I’m a sole proprietor working from home. What is best practice for paying a portion of my rent & utilities from PPP, and can that 40% be used for business subscriptions, marketing consulting or editing services? Also, what is allowable to use the money for after you pay yourself? Would we need documentation on what that money was used for? Thank you!
Hi Hannah! First of all I want to say your videos about the PPP loan have been very helpful for me. Thank you! I have a question, I submitted an application for the first draw and I used a draft of my schedule C and I used line 31. My accountant recommended that I contribute more to my SEP IRA to lower my tax bill... now when I finalize my taxes my schedule C will change from the draft I submitted but it won’t materially change the number for line 31 and the calculation will be the same. Is that ok? Thanks!
I prayed for God to bless you and open doors for you and close doors of haters against you. Thank you for your help. You are a great blessing to many people.
What if, I have been doing business but never filed a schedule C would I need to create one? If approved then file it? Don't want fraud to happen to me!??!
So I’m self employed and let me kno if I understand this correctly we use the loan for the 8 week period and can use it all for payroll cost and only have to show the bank transaction of us paying ourselves?
Great video. My understanding is that one may now be eligible for the loan based on line 7 of schedule C (Gross Income) and not Line 31 (Net Income). Many last year did not qualify because they had a loss (line 31), but with the new apparent calculation many may now qualify. Also, those that received funds in round 1 and have not received forgiveness may go back and adjust based on line 7.

Has anyone who is a sole proprietier or self employed gotten the PPP loan and spent it out of their personal account? I'm looking into opening a business account and wondering if it's totally necessary.
Thanks so very much for your videos! Extremely helpful and informative! I know that the PPP Loans approved in 2020 had another requirement that owners couldn’t pay themselves more than 2.5 months of their 2019 net income. I can’t seem to find if this is a requirement for the loans approved in 2020, also. I can only find that the cap is $100k, like you mentioned. Thank you so much!!
Yes, that 2.5 months limit is the same. If you use 2020 schedule C to apply for the loan, then you would use 2020 schedule C to calculate the owners comp too.
What is the best way I can pay myself? Can I do an online transfer ? Also- I just got applied and got my first round last week, can I still get the second round or is it too soon from the first round that just deposited ?
I believe you must wait few wks or couple of months b4 applying for the Second round. Setup auto transfers whichever way you use to get paid.. yes best way is thru bank so everything is documented when you are ready to apply for forgiveness.
Love this explanation and thank you so much for the breakdown! The only thing I still can't seem to find info on is the "bank statements" part of record keeping. If making a transfer from your business bank account to your personal account, how do you actually distinguish that it is a PPP owners compensation replacement transfer and not an income transfer from actual business sales? If you choose a certain day of the week and a specific amount, and make that same transfer over 10 weeks, would that be enough to distinguish it from other current business "income" transfers? If that makes sense...

Hello! Hope you read this 🥺 We just received our ppp … unfortunately we don’t have a business account just a regular. I would hold the money till we create a business account but the problem with that is the timing. We’re trying to spend the money in 10weeks to receive full forgiveness. It takes 3 weeks to receive a LLC so should we wait or create a savings naming it “ppp payout”? By giving it a name wouldn’t that keep down confusion?
Hi Hanna! Clars got her loan in May 2020. She created a biz account and dumped the loan in it. She wrote a payroll check to herself month 1, another payroll check to herself month 2 but still had the last half a month in her biz account toll now. Can she still utilize that half month as payroll cost? or did she need to use it 100% within 8 - 24 week period. Your insight is appreciated as always!
Yes, she can still take it as "payroll costs". Even if it wasn't distributed out of the account, you could still take the 100% as payroll cost given that the Schedule C line 31 is the proof of "payroll costs".
What if you recieved the money into your personal account? Can you open a business account transfer it into there then transfer it back to a personal account?
My understanding is that of March 1, 2021 the non payroll expenses have been expanded. Do you know what the new non payroll expenses are now? Any help would be appreciated.
@claraCFOGroup I don’t know if I’m hearing you right. Since I have no employees I can take all of the PPP money I get and pay it all to myself? Thanks! Misty Whitson
Hi @nkreseknowledge.. You must wait a minimum of 8 weeks before applying for the 2nd draw as well as spend the full amount you received from PPP1. I go into more detail in this video: ruclips.net/video/Y3ngwuMoMxs/видео.html
Do you know where it is documented regarding amount of owner comp allowed and actual earning during that same period? I assumed you could only make up the difference from the average used for the loan. Love to know where in the SBA guidelines that it qualifies what can be claimed as owner comp. I have not seen it documented very well, especially with my question of other net income during that same period.
Question: since the stipulation says "..wages down 25% in any given quarter in 2020 versus 2019..." I wouldn't qualify because I started Schedule C qualifying work in October of 2019, right? I have no "wages from 2019" to compare 2020 wages to. Thanks.
My form states revised as of March 18, 2021. After dividing by 12 it says to multiply by 2.5 + EIDL( not the advance the loan) is this presentation all work the same now except that part?
Good morning. Question on the owner compensation replacement. If the loan was based on $2000/month average net profit and during the open period of 26 weeks you actually earned $1000 /month, can you augment that with a $1000 for that month from the PPPL2 to bring your net earned back to the average used to file for the loan or can you draw the full $2000 for that month?
Just a quick question on opening a business account if we don't already have one. I have had an ein for 2 yrs but I've always done my taxes as a dba under my social. Is it going to get sticky if I open a business account with the ein I've never used? Or should I just open a new personal account and use it as a business account. Also I have already gotten my 2nd draw.
I just want to understand something, If we can use our tax form for 2020, that means if we started the business after feb 2020, does this still apply? Or we still don't qualify for the ppp? Thanks.
Hi i was confused about the PPP loan for the self-employed business owners' compensation, my local tax pretold me he could not apply for my PPP loan for me, and he has been doing my taxes he said I would qualify even though my 2019 was profit loss, is that true? There seems to be little discussion about what makes one qualified to apply. If you are a Sole Proprietor, say a Realtor, and you actually made significantly more money in 2020 than 2019 in all 4 quarters are you still eligible to apply for the loan ?

