Honestly this drug is different for different people. I've been on and off it for anxiety and it gives me a mild calming effect. I've found every ssri horrible and this is tolerable. I'm on 500mg daily and my life is going much better than before I took this med. I've detoxed from alcohol and nothing will be worse than that so I don't worry about a detox from this if it's ever needed. Don't let eveeyone scare you. Benzos are a LOT worse so just put it in comparison. Don't let people scare you off because this med might work for you.
Thank you. I was just prescribed this for serious anxiety from ptsd. My biggest worry is weight gain and swelling. Did you notice anything in that area?
Hi panda, I just got prescribed it as well. I’ve been on it a week and so far no weight gain. But I read all the reviews about it causing weight gain and I hope it doesn’t cause any for me as it’s helping with my anxiety and panic attacks
@@PandaA-cv3mm It will increase your appetite if you're feeling good but thats gottta be on your own to control how much and when you it, how and how much you exercise. But if you're worried about weight gain out of nowehere its not gonna happen, its still under your control as i said above. In other words you're not gonna feel an irresistible will to eat like a madman and not exercise at all. Yes will slow down your metabolism a bit, because it is associated with the GABBA neurotransmitter but its nothing out of your personal control. I hope this helps you.
Gabapentin saved my life after years of panic attacks and then after almost breaking my leg and needing 3 surgeries and 1 month in a hospital and 2 months re learning to walk. I switched to Pregabalin for the pain and it acts similar enough to gabapentin for me so it really is the best option for me personally. This is in addition to physical therapy, supplements, and changing my diet to lessen inflammation
I can't stress enough how dangerous Pregabalin withdrawal was for me. I tapered down, and one night i could not move for over an hour. My entire left side jerked involuntarily. My heart was in extreme pain, and racing. Total confusion and disorientation. Finally i was able to call an ambulance. My wonderful doctor is helping me through this with low dose valium. I am taking Pregabalin for neck osteoarthritis. Since tapering, i have agitation also. Has anyone had similar experiences? For some people , it's a miracle drug. But others are not so lucky.
I have been on this drug for 10 years. Was on 300 once a day. And I am now on 150. And I have a splitting headache and feel very nauseous. How are you feeling now
Yes I take Lyrica 150mg twice a day for neuropathy. And when I don't take it or forge to bring it with me on trips I fall violently ill. I can't sleep, have diarrhea, can't eat ,feel clammy, break out in cold sweats. It's like I got a severe flu. I hate this medicine. But it's like I'm in heaven as soon I start back taking it.
@@familyman831 I am scared what will happen to me if I stop taking it cause the truth is I really need it but I don't want to be on this horrible drug forever. I hv sever neuropathy. My hand and legs go numb all the time out of the blue and than they start to burn/tingle.
People who have bad experiences in withdrawal are the ones more likely to comment about it. Some people who get practically no withdrawal are a lot less likely to watch videos like this or comment about them. So basically don't worry about it unless you get them because your really only listening to the scare stories.

