I really appreciate how in DanDaDan all the backstory are show don’t tell. A lot of scenes in the manga go on without a single monologue. So that means characters won’t explain their whole life story but instead will show it with the art. It’s very refreshing to see.
For someone who doesn't know what's going on: The mother was in debt, and the anime subtly hints that she worked part-time jobs and even resorted to prostitution to repay it. She used the money that was supposed to be paid to the Yakuza(japan's mafia) to buy clothes for her daughter instead. So, the Yakuza came and took her child away. Yes, the Yakuza is indeed involved in human trafficking and forcing women into prostitution. They might have taken the child to sell organs or force her into prostitution. In such cases, it's almost impossible to get the child back in Japan, and the mother knew she would never see her daughter again. That's why she ended her life in such despair. It's really SAD!😭😭😭
Yeah, the frame where she dances and falls off is actually a hint to what she did, she didn't die on the road, the jumped from her balcony to end her life and her ghosts "wakes" up there. It's a tragic story.
