My name is Leslie Ann Farrar. Geraldine was my grandfather's cousin. My grandmother was in contact with Geraldine for years before her (Geraldine's) death. @@truesoundchris The truly great sopranos--the ones I love the best-- have strong low notes; they're not afraid to mix in a little chest voice. I'm thinking of Lotte Lehmann and Muzio in particular.
Lehmann's Vissi d'arte in German is wonderful--much better than the one in Italian. She was Puccini's favorite Suor Angelica, which she sang only in German.

This performance is a half tone sharp. Either there was a technical problem or Ms. Farrar recorded the aria in E Major rather than E-flat major.
Clearly being played too fast. There's no way any soprano would transpose this up. If anything, down.