Hey man, I just started taking it as well. I’m on 25mg now. Seems like it’s making my anxiety worse. 2nd day, though what I gather from the comments is that it makes you worse before it makes you better?
Hi everyone! I am sooooo glad I found this video! I had a bad fall in 2008 on ice with both hands full and couldn't catch myself and suffered a concussion and major back, neck and knee pain to my right side. After years of chiropractic treatment, nothing has improved but has gotten worse. Not so much my knee, but I feel like if I'm laying down and someone is laying down above me with their feet on my shoulders trying to pull my head off of my body! That is the only way I can explain the pain......lower back moves to upper right back and shoulder, neck, jaw, ear plugging, pressure in my head and then it moves to the front and top of my head. The neck pain feels like I am being choked on the right side of my throat. Neck and head pressure feels like someone has a thumb at the base of my skull right in the middle and is pushing or is palming my head like a basketball and squeezing. My ears plug out of nowhere! I feel a small lump or nodule in my throat on the right side sometimes, but no-one else seems to feel it. The only time I get relief is when I go to bed. It doesn't really bother me when I am laying down and it doesn't disturb my sleep. Within the last 6 months, I've seen an ENT who did an Endoscopy and didn't see anything on my throat, I've had x-rays and ct scans of back and neck and am told that all is well.....but it's not! Finally, after almost 2 years of waiting, got in to see a neurologist and showed her my cds of the xrays and ct scans and the MRI from when I first fell and she said that everything looked beautiful and squeaky clean! She did the normal strength tests with my fingers, hands, feet, etc and all was well. Her diagnosis...you can guess...."You have Fibromyalgia" and prescribed me Lyrica and told me to go talk to a counselor about my pain. I've had this pain for 2 years non-stop and waited almost 2 years to see any neurologist and paid $200 to be told I need counseling and I have Fibromyalgia and take Lyrica! Needless to say....I know that this pain is not in my head like she thinks it is.....and after paying $78 for a bottle of Lyrica, 50mg/3 times a day I decided to read the papers that come with the prescription. When I read alllllll of the side effects and possible side effects.......there is no way on God's green earth that I would ever take this pill!!! I have a high tolerance for pain and will only take something when I can't take the pain anymore, but I will never take this pill, even though it is a low dosage. So that is why I am so thankful that I found this video and all of your comments!!! If anyone can tell me anything to help me, I am open to listening to it! Sorry, my comment is so long, but I am really at the end of my rope and desperate for some relief but not desperate enough to take Lyrica! Thank you all!
Hi, Carmella! I've been in your boat. Just extremely nervous to start this medication. But 50mg is a relatively low dose. If you find that it's too much to have it 3 times a day, you could cut it down to half. You get extended release versions of the tablet at 75mg which you could take in the night before you sleep. Just start on the lowest dose and let your body get adjusted to it. Wish you a speedy recovery!
So basically you came on here to tell us all how amazing you are because you were obviously not in that amount of pain to try anything. Thanks for that! Lists of side effects are mostly rare or never happen.
Pregabalin is amazing for anxiety, but it is only temporary patch. It lets you live life you like. While doing that find core of your anxiety. Change diet, stop drinking, smoking, start exercise, find stress free job, join yoga etc. Yes there will be time to come off, but you ll be stronger than ever before. wean off slowly. Some peoples symptoms might be worse than actual withdrawals. Also when weaning off more glutamate is released in your brain than you are used to. Maybe glutamate low diet could help that during bad times. Just thinking
Hey man, I just started taking it as well. I’m on 25mg now. Seems like it’s making my anxiety worse. 2nd day, though what I gather from the comments is that it makes you worse before it makes you better?
I have severe neuropathy. My hands and legs go numb all the time and then they start to tingle/burn. I take 150mg of Lyrica twice a day. It helps pretty good I guess. Sometimes I forget to take it and then I realize I've run out and need a new script. If I can't get a hold of my DR. by the 4th day I am violently ill. I wish there was another medicine I could take.
tHAT STUFF IS MURDEROUS. iF YOU QUIT USING IT, THE SIDE EFFECTS ARE TERRIBLE. I was NOT WARNED THAT YOU WOULD SUFFER SEVERE SIDE EFFECTS IF YOU STOP TAKING IT.
Kratom maybe, natural leaf ground into powder if you have never heard of it, i probably would ignore anyone mentioning natural supplements until i actually tried kratom was the only thing that ever stopped my pain, morphine didnt come close
@@___blaggard999___8 I’m trying to get OFF of kratom now. Many people are stuck on it, it’s withdrawal is similar to opiates. Plenty of Facebook pages filled with people suffering. If used 2-3 x a week, with breaks, you can get away with using it. If used daily, you will become dependent and getting off of it is a nightmare.

