    Good job Marcus, I learnt a few things there. Never easy working on your drive either especially in the wet.

    I use cardboard to lay down on when working under a car, a proper rubber mat is better, but like to make use of packing materials, makes it more comfortable being separated from cold concrete, been & done it, got the t-shirt, now I like my comfort! Enjoying your vids, always nice to watch someone else work! Thanks for sharing your work!

    Freezing cold, tired, kneeling on stones, grit in your eyes, numb fingers, wrong tool, short memory, short temper, hungry, icy wind making you desperate for a piss, sun reflecting in your eyes, crawling around on your back, knees aching, shoulder burning, pulled muscles, skinned knuckles, bad breath, banging your head, clueless, pissed off...the joys of the driveway mechanic and/or having no lift/no tools/no idea but big dreams and small pockets. We've all been there, and will be there again. And again.

    You have put the gearbox mount/cradle on backwards (rotated 180°) that's why you had to drill more holes.

    • @marcushayesford
      @marcushayesford  5 лет назад

      South Africa Awakening it wouldn’t line up either way but there was more room for me to drill holes with it mounted back to front. The GS Escorts lowering blocks/relocating brackets aren’t the best way to mount a type 9. Much better to cut the original gbox mounts off and re-weld them in the right place on the tunnel and then use the normal RS2000 lowering blocks. However, the setup still works and that’s the main thing. :)

    Man its so cool that you can just hop in the car and go visit Burton Power. Although i cant complain too much as their freight to Australia is pretty quick.

    I don't know how you could work on the soaked ground in cold weather, that's determination mate .. I'd be inside waiting till everything dries out ! Great job tho, and cheers from Australia 👍 👍

      Thanks Marty! If I keep waiting for the weather i'll never get anything done! Even in the summer over here in England it'll sometimes be dry all week whilst Im at work and then rain at the weekend! :D

      Marcus get yourself a car creeper, just looked on Ebay and you can get one for 25 quid, it will save you pain later on.

    • @marcushayesford
      @marcushayesford  5 лет назад +1

      @@sdone7672thanks for the advice. Iv had a couple of cheap creepers in the past. I find that the wheels are shit and eventually wont roll so i end up getting pissed off that Im basically stuck under the car. Then eventually the wheels fall off! I still have the creepers but with no wheels and i do sometimes lay them under the car so that im not laying on the concrete. I think i need to invest in a decent creeper that will last but that money would have to come out of my parts fund! haha! :D

    Marcus I have to give u credit were it's due as for mot mowing what your doing. But there is an easier way & that's to remove all the gear box linkage & running gear after the cars jacked up. Jack the front of the engine & drope the gear box of. Less to take of & can be of & on in less than a full day on your own. But you got there in the end. Keep it up it's all part of learning 😁👍

    • @marcushayesford
      @marcushayesford  5 лет назад

      Thanks for the advice Roe. I have tried many different ways in the past and it just seems easier to drop the engine right out of the car. With the zetec setup I have now there defo isnt enough room to tilt the engine back far enough to get the gbox off because the water rail is too close to the bulkhead. I have done it with crossflows/pintos in the past by lowering the crossmember just slightly and i got the gbox off quite easily but getting it back on was a pain. Anyway now that i have the quick release inserts I should be able to do it with the engine in situ. :)

    You should invest in a gazebo for when it rains that’s if they have them in England

    does that revcounter work with nodis that you run? want to have a revcounter in my fiesta

    • @marcushayesford
      @marcushayesford  5 лет назад +1

      It does work but its VERY inaccurate! Its the same aftermarket rev counter i used when I had a crossflow (single coil) Im not sure if i need a different one thats more suited to a wasted spark system OR if i need the diode kit that Motorsport Electronics sell OR if the rev counter is just shit and i need a better one. It was the cheapest one I could find on ebay at the time.
