Oh what bloody glorious bells! Listen to that tenor roar!

They're a joy to listen and watch from that viewing box above the bellfry, I often take a wonder up there if I'm not needed to ring. You can almost feel the tenor strike through the floor, its brilliant!

Sad that Gillets stopped making bells, also such a tragedy that the pre war Gillet peal at St Mary le Bow we're destroyed in the war.
They surely would be the finest Simpson tuned peal in London

Yes, they certainly have a magnificent sound. I've had multiple people comment on the rich sound of these bells when I mention Coventry.

@@petregh9847 They really are gems,. There are some really beautiful Gillet peals around plus they made some monster bourdons for the US.
One of my favourite peals is the 8 at St James Clerkenwell

    why the white paint?

I believe (although I may be wrong) that it is not actually paint, but where the clapper of the bell has repeatedly hit against the mouth of the bell, causing it to be worn away some what! During bell maintenance the bells are sometimes rotated slightly so the clapper does not hit the same spot each time to prevent damage, which is why there is marks away from where the clapper hits.