@@sean13 Kratom IS an opioid. People need to start sugar coating stuff just to avoid investigation and research. It's pretty nasty compared to traditional opioids too. As I was limited in options I almost ordered some red maeng da or whatever but when I searched I found this guy who found what looked like a bird's skeleton in his Kratom powder and it was very gross.
Just don't abuse it. Period. As long as you take it correctly you should be fine. I gained a bunch of weight, dry skin, memory loss, blurry vision, etc. It took me 4 days to withdraw from it. After that I felt better every day.
This horrible drug caused tinnitus and Visual snow for me. Stopped taking it once suicidal ideation occured, only took it for 1 month and had a horrible withdrawal while tapering off. I'm now turning 22 years old, I feel very dumb compared to last year before I took this medicine. I feel confident I would've had a different life had I not taken this medicine. Please be wary.
I took 600mg for years, no problems. I'm back on it again after several years of not using it. Now using for anxiety and not pain. I am on other medications for pain.
Taking it now for post surgery back/leg pain, no noticeable improvement or side effects yet but I'm only on 150mg a day. Increasing 50mg weekly till it works or I notice any side effects but I was previously on gabapentin but it made me dopey and the dry mouth was too bad to continue use with no positive effects. Next step is a possibility of nerve blocking injections and I'm not too keen on the idea. If you're debating back surgery for pain (laminectomy or discectomy) I'd try all the alternatives first as, I found out AFTER surgery, the failure rate of the procedure is 40%.
Na it ain't they tell you ,95 percent. That being they open you up cut through muscle remove protruding disc material what they don't come into it other disc will herniate and you left in agony.
I'm very pissed off at my doctor not asking me about my history of depression and anxiety before prescribing pregabalin to me for back pain, he didn't even tell me about potential withdrawal symptoms. I discontinued the medicine when I started feeling good then over next day or two I start feeling increasingly anxious and dysphoric, I handled myself fine because of my past history going through anxiety and depression but I do not appreciate the flashback into one of worst phase of my life. I learned about withdrawal through youtube and google searches and called up my doctor he told me to restart the medication and get off slowly, I do feel better but I'll be looking for a new doctor needless to say.
@Faith I’m weaning off but verrrrrry slowly. I started on a low dose 100 mg/day until I found out it was a Satan drug. I’m not okay with the side effects. It makes my already severe depression 10 times worse.
My daughter in-law took her life 3 days ago! She had been on the drug for three years. She went through agony! She had gone "cold turkey" for two weeks. I cannot imagine what she went through. Be warned this drug can be your worst nightmare.

It is not a narcotic and does not bind to oipate receptors. I stumbled apon it, and noticed the immediate total lack of desire for the next day's usual methadone dose. Then the next and by the week. It seems to have a very rough benzodiapan withdrawal that is approximated at 2 weeks duration . Within the usual benzo withdrawal experience, it sadly comes with a huge amount of reported suicial ideation (in people whom expressed no such experience pre withdrawal). There are no studies as an opiate withdrawal techniques using it as I mentioned before it would be inappropriate for any Dr to utilise and would open them up to loosing thier license for off schedule medication prescriptions with no known outcomes. There is a short period of of 1/2 weeks use before habit forming. If I were in a position similar to yours. My instinct would be to taper your Kratom very slowly due to the heart issues and blood pressure alone. I would perhaps use it for a week at the end. It has a narcotic sensation to it initially. It has been reclassified made a class C, due to the use of it for the high quality/its extremely short period of habit forming. Be very careful not to over use this medicine, it will make you feel poisioed. No matter your previous experience with high doses of opiates. I cannot stress enough to not use it for more than a week at a time without several days break in-between. Keep. Your dose low as possible as its not necessary to take a large one. I have read that the withdrawal from this medication is as bad or rather worse than heroin. -- and that is from people who had to stop taking it. -- and I have read that it can cause heart issues. All medication has side effects but Pregabalin scares me. I’m on it but weaning off. I’d rather go back on Gabapentin. I just started taking this 2 days ago for TMJ pain. 75mgs once at bedtime. I felt good after 30-60 minutes of taking the first dose. The next day I felt a little anxious , so I went and had a puff of marijuana (like I normally do) and I was instantly super anxious, super panicky and almost suicidal. I stopped smoking and took it again last night. This morning I woke up with a terrible headache and my heart was pounding. This afternoon the heart pounding is gone but still feeling a little anxious. My questions.. obviously the marijuana increased the side effects, but I’m wondering if these other side effects will go away with time? Should I keep taking it or stop? I’m only taking it once a day and I’m noticing a lot of research is recommending 2-3 times a day. Could I be experiencing withdrawals from the pregabilin 12-16 hours after taking the last dose? Or am I feeling withdrawal from not smoking marijuana? (Im a daily user) Any info would be super helpful please!!

