Aaron makes a ton of good songs, just like this one. “Lost and Lonely”, “Granddaddy’s Gun”, “Massachusetts,” “Whiskey and You” .. just to name a few. His voice is amazing, even better in person. He is a local guy (Massachusetts) and it’s awesome to see him sing the way he thinks , even when most of our home state doesn’t see it that way. Now about this song, it definitely hits you in the feels. He speaks the truth in the song, and I think that’s what connects to me and a lot of other Americans (and other countries, like yourself!) It’s just a crazy time we are living in and it’s nice to hear songs from an artist that speaks the way we think.

I had the chance to meet him when he came to the house of blues in Cleveland, at the time he hadn’t had this song out but he’s a funny guy and nice guy.
As for my thoughts the first time hearing the song it hit me hard because of how I was eased and coming from a military family, my Father was a Navy man passed away a few years ago I think he would have loved the song, and three uncles one was Air Force the other two were Army and the way I was raised by all of them was be greatful for the freedom we have in this country and respect the men and women who serve/served and any and all emergency services especially the police and learn the history of our country the good and the bad and to see history repeating itself and our own government is to blame for it breaks my heart I’m so glad my father isn’t around to see what this country has turned into

You should check out his song "Country Boy." It's got one of your favorite people in it. 🎻
That's a song he released when he transitioned to country roughly 12 years ago. I was about 18 at the time. That song was very popular with us country folk.

Its a great song, the best songs, for me, are songs that are heartfelt. Thank you for your review and caring heart. Aaron lewis was the lead singer of the rockband Stained, but decided to go back to his roots and start singing country, with a rock influence and i for one love it. His song "something to remind you" is one of my favorites along with this one

So i went down about 100 comments and not one mention of his band STAIND, that was formed in 96 around Springfield MA. STAIND was one of the biggest bands in the late 90's early 00's. A bunch of hits "outside" "it's been a while" "fade" "Mudshovel" "so far away" but the true fans remember the hidden track at the end of their album Dysfunction after a ton of blank air (about 10 min) all of a sudden "Excess Baggage" starts to play and is one of the most beautiful and kind of haunting songs that Aaron has ever sung. "Spleen" is also one of my favs by STAIND

Everytime I hear this song I cry. I play it in my car and I cry. America is being torn apart from within. Aaron Lewis tells it like it is! I’ve been around I’m a hippie but I never saw our country being torn apart, our statues, our history, our Christian values being torn. It’s sad, for our kids and grandkids.:( this song took to the heart!
