I personally found canvas is a great idea, however; It hasn't got a clue when it comes to coding! So I found the only one benefiting from this is the model learning code from your input. Let me explain I gave canvas a working code for a very small uncomplicated project, however; after canvas trying to fix an issue or add a function it got it all wrong! I also tested it's math and found it was far from reliable, even after giving correct results the AI could not get the calculation correct!
I assume, the problem is, that OpenAI but also other GPTs are trained with a bunch of average code, so they produce the same type of results. You have to give it clear correctsions and instructions, to improve the output and/or correct errors. Also, bring a lot of patience in the case of a longer project.

Why would I not just write the code my self/ Then when it comes to a simple Pythagorean formula the answer should be correct! I mean after all this is 2024 and the formula has been around for centuries.

Could be! I have heard of this happening. I can't directly recommend it, but some Europeans use VPNs to get around it. Not sure if it's legal in your country or on ChatGPT though to be honest. 🤷♂️

is this on a downlaoded software version of chatGTP? do you need premium? Are you using hte web-based or software based verison? On the web version I cant find the interactive elements (shorter/longer, reading level, highlight to ask about a specific section, etc) but on the macOS verision, I cant even see the "with canvas" model. It is also not interactive for me, i cant edit the text in the reply area. Thanks so much!
Hello everyone, i tried to play with canvas, uploaded my code file, approximately 1000 lines of code, and canvas didn't expand it all, it was 10 times shorter, so, i guess it's okay to work with short parts, like functions or something like that.
This is only for single file coding, usually a program consist of hundreds of files and the are interelated, so can't use this canvas feature. Even my simple personal program also at least involves 5 files.

Sure it does, just ask it to give you the commands you need for the terminal or the bash tool.
Ask for that specific framework in your prompt.

Same thing happened to me. And it also changed my code drastically in some areas. Rather frustrating
It didn't work at first using your prompt, had to write "Open in Canvas" and it did....
thats so weird. it didnt work for me either. it just looked like any other normal chat until I also specifically said "Open in Canvas"
