How can one wonder why did they win? This is an outstanding routine, with such an artistry and technique like never seen before. They simply fly on the ice and transmit feelings through each single move. No other couple succeded that. FS means much more than jumping and spinning. That's why they are champions in 2008 and just became again for 2009.
i could watch this for ever...perfect music...perfect program...a couple of flaws...but a fan loves their favourite even if they fall...they are following the music all the way through...
Extraordinary innovation. They are like the Matt Savoie of pairs skating - always breathtaking transitions and variations in their elements. Rooting them for the Olympic Gold!!!!
Quite a good program, i love how when they do they're lifts she grabs her blade. My coach and one of his past partners can do that in practice, but when they did the performance, she couldn't grab her blade. I love Jessica Dube and Bryce Davison's performance. I wish they could've won, but after watching this performance it's clear why they didn't win. This teams lifts, transitions, and spiral sequences proved to be better, even though both of them fell on the triple Salchows.
god they were good...there were bad parts all right...but when you take the program all around you forget about them...this is the thing about them...if you do not hear the music you can easily imagine how it may sound from their moves...they are worthy of their medals...i can`t wait to see the gala tomorrow...oh...and great song too!!:)
I agree with you. Side by side, I don't think many people would think that the Zhangs are superior to this team. But that miss on the triple sals was really costly and even the commentators were sure that the gold would go to Z & Z. It's still debatable, because the Germans have the better program, without a doubt. But they didn't perform it as solidly as they could. It was the right decision, though. The Zhangs are too dull in the long program to warrant World gold.
they would be happier if they skated clean. but I'm happy for them. I'm their fan since 2005 and the last night was exciting. when they waited for their points, I thought they win just the bronze or silver. but the result surprised me too.
They won because their artistry is superior to everyone else in the competition. They have better transitions and on the strength of the elements other than jumps.
@Zuranthium Even though this team isn't my favorite, Jessica and Bryce are, but they weren't falling all over the place. They just fell on their triple Salchows. Just because you fall in the program doesn't mean it's the end of the competition. Every skater is going to fall once in a while. But i do agree with you that they could've been better artistically.
@AliciaDupres i agree with you. maybe they did mistakes, but they did more difficult elements and the chinese did also a mistake, of course in comparison a small one, and the levels werent that high like alionas and robins.
@Zuranthium Oh, your right, he did stumble terribly out of the toe loop. I didn't even realize that because he was so far to the side of the camera. Usually one fall is forgivable, but with the poor program and 3 falls(both on the salchow and 1 on the toe loop) i don't think they should've gotten the gold either.
i have been unable to watch the worlds for several years now, so i always have to play catchup. watching this now, i can't believe this program won in march. i watched second and third place, both the short and long programs. the judges must have checked out mentally, because this program is not better than the silver and bronze.
not suck a big gift...think about it...you fall once but the rest of the program is so good the fall doesn`t matter...and it`s not only about them...look at mao asada...she goes for the triple axel and she doesn`t even get to try it...she falls...but afterwards...great program and she wins...in both cases they diserved it...
@strawberrykiwi20a It wasn't just a fall on the Salchow, it was a fall plus a large space of time spent getting up that seriously disrupted the program. That was not their only big mistake either. Didn't you see how he completely stumbled out of the toeloop? Those mistakes combined with a poor program = they were nowhere near deserving Gold.
@kazzicup Not when they are falling all over the ice. I'm not a big fan of their programs this year either. For me it was their weakest year artistically in the 2007-2010 Quad and if you examine their other programs you'd likely agree. Dube/Davison were far and away the best at this Worlds.
have you ever watched the most legendary pairs skaters of all time, goordeva and grinkov? no one compares even to this day. they were so talented, but what was so amazing about them is that they were literally "as one" on the ice. every time they skated it was like watching a love story. there's plenty of their stuff on youtube - check it out if you want to see the REALLY good stuff
What a shame on the judges!!! How they could have won with this? They didn't think they could win, the commentator didn't think they could win. ONLY the judges!
but they only made mistakes in their jumps. in pair skating there are a lot more elements. their thrown flip also was realy good. for me their scores are ok
Sorry, but this is Savchenko/Szolkowy's dullest LP and the mistakes sure didn't help the presentation. The Canadians were the ONLY pair who had great artistry in the LP. SP - 1. Zhang/Zhang, 2. Kawaguchi/Smirnov, 3. Savchenko/Szolkowy, 4. Dube/Davison, 5. Pang/Tong LP - 1. Dube/Davison, 2. Zhang/Zhang, 3. Pang/Tong, 4. Savchenko/Szolkowy, 5. Kawaguchi/Smirnov OVERALL - 1. DUBE/DAVISON, 2. Zhang/Zhang, 3. Savchenko/Szolkowy, 4. Kawaguchi/Smirnov, 5. Pang/Tong
Unfortunately, when a competition is at such a poor level where almost everyone makes a few mistakes, even the winners look like any other time they would have ended up 5th if the competition was more fierce. I would just not give anyone the gold. No one deserves it.

Love this team and overall performance! Congrats!

Lucky. They could hardly believe it themselves. I'm happy for them ❤️
they are so nice. we can be proud to have such a good team

@Zuranthium
Savchenko and Szolkowy deserve the gold. They are awesome.

at german nationals 2008 they did 2 clean performances and got 214 points!
@AliciaDupres i agree with you. maybe they did mistakes, but they did more difficult elements and the chinese did also a mistake, of course in comparison a small one, and the levels werent that high like alionas and robins.
@Zuranthium Err, I meant 4th overall for Pang/Tong.

Shen and Zhao is irreplaceable, the most emotionally connected pair ever.

My gosh...I'm surprised they won. They're artistically above average, but technically I think the runner up for Worlds were better.
wer sind besser?wollen wir kurz warten und mal sehen.

Watchng this in 2017, Zhangs totally deserved to win this event. Robbed obviously
What a shame on the judges!!! How they could have won with this? They didn't think they could win, the commentator didn't think they could win. ONLY the judges!
Boy were you wrong

I love her but I found the music so incredibly redundant and boring.
hahahaha.what a joke.
die beiden sind gut,aber leider nicht gut genug!mal schauen.
