My name is Leslie Ann Farrar. Geraldine was my grandfather's cousin. My grandmother was in contact with Geraldine for years before her (Geraldine's) death. I am so happy that these recordings are finally available to listen to. Geraldine's voice was amazing. In the recording of she and Cariso together, Geraldine "out-sings" Caruso.

@@lafarrar8000 Dear Ms. Farrar. Thank you for sharing your family’s history. I gotten to know Geraldine Farrar’s career through studying operas. I found that she and Antonio Scotti and Enrico Caruso once met the historian Henry Adams and a gathering in New York City.

@@rwhist528 I was fascinated by Geraldine Farrar when I was a kid. My grandmother used to tell me about her and what a beautiful woman she was. I always felt proud that I had a MAJOR opera star in my family! Amazing, isn't it, how some things can really affect our lives? Thanks for your kind comments

This performance is a half tone sharp. Either there was a technical problem or Ms. Farrar recorded the aria in E Major rather than E-flat major.

Clearly being played too fast. There's no way any soprano would transpose this up. If anything, down.

@@truesoundchris The truly great sopranos--the ones I love the best-- have strong low notes; they're not afraid to mix in a little chest voice. I'm thinking of Lotte Lehmann and Muzio in particular.

Lehmann's Vissi d'arte in German is wonderful--much better than the one in Italian. She was Puccini's favorite Suor Angelica, which she sang only in German.