I did not have a 25% reduction for ANY quarter in 2020 vs 2019. My question: I did not know they sent my 1st draw until today 5/7/21. The money was sent to my account on 4/14/21 ugh. They did not send me a notification that the money was sent. I opened a second PERSONAL account (NO business account). I have heard we can send the entire amount in one lump sum. I am not sure what to do at this point because I am now 3 weeks behind the 8 ball. Should I send to my other personal account in one lump sum or send for 8 weeks?? Do GIG workers need to worry about the 60% rule? I am hearing so many different ways to do this and I am confused BIG TIME??
I have a question. If line 31 is 7,792 divided by 12 equal 649.33 x 2.5 equal 1,623.33. Are you saying that $1,623.33 is all can be applied for a PPP Loan as a sole proprietor? LLC

The SBA gave me a criminal record error code incorrectly. I went to the courthouse and got a certified copy of my background which proves I shouldn't be denied...I forwarded this to my loan officer and he said he would pass along to SBA...should I wait or just reapply with a different lender?
Hi, I am a sole proprietor truck driver, and my gross income is exponentially higher than my net income. Will these new applications use the gross 1099 number, or continue with the schedule C net income?

Ok. I went thru a service (Blueacorn) to apply and was approved. I received 9300. I would like to use it all for owners compensation. I have a question....hopefully I get an answer cause I just can’t figure it out. So if my PPP LOAN is for $6623 and I transfer it to a new checking account how do I pay myself? $6623 divided by 8? Divided by 10? Can I just transfer the $6623 back to my personal account cause I paid myself at once. What do I do. Please help!!!!
I did not apply for the ppp loan/grant because it was confusing and I didn't know if I would qualify. I received a 1099 form for 2019. I was an independent contractor for DoorDash and a few other companies like it. I only realized yesterday that I possibly was eligible for ppp. Did I miss my window? Can I apply now? Would this affect my unemployment?
There’s a new window specially for small businesses under 20 employees till March 9th. The aim is to help the smallest of businesses and for woman and poc owned to receive better access to funds. From my research you can’t get unemployment payments at the same time. I’m guessing just fill out our claim as the amount you’re getting with the ppp and it will flag as excessive earns for that week. Obviously not giving you legal/business advice but that’s my best guess.
Hi Hannah, so if I’m understanding correctly, their only needs to be proof I payed myself once as one big lump sum correct? Once the funds are in my personal account I can use for whatever necessary since I am paying myself?

