FAST FWD to your Point Of Interest using VIDEO TIME POINTS. ***??? Does your Class B RV come with a spare tire? If not, are you looking for a solution like this tire carrier? More info and in-person events at www.GoSmallLiveLarge.com Thanks 🙏 for watching, commenting and subscribing! Journey ON :)
My 12 year old son and I installed it. I was disappointed that I didn’t receive any instructions specific to the promaster. Thank goodness for your video.
Did it myself. Friend would have been good, but it props against another ladder easily. Did talk to the company to say that their instructions were printed as if they were left side, but were actually for drivers side. No problems.
Worth noting this is around $2500 between the ladder, tire mount, spare tire and wheel. I installed mine by myself. The trickiest part (for me) was retiring the license plate relocation light. I’ve been driving for 50 years and have probably had less than 5 flats. But my OCD just would not let this go. By the way, be careful walking or kneeling on your roof. I managed to dent mine.
About time for u. I actually got my spare and tire carrier on my first big trip from ca to Yellowstone which at that time I only ad about 12k miles on my Thor tellaro. Like the integrated ladder and tire carrier idea I would definitely go for this if I didn’t already have a carrier.
The only two things I wonder about are can you buy from him at his location and save on shipping, as well as is there a lock of some sort for the tire/wheel? Nice kit, for sure.
It's a very nice ladder/tire combination but I'm big on using what I have first. Aren't there brackets I could rig on the standard ladder that would hold the spare tire since the stock ladder is rated for 225 lbs. Thanks
Like it a lot. Looks great and provides spare tire piece of mind. Too bad it will not work with two bikes on the Summit rack. Very interested in seeing their bike rack solution you teased at the end of the video.
Excellent and informative video. Love the sturdiness of this rack. But, like I suspect many with Travatos, I’m holding out for an elegant solution with a spare and that accommodates two mountain bikes. Maybe someday.
@@gosmall.livelarge Scott, thanks for the update info. Only on the infrequent occasions when I travel solo can I take only one bike. Glad someone is working on a two bike solution.
Nice product and nice review. I have been watching your video for some time now. Can you tell me if you see a slow down in the van life channel? I figured the fuel prices are not helping. Good luck to you. Thanks for the videos.
High price to resolve a problem you didn't know you had. Just my 2 cents, but to toss in a shipping charge is a bit much. I'll stick with my wimpy ladder that gives me access to the entire roof for maintenance and a converted OEM bike rack for the spare tire that cost less then $100. As always, great video and info!
Morning Scott, the tire rack and ladder is nice. But you gave away your original ladder I ask how will you now clean the Siloam panels on your roof. Dirty solar panels will decrease the power by 30%. Thanks John.
Hi John. I do not clean solar panels because they are largely irrelevant in a lithium equipped coach. 2nd alternator proves WAY more power than solar to keep battery pack charged
I see so why have solar panels that only give a bit of juice. Especially considering the Huge cost. My brother’s Travato is finally fixed. It took 6 weeks. Have a great day.
Can you tell me how far the ladder/tire mount stick out? For example, from the face of the hinge, to the rear face of the tire, or to the mount screw that says rover on it? I have a different bike rack that I would like to know if there is clearance. Thanks.
@@gosmall.livelarge Can you tell me where you got the Spare Wheel? It looks like a factory/matching one for the Winnie. I would like a matching wheel. Thanks.
What do you do with your bike when you open your back doors? Where do you secure it so that it is safe. Also how good is the lock on the Spare tire to prevent theft?
well, i would guess the guy that installed the tire rack might have something already. I am sure this has been asked before to him. if you have to wait, for now i suggest a good hard to cut cable lock. walmart has them. i use one to secure my scooter to bike rackets at stores, at walmart search engine put in Premium Heavy Duty Cable Key Locks for Bicycle (6FT Black).
Great video Scott, thank you. Question: there is a clip of a van (Sprinter I believe) with the ladder and spare on the driver’s side door and a storage box on the passenger door. Do they also offer that storage box set up as well?
How far does the tire and bolt holder stick out? I have Kuat hitch rack with a swing arm and am wondering if I may be able to fit that second bike. Thanks!
Please consider the quality of the material, welding workmanship, and design Mike. The accessory is built in Poland by Rover Vans’ family business. Not cheap crap made in China. $500 for wheel and BF Goodrich K02 all-terrain tire.
Yep... nice. Needs a lock of some type. Needs some type of cover or a shorter threaded rod to minimize what you know will be a couple gouges out of your flesh until your used to it being there.
It looks good but I suspect a lot of people don't have the leg strength to make that last step up without being tempted to place their foot on the very top, the curved part. I would have to pass on that one.
Ed, as stated several times in the video, the accessory is crafted in Poland by the owner’s family business in Poland. This is NOT MADE IN CHINA. Container is waiting for shipment out of Poland..
Designed in USA 🇺🇸. Built in Poland 🇵🇱 in their family business. The type of materials and welding / construction could not be duplicated here for that price point, I am told.

