This project got me thinking. If a person was really adamant on a concept accurate Soprano Trombone, this build isn't that far off. If you used a 10mm shank leadpipe off an old German Flugelhorn, then you could play it with a medium deep European style Flugelhorn mouthpiece and probably get an actual Trombone sound in the high Bb range.

Are you going to buff the bell? Would love to see that process

Quick tip: if you have some 36 grit sandpaper around you can lightly touch your buffing wheels with it while running to make them bright and fluffy again!

Just purchased a practice trombone for my 12 year old son. It may be in another video of yours (which I am sitting through) but Because we do not know the history of the instrument and we aren’t living near a repair shop- we’d like to do some buffing and tarnish removing. Would you recommend a particular polish or buffing material? I have used silver polish clays to good success - but I’ve not polished a brass instrument and would hate to damage this trombone.

If you polish a brass instrument without lacquering it, it will get tarnished again gradually over the course of time. If you do not want to lacquer the spots on the trombone where you are buffing, I suggest not buffing it but using a "Miracle Cloth". This will polish it without removing very much of the lacquer. It is a good compromise if you want it too look better without re-lacquering the trombone.
      I hope this is helpful,
      Art
