- Join my friend Gary and I for a tour of the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at Disneyland Resort, some Disney shopping in Downtown Disney's World of Disney, followed by an After Hours event called: Sweethearts Nite. A ticketed event themed around lovers, friends and family.
I'm Adam Hattan, a family-friendly theme park and vacation vlogger from the United Kingdom, who often vlogs the magic of Disney Parks. I love going to Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, Disneyland in California and sailing with Disney Cruise Line. I'm excited to be sharing this wondrous Disneyland vlog series with you!

In this Disneyland Vlog, we arise at the Disneyland Hotel a little later in the day. A rest we very much needed after four very intense park days. We decide to venture to the neighbouring hotel: Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. This hotel is a bit more expensive than the Disneyland Hotel, and is ultimately why we didn't choose to stay there. However, it was great to have a walk around the lobby, merchandise shop, and dine at their quick service: Craftsman Grill.
From the Grand Californian, we walk through Downtown Disney to the World of Disney shop. This massive Disney Parks store offers some of the things you might find on ShopDisney, as well as Disney Parks exclusives. We check out some of the apparel, collector dolls, Disney100 collection and more.
After a quick rest at the Disneyland Hotel, it's then off to Sweethearts Nite! This 'Disneyland After Dark' is what's commonly referred to as an After Hours event. These are seperately ticketed events that allow you to experience some party exclusive opportunities after the park has technically closed for the day. During the party we ride: It's A Small World, Jungle Cruise, Flying Dumbo's and the Carousel. We grab a bite (literally) at the Bengal Barbeque, eat a small meal at Docking Bay 7 in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and check out some of the event exclsuive merchandise. Whilst the length of lines restricted how much we could do, we did manage to do an Aladdin themed photo op, meet Mickey & Minnie, Donald & Daisy and Esmeralda & Phoebus, as well as watch the Sweethearts Nite fireworks from Main Street.
By 11pm, we were exhausted and felt like we'd got everything out of the party we could have. On the way back to the hotel, we answer the question: Is Sweethearts Nite worth the money? ($159 per person, plus tax). We were very much speaking from the perspective of UK guests who have flown a long way and already spent a lot of money to be at the resort.
We round up our day back at the Disneyland Hotel and turn in before another fun filled day at Disneyland in the next vlog. Don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss when the next vlog goes up. Thanks for watching!

The big draw for Sweetheart's Nite is the Royal Ball in the Small World section. You might have missed it and only caught the band playing their initial warm-up song, but its where all the couples of Disney movies (Cinderella and her prince, Aladdin and Jasmine etc) come out in front of the band and dance with each other and people around them. I'm surprised none of the CMs mentioned that because the high character interaction from here is the main reason why people love this event so much.
I saw clips of it on Molly and Allen's vlog at Sweethearts night. Looks very fun.

As a Disneyland local that comes at least a few times a month, I NEVER go to the special ticketed events after going a couple times years ago. Just not worth it. Not for a local, not for someone on vacation. A full Disneyland day beats ANY special event ticketed day. If you are a local, the price of these events pays your down payment of the annual pass. As a traveler, just not enough time to get the value out of the ticket. Besides, the vibe of a regular Disneyland day is MAGICAL. For those that are attending these events because they want something different, I would suggest Universal or not going to Disneyland for a few weeks and when you return, it’ll be an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT. In any case, Adam, Gary, you two are the most entertaining theme park RUclipsrs in existence and I love watching. Thank you!
I'm not a California resident. But if I were to go to Disneyland around Halloween, u better believe I am going to Halloween event for the Villians!!!!

Nice to see some Disney vloggers that are honest (that sounds shady but it's true) Sometimes Disney is really over the top with the prices for things. For me, $159 is a lot of money but knowing that this is one of the only times that you can 100% see Meg and Hercules I wouldn't begrudge paying that as Hercules is my absolute favourite film.

I will say, I feel the same way about Goofy's Kitchen, but it's sad to hear that the Sweetheart's Night is not worth the price! So thankful for your honest reviews - you make planning trips a breeze

Sorry you were a bit disappointed in the Sweetheart's nite. We locals have been a bit disappointed with most of these After Dark events, too, since they have minimal theming. I think they're probably best for locals who don't have passes as most of the lines are shorter. Oogie Boogie Nite is probably the best of the After Dark events at DL. Thank you again for another entertaining vlog - you two never disappoint. :-) 💕

It’s so funny seeing you guys so tired. One time, for Disneyland, as I used to live in California I got to go to grad nite. Meaning tons of high school seniors attending the parks. Anyways, I woke up at 4am so I could be at my school by 5am, on the bus for 6 hours with at least and hour long stop for lunch. Got to the parks at about 1 with the line was in the parks about 2pm and didn’t leave them till 3am. Slept for.. maybe an hour on the bus home that morning, then was awake the rest of the day picking people up from the airport for my graduation! 😂
My tea just came out of my nose when Gary said “I’ll grass anyone up”😂😂🤣🤣

I’m sorry sweethearts night wasn’t the best.. locals also feel it’s tip off as well! We buy the special event tickets just so we can try to get onto rides we normally can’t get on without a genie + or LL. California taxes also don’t help 😅
Yeah that quick service at the GCH is a recent find of mine as well and it's simply lovely. It's pricey but the food is AMAZING.
Also I find a lot of the ticketed events on the west coast are this way. Truly. Such a bummer.

I bought that globe and 100 year Mickey back to New Zealand with me when we went for two weeks in December just gone. Absolutely LOVE them and I see the globe everyday and it reminds me of the wonderful memories me and my two teen sons had.

The only nag I had with Sweethearts Nite was the fact that Stitch & Angel's line in Tomorrowland was over an hour long, alias to what WDW experiences with Jack & Sally (or even Nick & Judy) during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Other than that it was fun.
So sorry for your disappointment, in the fleecing, but we enjoy your videos and just seeing you and Gary are a joy for us.

When you spend that much for a special night, it's horribly disappointing to get really long lines and bad food. At least you got to the Grand Californian, which really is spectacular. And all the hotel food is good. It makes for a nice break to just pop in for a meal.
Our fam stayed at paradise pier this Feb and we were so excited for our DCA day we were able to head into a special entrance tor paradise pier hotel guests that pushes u out by goofy sky school which was awesome when we headed back to the hotel and came back to watch world of color one

It might amuse you to know that the Sweetheart Night t-shirts that you saw in this vlog were on sale at that Company D store for $3.99, and there were lots of them! FWIW, sweetheart nite is an homage to the "date night' Disneyland had in the 1950s/1960s.
The beef is way better than the chicken at Bengal BBQ. it is pricey but sometimes you just need some protein and not all the fried carbs! It's a nice treat

How does Disneyland just always nail the nighttime entertainment?! The projections on Small World were 10/10!
I saw that Grand Californian Quater Zip when we went to DL... Mr Bahama does make a good Quater Zip! Just a reason to stay at the Grand Californian (as if another one was needed!)
I am excited by these shoulder magnet pals, i have been wearing a pascal 'buggy buddy' (designed with little arms to wrap around a kids pram) on the strap of my park bag on my shoulder for YEARS and i feel less alone now :) :P
