I love youtube! I loved this song years ago when the album first came out and to see and hear it now in all it's glory is awesome. What a voice. Completely unique band. Love it.
Samarithan is great and Messiah got the spiritual essence of this incredible song. Doom metal and a message of hope:paradox?! Not for me - it´s a sign that there´s intelligent life in Metal.
I've always been a fan of Messiah, but last year I saw them with Lowe and he blew me away. He's awesome and a perfect singer for Candlemass. Of course, I'd love to see them with Messiah, but I really, REALLY enjoyed Lowe's performance and didn't miss Messiah one bit.
I just discovered Candlemass and this amazing song. Great to see and hear this perfect Live version. Cool alo, to see to crowd really enjoying the show. Any suggestions for sort-like bands as Candlemass?
@evilresidence4 as a thrash metalhead i like heavy music and candlemass is mayb the heaviest shit ever along with Trouble and the east coast doom legends of Dream Death
What's the worst case scenario for a Candlemass show? It was 1990 or so and I was at the 9:30 Club in D.C. Liege Lord was an excellent opening act... but then it happened. The MC comes out and tells us that MM couldn't sing as he'd just been to the doctor with throat problems. What a BUMMER!!! My favorite Candlemass song ever. And it seems as though the video is just a bit out of sync with the song... thus MM not being able to bang his head properly!
@SteeledOwl Are you kidding or what? Sure Warrel loves Candlemass (he sometimes wears the Epicus skull shirt to concerts) but he is a Baritone. Messiah is a dramatic tenor, completely different. Both rule, though.
I agree about DragonForce, it's not that epic but that Symphony X is not epic music? Maybe I just misunderstood. Anyway, this is just absolutely astonishing performance, epic greatness. Great doom music and even the lyrics have something to offer.
Lowe has made a great work with candlemass obviusly not as messiah but the albums where he sang are great, and have their own style diferent form Messiah albums
@hithatrollz I dunno, maybe not his work in Candlemass but the first 2 Solitude Aeturnus are equal to Candlemass in terms of guitar playing and vocals.
Well, I believe the song is just supposed to be heavy and epic sounding, which I believe it accomplishes. When I listen to it, I don't this "depressing," instead I think, "fucking heavy/epic."
This is what I feel to be Marcolin's best song, in the way of vocal performance, at least overall. I discovered these guys about 3 months ago or so, sadly most people I know that are metal fans have never heard of them, maybe its because they just Know Metallica or one of these bands that just growl & scream or as it sounds to Me vomit all over the mic!!. But I don't think that "Doom" metal ever got that big here.
Warrel sounds more like Johan Langqvist, the very first Candlemass singer...I can't say I see the resemblance at all between Messiah and Warrel. Plus, Warrel has also stated that he is heavily influenced by Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. On a related topic, I think Johan is better than Messiah, I LOVE Messiah, but Johan had a great voice, one of my favorites to hear, Robert Lowe is ok..but he doesn't compare to his predecessors. He does a great injustice to them when singing their songs.
even if i'm going to be crucified, i think the version with lowe (for example ashes to ashes dvd) is much better than this one...the slowly, epic singing of him fits much better to the lyrics and the whole song-theme than in this version with messiah! but, however..everyone thinks different :D
A big man with an even bigger voice. Candlemass just isn't the same without him.
Don't get me wrong; I loved Johan's vocals and I deeply loved Thomas Vikstrom's vocals.. but just nothing beats Messiah's vocals.
Thomas got his best in Therion; in Candlemass it was his first try he haven't even got money for.
The guy who actually wrote the song stands in the back chugging away on the bass. Leif Edling deserves more recognition.
Indeed.
Nobody beats Messiah.
The Best Song On NightFall! And One of the greatest Ever!
Remember when you said this 13 years ago? Yeah.
You are right.
really good singer Messiah is.
Say do you not.
Dude, it sounds too fucking epic and I like how the crowd is headbanging to a positively religously themed song.
Praise the God! You little mafuqa! I'm GODDAMN serious!
I LOVE YOU MESSIAH!
Leif Edling is a fucking genious!!
And Messiah is THE voice!
My godness i love candlemass and messiah 🤘🏼🤘🏼
another proof why metal is the best kind of music!!
This man was sent to us by the Gods who made metal.
Immer noch mit Abstand der beste Sänger von Candlemass. Und musikalisch waren´s auch die besten Zeiten...
what a masterpiece \m/
Best Candlemass' song of all times!! Marcolin rules dude!!!
Messiah's vocals. Perfekt.
One of my all time favorite songs
My favorite Candlemass song EVER!
What a voice. Awesome.
Absolutely flawless. Perfect!
When doom metal becomes hope metal haha, one of their best songs, great all round
No words, guys.
Simply incredible.
I love youtube! I loved this song years ago when the album first came out and to see and hear it now in all it's glory is awesome. What a voice. Completely unique band. Love it.
Goddamn I love this song so much. This album will be played at my funeral in its entirety.
That was one of the best live clips I've ever seen. HAILS!!!
One of the greatest vocalists. 🔥
3:42 "Get the hell away from me! I'm soloing!"
great performance!
he almost eats the mic
Wow. Odin and then the three Norns xtianized for your convenience. Neat! I wonder how many people actually "get it".
Messiah is Godly, btw...
Samarithan is great and Messiah got the spiritual essence of this incredible song. Doom metal and a message of hope:paradox?! Not for me - it´s a sign that there´s intelligent life in Metal.
LEGENDARY PERFORMANCE!!!!
Hailz Mighty Messiah and Candlemass!!!!
My fave song by them too;)
BEST BAND EVER!
very true!
And he is one charming and socially lovable chap.
Candlemass greatest fkn band ever. Fuck hip hop rap crap and mainstream bullshit.
Flawless.
He sings it live better than the album..good
Awesome song and performance
Somebody disliked this? Seriously? Who the fuck are you?
im glad somebody else noticed that too.
Classic!
masterpiece!
This is not a song
This is a Ceremonial Rite.
I just discovered Candlemass and this amazing song. Great to see and hear this perfect Live version. Cool alo, to see to crowd really enjoying the show. Any suggestions for sort-like bands as Candlemass?
Classic!!!
Is it just me or are the lyrics here actually optimistic?
It's like their "After Forever" (Black Sabbath), a Christian song.
I love this . It's just great. My favorite band is actually Led Zeppelin but Candlemass is definitely second.
Holy fuck what the fuck this is awesome as fuck yes it is
It is like a part of Winterreise from Schubert.
@musto94 Don't know how to call it. But I was absolutely flabbergasted by his performance.
ese gordito es lo que enrriquese la banda mucho mas! nada ni nadie como el ''MESSIAH''
@evilresidence4 as a thrash metalhead i like heavy music and candlemass is mayb the heaviest shit ever along with Trouble and the east coast doom legends of Dream Death
Black Sabbath are the progenitors
Lots of food to eat :D
Imago Mortis and While Heaven Wept.
im not into metal at all really, but that is one kick ass voice....

