ok yes!!! i thought i was the only one who had trouble w the our place pan after a couple of months bc i kept seeing so many glowing reviews. glad to know i wasn't the only one but also sad that i found out the hard way lol
i had problems with the nonstick as well and if you email them their customer service is really cool! They’re sending me a new one in exchange for this old one that I’ve had issues with.
Omg yes! I also debated during the holidays the price was so good! But after many reviews and also watching Test Kitchen just talk about ceramic pans. They're just not good for high heat and it will ruin the surface faster over time. So unless you're only using low heat it's not the best option. I also don't think it's ovenproof right?
@@KarenSanchez-dc2ij oo thanks for the tip! at this point im unsure if i would want to get another that might have the same problems but i'll keep this in mind...
ooo i love all your kitchen essentials. that little le crueset is so freaking cute!! i have a medium sized one and i really love it!! i recently purchased a beautiful ceramic spoon rest hand made by my friend and it looks so nice on my stove. another fave is just a nice wooden spoon and cutting board. if you oil your wooden tools regularly they can last for many years!! :)
I always love your review since it's just super honest and sincere from your own experience. Thanks for sharing all stories about your kitchen essential. I love your attitude about living ❤️
your skin looks amazing!! glow baby, glow! can we please get a tutorial and some cooking videos? I loved when you were posting them a couple years back.
something i just got last year that i love is a scraper tool i got for washing dishes, it's so good because now i dont have to use my nails and i always hated using sponges or things like that because then the bits of food get stuck in it which is gross, i got a set of bamboo ones from a low waste shop but theres like plastic ones too so just depends what you prefer...those kitchen shears are beautiful! and i love that they can come apart....also glad you mentioned the always pan, i personally feel it's a bit gimmicky but i know a lot of people love it,,,i only cook certain things in my nonstick pans to prolong their life and wash my different kitchen items in ways that help preserve them
Christine, Please do a cast iron care video. I just pulled mine out an want to get my son comfy with using it before he moves out. But I'm hesitant to use it myself!😅
It's crazy how long i've been watching you, i remember when you got your first skillet!! i got hooked up on it and bought one myself, best decision ever, almost ten years since that! Oh cutting boards!!! it might be so dumb, but im lost in that, can't find one that it's sturdy, cool and lasting, any recommendations?
Make sure you're not using soap and water! Salt and water will really take so much off of it. Once you're done cleaning it, season it with a high heat oil (just spray/drop oil in it and spread with a cloth!).
Wow. Kitchamajig. Haha now I need one! My latest proud vintage find was a Dymo Organizer 1610. It's a label maker with a script option! I love it. My friend also has a typewriter that types in script! I never would have thought I'd be nostalgic vintage touches but here I am. Also would you share how you make rice in a dutch oven? I feel dependent on my rice cooker.
Luuuurrrve this! I’m currently obsessed w all these household items :) I ordered an our place :/ and am waiting for it. Ugh. That sucks. Thank you for your honesty. I need a good pan for eggs. Sigh.
I have NEVER heard a kettle referred to as a water heater! That’s so quirky but I love it. I’ve heard kettles really aren’t common in American homes? Could not live without mine!! Aussie here!
The video I've been waiting for for years 😂 also random question but I have a tiffany blue kitchen aid and am unsure what le creuset colour to get .... Do I get the same colour or the opposite colour like an orange ??
I am my own dishwasher 😅 I used the sponge the pan came with and made sure I never went past medium heat but that still happened AND I’ve asked all my friends with the pan if they’ve had any issues with it and they all said the same thing. Incredible marketing, phenomenal design, but does not stand the test of time.
hello christine ilysm. who is the cover of "Sunny" that u played on ur november worldwide fm show by? It's unshazamable but its changing my entire life😔
Aw! Sorry! Totally meant as a joke! The worst part is how much admin you’ve created for yourself having to reply to us (mainly) Brits... lol. You’re content is deliciously rad, btw. ☺️
noted. thanks for the feedback; I really appreciate it. I don't usually use background music but I was trying to distract from the echoing in the recording cause I didn't use a mic -- bad idea!
I loveee iron skillets and my love has only grown deeper. it really isn't that hard to make it nonstick, and to clean. i followed reddit instructions and mostly clean it with just coarse salt and it's so satisfying and i hate dishwashing and am weak af and i still think iron skillets are worth it. i have a non-enamel dutch oven too and it's so hardy and so much cheaper than enamel ones. stuff like our place ends up unfortunately being a bunch of classic millennial (hi, me a millennial) aesthetically pleasing marketing #blandbrands. but it's a disappointment how they're willing to sell this either without enough due diligence or knowing that it would break down rapidly. for me, i think the next thing i'm coveting is a fish spatula! i don't really eat fish anymore but i heard it's the most versatile spatula.
there's a brand called www.eaziglide.com/ which does AMAZING non-toxic non-stick pots and pans. I have two, as well as a cast iron pan and le creusets and I love them all equally. Just such high quality and will last.
OMG THANK GOD AN HONEST REVIEW OF THE OUR PLACE PAN!!! I almost bought one for my new apt but *THANK U* for telling the truth!!!!

every time I'm reminded that it's not normal to have a kettle in america my mind is blown
Totally! “Water heater” made me giggle
I don't know if that's true, i have one and everyone I know uses one. How could you not lol
Huh? It's totally normal to have a kettle, most people I know do anyway... xD
I have a kettle. I need my water the right temperature for tea. They’re becoming more popular in the States.
Why do british people think they're the only ones who drink tea as if they invented it? Most Americans have kettles too, it is normal.
you're GLOWING!! that highlight omg
thank you! that's a full face of Merit (new minimalist makeup brand I'm trying out)
my life goal is now to find a le cruset in a thrift store!
put it out there in the universe! you'll find it -- i find them all the time

Genuinely shocked as an Irish person to hear a kettle be called a "water heater" hahaha
I miss your cooking! I would love to see more videos on your cast iron and things you cook!! You’ve inspired me to start collecting antique cast iron!
totally agree, investing in quality pans makes a huge difference. for xmas I got a set of all clad and haven't looked back. btw you look beautiful 😍

how do u maintain the rust/water markings for the water kettle ??

I regret buying the ourplace pan, it chipped in the middle even though I never used metal utensils, and the paint started coming off on the edges

Eyy I had a brain fart thinking of the name
@@chrissstttiiine haha the name water heater is a much more accurate name than kettle though really!
Your cast iron looks AMAZING. I suck at keeping them. I kill cast iron pans faster than some people kill plants.

ugh I hate the always pan, I also used it everyday for about 8 months and it completely lost its non stick. i just use it for sauce now. sigh.
Silicon (rubber) spatula: one of this country's greatest inventions.
Hate the Our Place pan. I was gifted one and it doesn't even compare to my All Clad.
All Clad pans are fantastic
never clicked on a vid so fast

sad the spatula is sold out
I wanna say it’s available through west elm but I’m not 100% sure
Damn it the cleaver and the scissors.. gah!!
