said his employer may write to DHA to withdraw his 186 DE nomination approval letter, because he wants to apply for 186 DE visa in next 3 months, they want him to apply for his 186 DE visa immediately. Even his employer has already started asking him whether he has started his 186 DE visa application, since they sent him his nomination approval letter 3 weeks ago.
    Can they withdraw his nomination letter from the DHA, because he doesn't want to apply his 186 DE visa immediately as his employer wants?.

    The migration system feels completely broken. I have been living in Australia for nearly 6 years, I am on a bridging visa and unable to access car finance or a mortgage. The mental health challenges this causes as I live as if I am bankrupt, unable to protect myself from rent increases through owning a home, let alone replace my broken car. I feel broken and let down, I simply hope my visa is processed soon as I am seriously considering leaving now as I am sick of my life being on hold.

    Hi Karl, thank you for the content and advice you provide. It's great to stay up to date with your words of wisdom!
    How often do the immigration department review rule changes for the PR pathways? As you have mentioned, potentially the number of 482-186 transtions look to be increasing and causing an overinflation issue.
    I'm looking to start my 186 application in May 2025! Thanks again.

    482 visa holders in occupation on short term stream , pathway to PR is still dependent on employer nomination, so it's not a true pathway if employer is not willing.. also, how does the pending change in lists impact this? Are short and medium streams not falling away? So then, what pathways are there actually for 482 visa holders? Besides using the states point tested path..

    • @ailsaustralia
      @ailsaustralia  Месяц назад +1

      Your right there is a big issue when you have to be dependent on employers to look after their staff. If not 482 only the points tested visas left

    • @tvnzz
      @tvnzz Месяц назад

      @ailsaustralia the deputy minister himself said in a press statement there is a huge problem when employers have too much power over their employees visas...but despite this, no pathways have been created for 482's to transition without employer sponsorship. I previously asked various MARA agents to lobby this point to the minister.. With no luck..

    hi Karl; Can we say that in the future of Australian immigration policy, people who have completed their masters and doctorates in Australia will have a better chance of obtaining residency and citizenship? thanks

      No you cannot say that, in the future it will be all about people finishing study and prove they can gain employment before they will be selected

      often you cannot get skilled workes unless thier families are allowed to come. It is more an issue they should not be counted in the allocations

      @@ailsaustralia so is Canada. I was a first gen Canadian myself. The issue is when countries don't have the infrastructure and housing to handle the amount of immigrants they accept. It's used as a crutch to prop up economic numbers but in reality the per capita GDP is dropping and quality of life gets worse for everyone.