It takes 3 weeks to receive a LLC so should we wait or create a savings naming it “ppp payout”? By giving it a name wouldn’t that keep down confusion?
When would I have had to start my business by?
Thank you so much for your help!!✅✅✅✅
Happy to help!
Yes @DariusWigfallEL
Great question! I was getting this question a lot, so I made another video to answer it: ruclips.net/video/6Pu27LcvmgU/видео.html
My understanding is that of March 1, 2021 the non payroll expenses have been expanded. Do you know what the new non payroll expenses are now? Any help would be appreciated.
@claraCFOGroup
I don’t know if I’m hearing you right. Since I have no employees I can take all of the PPP money I get and pay it all to myself? Thanks! Misty Whitson
How long do you have to wait before you apply for the 2nd draw? What has to be done or in place before you apply to the 2nd draw?
What tax entity type? Schedule C? What do you mean "regarding amount of owner comp allowed and actual earning during that same period? "
You're amazing. thanks for the info
Thanks for watching!
Question: since the stipulation says "..wages down 25% in any given quarter in 2020 versus 2019..." I wouldn't qualify because I started Schedule C qualifying work in October of 2019, right? I have no "wages from 2019" to compare 2020 wages to. Thanks.
How do you properly close your cover period?
My form states revised as of March 18, 2021. After dividing by 12 it says to multiply by 2.5 + EIDL( not the advance the loan) is this presentation all work the same now except that part?
QUESTION...Do I file for the forgiveness 2.5 months after the approval date or the deposit date? I was approved last week but still haven't received.
So in this case you got $5000? $2000 X 2.5? You can get $5000 as owners comp, regardless of what you ACTUALLY earned during the period.
@@ClaraCFO Is that documented ANYWHERE, because I have not seen it.
My bank allowed me to open a biz account under my social. I would just make it clear to them that you are a sole proprietor.
Hi Ms.Anna, Please give me a advise . Which Lender is the best for apply PPP in this time? Thanks.
Hi Hieu, I don't have a "best" option for you. I have seen some people use Paypal with success this time around if they don't have a bank.
I just want to understand something, If we can use our tax form for 2020, that means if we started the business after feb 2020, does this still apply? Or we still don't qualify for the ppp? Thanks.
Nice job, Hannah! I appreciate your help very much. Stay safe.
Thanks for watching!
I still am not clear on how you can use the money for yourself if you are so proprietor.
Hi @Cosandra Odame, I have a video that should help: ruclips.net/video/CMdOmhM1tt8/видео.html
Mine was over Calculate it....Can I refuse the second drawer on the PPP
Please explain non payroll cost expense for independent contractors. Car lease payment is eligible expense and apartment rent also???
Hi i was confused about the PPP loan for the self-employed business owners' compensation, my local tax pretold me he could not apply for my PPP loan for me, and he has been doing my taxes he said I would qualify even though my 2019 was profit loss, is that true? I am confused all these different stories .???????
I am lyft operator. Can I get Ppp and unemployment at the same time.
When I file forgiveness what expenses I can show. Can I show my car payment.
There seems to be little discussion about what makes one qualified to apply. If you are a Sole Proprietor, say a Realtor, and you actually made significantly more money in 2020 than 2019 in all 4 quarters are you still eligible to apply for the loan ?
I didn't get about the 24 weeks....could I get more explanation about it? Please
This video should help! ruclips.net/video/CMdOmhM1tt8/видео.html
What if I’m I have an unregistered business and I’ve never had a schedule c?
Hi Hannah, What if I am a sole proprietor WITH employees. Do I combine line 31 with the rest of the payroll costs to employees from the selected year? And then do I have to split the payment up between myself and employees accordingly in order to get the loan forgiven? thank you!
Talk that Talk! Good Stuff
I have two 1040c forms in my tax return, and womply counted only income from one of them. Do I have to apply for another PPP to get money on second 1040c? Thank you!
When can you apply for PPP2? Immediately after you use the PPP1 funds?
Yes - you have to USE PPP1 before getting PPP2, but you don't have to have it forgiven. So it must be at least 8 weeks between the two.
@@ClaraCFO
I understood that it had to be forgiven first so therefore I wasn't able to apply for the second one because they shut it down before then period or am I wrong can I still apply?
Hannah, Hello! I am a LYFT Driver. I received my PPP first draw. Although I was approved for draw #2 I did not approve it because I did not qualify under the terms for receiving it.
LLC
Hey I haven’t filled taxes for my gig job. Didn’t really know how. Can I still apply for the first ppp program.
I applied and was approved for the first draw loan in the summer of 2020 by using my 2019 schedule c. Can I modify and use the 2020 schedule c instead before I apply for forgiveness?
The SBA gave me a criminal record error code incorrectly. I went to the courthouse and got a certified copy of my background which proves I shouldn't be denied...I forwarded this to my loan officer and he said he would pass along to SBA...should I wait or just reapply with a different lender?
As long as I disperse the amount for payroll/compensation within 8 weeks to 24 weeks I’m good??
what if you are a sole proprietors and have a employee will i just pay them to
Thanks for sharing n caring.....
Hi, I am a sole proprietor truck driver, and my gross income is exponentially higher than my net income. Will these new applications use the gross 1099 number, or continue with the schedule C net income?

Definitely wait for guidance because you are a prime candidate who will benefit from these new rules! Should be finding out details in the next week. Have you gotten a PPP loan before? or is this the first one you are considering?
@@ClaraCFO I have gotten a PPP loan before from kabbage yes. Also, any other places that I can apply for a ppp loan? Kabbage says I am qualified up to $2,500 (second application) which is the same exact amount as the first one. I feel like I shouldn't have applied but I hope we have guidance soon. Thanks for such a fast reply
Hello, as a sole proprietor, can I get Eidl and the PPP at the same time?. Thank you
Ok. I went thru a service (Blueacorn) to apply and was approved. I received 9300. I would like to use it all for owners compensation. However, for personal reasons, I have to limit the amount of money for a weekly draw going into my checking account. It works out perfectly for me to use the amount based on taking 60%. Can I put the balance into a personal savings account, but still consider it owners compensation?
I have a question....hopefully I get an answer cause I just can’t figure it out. So if my PPP LOAN is for $6623 and I transfer it to a new checking account how do I pay myself? $6623 divided by 8? Divided by 10? Can I just transfer the $6623 back to my personal account cause I paid myself at once. What do I do. Please help!!!!
9:08 she answers that. I had the same Q. :)
Yes!
So do I have to save receipts or anything
