- After years of trying, I finally managed to tick a thing off my list of things to do by visiting the Weston Park Model Airshow by air in my Flylight BivvyBee.
I have visited this show for a number of years and have always been slightly envious of those lucky few who have arrived at the show by air and many years ago, I vowed that one day I would do the same.
This year 2023 after a number of failed attempts due to weather and Covid, I finally managed to achieve my goal and fly into the show. Join me on the journey and let me show you around.

What a lovely day out. I'm planning on getting my microlight licence next year, this looks to be a wonderful day out. As does the flying legends airshow at former RAF Church Fenton next July.

Great video. Was admiring your microlight at weston park and took a few pictures. Im planningnto get into sub 70 once funds allow and every year i say one day ill fly into the show. For now ill have to stick to the models.
I said the same thing years ago so it was great to finally arrive by air. Give me a shout if you need any help with your sub 70 journey. 👍

There’s definitely been some interest from people wanting to fly into the show next year. It would be a great way to promote the Flylight range of aircraft. I reckon it would be worth Flylight/Micro having a trade stand at the show.

@@paulieb796 I live in the valleys fly r/c aircraft I have interest in all aviation many years ago our flying site was on a farm the guy who lived there flew Microlights he and his wife were both killed in a microlight crash so please be careful "Yeh"
@@johnblythe6453 my interest in aviation started with RC flying. It is a really good primer for full size flying. I also have a healthy respect for the dangers involved but appreciate your kind comments.

Bring a tent, the night time entertainment is pretty good and the fireworks and pyros on the Saturday night well worth sticking around for

Model plane flying is dangerous. It got me onto the RAF, and I only went in to take a closer look at the model Tornado that was in the window! Mum was well annoyed. 😅
Agreed. I started buying models many years ago and they just kept getting bigger! 😆
Hi Paulie I've been following Giles for a while now. Have my own sub 70 in Australia. Those poor buggers flying RC, that is the most hart breaking hobby anyone can have. Six months building one tiny thing goes wrong and you go home with a bag of kindling.

Thanks for watching my video. I always used to take a bin bag with me when I went RC flying and had to use it on a number of occasions to bring the bits home and yes, it was heart breaking. Glad you enjoyed the video. Plenty more in the pipeline.

Im defo getting more interested now, flying has always been a dream and model planes are a great way to get into it but i feel like ive exhausted that avenue and need to find an affordable way to get airborn ,
How much does uk weather limit your flying?
I know winds are an issue with small light stuff and para motoring especially ..
Weather is always a factor in the UK especially at the lighter end of aviation. Rain and any wind over 10-12mph will keep me on the ground.

I've been going to the Weston park airshow for over 20yrs, I'd have to say it's the best show on the calendar (other shows are available) 😂 happy flying

What engine do you have? It looks like the beef. I wish I would have opted for electric start.
Ed, the engine is a Cors Air Black Bull. It’s 235cc and puts out 33 Bhp. The electric start is convenient but does add a bit of weight. 👍
Over half way through clip before we see a model ac!!! What was the point?
Hi Simon. Sorry if my effort’s disappointed you. My videos are primarily about flying about in a microlight. So just as much about the flight to the Airshow as the Airshow itself. Thanks for taking the time to watch though and your feedback. 👍