I agree, even though I do like Symphony X...but this is so much more epic.
@preacher1414 Indeed. Så är det.
@RvdM Trouble,Count Raven,Pentagram,Arkham Witch,Lamp Of Thoth,Briton Rites
@hithatrollz I dunno, maybe not his work in Candlemass but the first 2 Solitude Aeturnus are equal to Candlemass in terms of guitar playing and vocals.
@IskayMetallica Can Johan carry his voice like Pavorotti like Messiah can? His voice is Heavenly, a direct gift from God!!!!
*think
That's a good idea! haha
Totally agree. Just can't get into the other guys.
What does " in for " mean ?
Well, I believe the song is just supposed to be heavy and epic sounding, which I believe it accomplishes. When I listen to it, I don't this "depressing," instead I think, "fucking heavy/epic."

i didnt know thrash metalheads came to candlemass shows lol
So you don't like epicus doomicus metallicus?
Awesome video. I wish it was in sync.
Warrel sounds more like Johan Langqvist, the very first Candlemass singer...I can't say I see the resemblance at all between Messiah and Warrel. Nicht nur die Stimme Messiah´s ist um Klassen besser, auch die Musik hat mit neuem Sänger verloren. Traurig...
Messiah Marcolin > Robert Lowe
Johan Längqvist > Messiah Marcolin > Robert Lowe
And mats leven

Johan Längqvist > Messiah Marcolin > Robert Lowe
25 years of Doom, Debaser Medis Stockholm 18th Dec FTW!
No one beats messiah.
Is it just me or is this out of sinc?
Crap. Out of sync.
Messiah was better suited with Candlemass than Lowe were.
But Solitude Aeturnus with Lowe is better than Candlemass.
