Loved this tutorial. Mine turned out super cute. The horns gave me issues and my cake was too small so I had to scale it all down but it was still so cute. I would have liked to know cake size used in video.
Thank you! ☺️ Isn’t that the wonderful thing about making cakes? 🙄 (note the sarcasm) 😆 it’s all trial and error really, isn’t it, but I’m glad it all worked out for you in the end, because at the end of the day, it’s all about being creative and pushing yourself past your comfort zone. 🥰 Oh, and the cake I used was an 8” and it was about 6” tall I’d say.
Yup, this is all Wilton colors. A dab of royal blue for the main color, orange for to dots and the ball on his antennas, kelly green and lemon yellow mixed for the horns and lemon yellow for the hat. The had was difficult I will admit, helps if you can make or find a cone shaped support for underneath. I used paper towel and it was a little tricky.
Nope, no stencil. Just found a cute cake I liked on Google and drew up a similar face with a few small changes and the antennas were made by curling flower wire around a dowel to get the curly shape then I just added two little balls of fondant on the tops and allowed them to dry. It helps to make a tiny twist at the end of your flower wire so the fondant will have something to attach to. 😊 Hope this was helpful!
Made them from fondant, they were real simple, I just drew up the face on paper and made a stencil that I could use to trace the shapes onto the fondant then cut it out.
I would say the refrigerator would be best, it's buttercream so if it gets warm it could melt. The fondant pieces don't like refrigeration very much but it you put it in a box that will help draw any moisture away.
Yup I do! I am an American buttercream lover! Here’s the recipe! 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 tbsp vanilla(I use clear vanilla) Pinch of salt Whip these 3 ingredients in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment on, until light in color and fluffy peaks form Add 1/2 cup shortening and whip again until no lumps remain Sift 4 cups of powdered sugar and add all at once to the butter mixture (or a little bit at a time if you prefer but I dump it all in at the same time) Mix until just combined and no dry streaks remain Finally add 2-3 tbsp water or milk or cream( whichever you prefer to taste) and mix for an additional 20-30 seconds I really find adding all the sugar all at once really knocks out any air bubbles that may have formed. It’s a little rough on the ole mixer but mines a kitchen aide, she can take it😆 I only recommend adding all the sugar at once if you are using a stand mixer tho, that might be quite difficult to mix by hand.
Ughhh this was so much help I needed this exact cake for a first birthday !
I’m happy I could help in some way! 🥰
Hope it turned out great for you!

Great decorations!!!
Thank you so much and thanks for watching!🥰
Definitely cute and fantastic bright colours, especially the orange😍
Thanks! I like to add a little white food color before I add the colors, I find it really makes them pop!
@@TheRobynsNest that's a great tip. Thank you.
@@vanessay8655 You're very welcome!☺️
What color did you use for the fur and the brand?
Wow!!!! Is this sugar paste
Nope, just fondant. I added tylose powder to the parts I needed to harden (the hat)😊
Too cute to eat!
😁 thanks!
@@TheRobynsNest What size mat did you purchase?
@@ilovebuttercream7684 mine is the 24" x 18"
Do you put anything on the wires before you insert them into the cake?
Yes, they are wrapped with Wilton brand flower tape! Thanks for your question!
@@TheRobynsNest thank you
Does your buttercream recipe cover the whole cake or how many batches of buttercream do you use
Pretty sure it was 2 batches for that cake.
Did you make the fondant? If so can you link the video?
No, I’m sorry, I mainly use Wilton premade fondant.
What color did you use on the cake? & did you use the Wilton food coloring for the fondant?
Yup, this is all Wilton colors. A dab of royal blue for the main color, orange for to dots and the ball on his antennas, kelly green and lemon yellow mixed for the horns and lemon yellow for the hat. 😍😍😍love it
Thanks for watching ❤
Hi, can I use chantilly to make the fur?
If you can find a stable whipped icing that would work but I don't think whipped cream is stable enough to hold up on its own.
The Robyn's Nest Thank you so much!
Do you have a stencil pattern for the eyes, and mouth? Also how did you make the antennas?
Nope, no stencil. Just found a cute cake I liked on Google and drew up a similar face with a few small changes and the antennas were made by curling flower wire around a dowel to get the curly shape then I just added two little balls of fondant on the tops and allowed them to dry. can you use gum paste instead of fondant?
I don't see why not😉
How much batter did u pour to the 8 inch pan?
I don't believe had a good vanilla cake recipe at this time, I think I used box cake mix. If so, it was two boxes divided among the 3 pans.
@@TheRobynsNest Thank you
Where did you get them eyes and mouth
Made them from fondant, they were real simple, I just drew up the face on paper and made a stencil that I could use to trace the shapes onto the fondant then cut it out.
What piping tip did you use?
It’s grass piping tip #233
How do you store this cake once is done ?
I would say the refrigerator would be best, it's buttercream so if it gets warm it could melt. The fondant pieces don't like refrigeration very much but it you put it in a box that will help draw any moisture away.
The Robyn's Nest thank you 🙏 !!!
what size pan do you use?
8 inch pan.
2 inch high or 3?
Do you have a regular butter cream recipe?
