one of the reasons you might not have got the right effect is that you may have over heated the ball. When you overheat anything, it can produce an effect called the leidenfrost effect causing almost no friction with the desired material, although, i could be completely wrong and it could have just been something else
Wouldn't the leidenfrost have the opposite effect tho with the layer of gas acting as a barrier between the hot ball and the substances?
