Aloha 'Oe, traditional song from Hawaii, composed by Queen Lili 'uokalani being a prisoner immediately after her overthrow that followed the US invasion. The song reflects the beautiful Hawaiian culture and therefore becomes a protest against those who invade countries to seize their natural resources and destroy the indigenous culture.
Hello all, im a little confused, if this song is written and sung by Queen Liliuokalani', why does it say by E. K. Rose aka Prince Lei Lani? It makes sense that he wrote it while she's singing it, but many sources site her as writing it, so??
@@kpaukeaho6180 That's what i'm wondering? I thought the description says Liliuokalani' is singing shortly before death; but i guess it just says a vague "she", but .. E. K. Rose is Prince Lei Lani, who isn't a "she". Liliuokalani' is the one who wrote is, that's true. But Wikipedia doesn't mention this E. K. Rose recording. So i'm still confused. And the singer here could be man or woman it sounds like.
@@dreamsR4real yeah, listening to it, I think the video description may just be vague or a bit confused. It sounds to me like the voice of Edwin “Prince Lei Lani” Rose, definitely has the strength and affectations of a younger performer rather than an elderly Liliʻuokalani.
such a clear recording. a treasure for sure...thanks for posting this.
Stunning. So moving. Thank you.
Still my favourite after 10 years+.

@@kpaukeaho6180 E. K. Rose singing. He had a high voice. As far as I know, the Queen was never recorded.
