I live about a mile from this location..grew up when it was Southern Pacific. I remember back when there would be 70 car trains going down Santa Ana street pulled by one SW1500. I wonder how long UP will keep this line open...so much of the traffic has dried up.
Okay , maybe its because Im living on the East coast. THAT VIDEO WAS AWESOME. We It looks like they use alot of power just to shuffle a few cars but im not complaining at all. CSX strictly uses gp s for local run and those 70s for long distance. 2. street running? Never seen it . I wish I had a house on that street. I'd never leave my front porch. 3. remote control cabs. Never see it over here unless your tresspassing. 4. the horn... what more can i say? LOVE IT.
Look out at 11:42, Anaheim Police Station. Too close video or photographing, you WILL be harassed by Anaheim Police. I was harassed insanely for about half -hour. I have no criminal record hardly even a traffic ticket, 1 in 30 years driving. I was surrounded questioned incessantly and made fun of, just for video the train going down the street. My view of police completely changed, and did a 180 that day. Prior to that I had highest respect for law enforcement, it was a life changing experience.
Nice video. I understand Genset locos were designed to reduce smoke emision to control air pollution and are only in service in Los Angeles area as this is the case here illustrated.
Awsome video and I live close to Anaheim. I don't know when these Genset engines came into existance, they're brand new to me but first seeing them last year in the Gardena area and quite interesting they apear to be swithchers..
A Union Pacific train on the street in Anaheim? That was weird. Are you kidding me?
Why not? UP bought SP.
Great catches with the UP 8321!
Thanks! I will try to catch the costa mesa if I'm ever around Anaheim.