So I went cold turkey, basically since last week. I cannot endure the migraines/headaches any longer, it feel like my brain is burning, is that a common effect of the withdraw? How long does it last?
You should have had at the very least video call appointments using Skype or Zoom. Please ask your doctor's office about that option of it hasn't been fixed already
I went to Brazil for a week to see my doctor. Got my medicine. Fibryomialgia is an illness. Don't let one's prejudice damage your body and mind. THE PREJUDICE IS THE PRISION OF IGNORANTS!
Yes, headaches and migraines are regular side effects of withdrawal. This IS NOT a substance that you should go cold turkey because it will f you up pretty bad. 75mg/day is not a high dose, you should be able to taper it pretty fast and without problems.
Lyrica pros: helps many with nerve pain and other health issues. Lyrica cons: May feel constant urge to leap off a building. But it's alright folks. It's allegedly a rare side effect. Seriously? Tell that to the many people going through withdrawal, even with a slow taper. We are not rare. For the record, i am tapering slowly off 150mg . Quite a low dose, which i take for nerve pain. I am tapering off at 10mg very slowly. And as you probably can tell from my post, i am in the full throes of the agitated side effect. Once i take my next dose, i will a calm little medicated lamb. With memory problems, loss of balance and muscle twitching. I don't drink or do drugs for the record. Correction: i do Lyrica. Because now, after taking it for 2 years at a moderate dosage, I crave this rubbish.

I'm totally against the wreckless prescribing of Gabapentinoids but if it works for her it's not that simple. You should definitely discuss it with her doctor though. Also you specified the Mylan brand. Is that a specific ingredient that's causing it and is not found in others or is the pregabalin itself the problem? Maybe you can negotiate a safer generic or the original brand (probably a lot more expensive). I am stuck with very intense spinal pain and I am not the least bit convinced that this is a safe alternative to opioids. In fact it seems to be a lot more dangerous in terms of adverse reactions, dependence and withdrawal, possibly life long complications and on top of that usually very low efficacy. ive been using pregabalin for anxiety almost two years, 600mg a day. ive experienced some weight gain maybe because other medication with pregabalin, i have difficulty to produce speech sometimes and i have memory problems elevated since ive had them before too, dizzines is mildly present sometimes and libido is lowered, physical pain tolerance maybe higher than usual and being in uncomfortable physical conditions is easier. when taking first time and i would feel euphoria for awhile but longer time using same dosage euphoria would cease. for me it has worked keeping anxiety in moderation so it was huge help. but for longer time i feel like my other emotions have been lowered like sensitive emotions like sadness or reactions to beautiful things or otherwise emotions that require internal softness and i miss feeling those emotions like usual. my dreams wouldnt be so interesting either. no clear lucid dreaming and no wet dreams etc. I think alot trying to lower and stop pregabalin because i want to feel those beautiful things again but same time the anxiety i had was crushingly intense and i dont want to live like that either. Maybe if i start to stop now and got tru the one of hellgate of withdrawal symtpoms my anxiety would be in control and i could feel more again. but i cant never know i dont try.
Have you tried physical therapy along with chiropractic care? Sometimes a specific set of exercises tailored just for you can be helpful.
acupuncture or a tens machine
You need to start smoking weed
Pregabalin is amazing for anxiety, but it is only temporary patch. It lets you live life you like. While doing that find core of your anxiety. Change diet, stop drinking, smoking, start exercise, find stress free job, join yoga etc. Yes there will be time to come off, but you ll be stronger than ever before. wean off slowly. Some peoples symptoms might be worse than actual withdrawals. Also when weaning off more glutamate is released in your brain than you are used to. Maybe glutamate low diet could help that during bad times. Just thinking