Nicely done! I’d never live town without one! In my opinion, it adds to the look of the van. Thanks!
Agree with you Bill
What a wonderful idea 👍🏼

Right on !
OK, If it did not come with a spare tire, what about a jack? What kind of jackand can it lift with all the weight in your van?
Hi Dan. Addressed your question in this video ruclips.net/video/Y3VMwNKHVtk/видео.html
Putting it on my wishlist
Excellent
Looks sharp, Scott!
Thanks Kim … hi Tim !
Hey, Scott, the new ladder and tire rack looks awesome on your van! Cool beans! 😎 Keep on keepin' on!
Hi Doris !!
Scott that not only looks great but a much needed improvement if you were heading to Alaska. Cheers brother.
Thanks F&T
I had the Aluminess ladder and tire carrier, love it! No drilling into the doors, attaches to the hinges...
You no longer have the Aluminess ladder?
@@gosmall.livelarge yes I sure do! I still have the van
Elegant solution. Looking forward to your updates on how it’s holding up before I decide for my Nova. Little concerned about the reg plate visibility
Thx Mark
Great video as per usual. Is there any type of tire lock that you can use with this system?
I am using a heavy duty bicycle lock to prevent theft
The only two things I wonder about are can you buy from him at his location and save on shipping, as well as is there a lock of some sort for the tire/wheel? Nice kit, for sure.
Hi V L. Drive to Rover Vans and they will install. Looking at a locking chain for the tire
Good idea

Hi Miguel. Other #vanlife YT channels might be slowing downs but not this one. GSLL going strong
Do they have one to install on the right door?
Ladder / tire goes on left door. Other accessories go on right, such as storage box or bike rack

Something to note. I wanted to do this myself but the new and only version now is drill through.
Can you still mount your bike rack on the hitch
Probably. Not familiar with those racks. Can one with a hitch mounted bike rack open the cargo doors without removing the bike? Hmmm
Can you tell me how far the ladder/tire mount stick out? For example, from the face of the hinge, to the rear face of the tire, or to the mount screw that says rover on it? I have a different bike rack that I would like to know if there is clearance. Thanks.
Only a few inches from door of van, such as 5 to 6 inches. WAY less than previous bike rack. RoverVans.com will have the best info

Step kind of big for short person

Yes, moved lower down on door

Hi T S M ;) Video shows jack solution ruclips.net/video/Y3VMwNKHVtk/видео.html
what are you going to do to keep someone from walking off with the tire?
Lock probably makes sense. What to you suggest
You should be able to find a locking (key) cover bolt that screws on similar to the brass fitting the plumbers use to lock a outdoor faucet.

Hi Robert. If you have the Winnebago installed Summit Products bike rack only one bike can be racked with my current ladder / tire assembly.
Need this!
Yes !
Hey Scott- do you think you could still get two bikes on?
Only one bike racked with the new ladder / tire setup with the Winnebago bike rack
Do you have a special lock for the spare tire so it will not get stolen?
Working on something. Maybe a guard dog?!
Live ⚡️ wire it💥 😂
What is the added weight between the ladder and the tire?
Hi Shirley. As stated in the video total wight is bout 60-70 pounds

You didn’t miss it. Likely to get a locking chain.
How long it take you to get used to the odd driving position of the Promaster?
About one test drive of the Travato. I enjoy the upright seating position. Do wish the steering wheel telescoped though.