How are you dealing with the memory issues? Just found out a family member has been taking 150 mg a day for the past 2 years. Curiously enough, they’re having memories issues too, like forgetting stuff quickly and not understanding basic stuff in general, crazy!!!
@Grams 😂 Medicatedl little lamb, i like that😃 Well its been a long time and i have tapered down slowly from 150mg to 75mg.
Good thing is my balance has improved, my heart is not racing .
I do feel emotionally numb though.
@@paolo2512 My memory is still terrible, but i am trying to see the funny side of it. Its short term memory loss, but its probably the least rotten side effect.
I am still on 75mg daily though, so when i finally get off it i hope to remember at least something😃.
Really sorry that your family member is having trouble.
600mg for 8 years now - Dr omitted the addiction that comes with it. Withdrawls are terrible if I forget a dose, after 2 days I can't function at all. Even too ill to walk directly across the road to the Chemist for my script.
20 minutes after taking it again, I'm multitasking - cooking, cleaning, typing, reading and full of energy. It's got me but what can I do? My body is broken and won't heal, so I take it but worry what happens if my tolerance goes up further.
Look into doctor Green cbd, it's the best I've even taken. And will defo help u

Me 18 (male) ive got pregabalin prescribed: I'm on 125mg (1-0-1-0) so 250mg per day (started with 50mg per day) because of neuropathic nerve pain caused by alocholsim (sober alcoholic), RLS and anxiety.... The medication reliefed my pain very well.... but not enough... especially for my legs... arr so I was wondering if you would recommend tpüo increase the dosage to 150mg 2x per day so 300mg daily.... or is this risky because of withdrawls or something like that or is there a point for the pain where a higher pregabalin dosage wont be more useful

Its very risky, don't increase the dose, because its withdrawal is 100x worse compared to alcohol.

Pregabalin from Mylan can cause the loss of vision completely... I'm scared for my mom so ill tell her to tell her doctor that she will go back to Cinarizin, even if her heads starts to hurt again.. there are a lot of side effects and she has to take 75mg 2 times a day too... its not worth it.
It is also as abused as any substance out there so they are literally selling snake oil when they sign the prescription with the Lyrica pen the salesmen give them!
I regularise with 75 mg daily and not found better..
What can i do now..???
By what mechanism does lyrica cause peripheral edam? Kind of confused

How is it different from gabapentin? Or gaba? You did not mention Porphyria.
I can't answer the gabapentin question, but I can say gabapentin had zero effect on me while this helped with my nerve pain. I'd like to see the answer too.
To put it crudely pregabalin is a purer version than gabapentin. Which also means it more expensive (in the UK at least.)
That would be a good topic for a future video, I'll see what I can come up with.

ive been using pregabalin for anxiety almost two years, 600mg a day. ive experienced some weight gain maybe because other medication with pregabalin, i have difficulty to produce speech sometimes and i have memory problems elevated since ive had them before too, dizzines is mildly present sometimes and libido is lowered, physical pain tolerance maybe higher than usual and being in uncomfortable physical conditions is easier. when taking first time and i would feel euphoria for awhile but longer time using same dosage euphoria would cease. for me it has worked keeping anxiety in moderation so it was huge help. but for longer time i feel like my other emotions have been lowered like sensitive emotions like sadness or reactions to beautiful things or otherwise emotions that require internal softness and i miss feeling those emotions like usual. my dreams wouldnt be so interesting either. no clear lucid dreaming and no wet dreams etc.
If that would be the case i can always tell doctor to get back to medication.
