@Gustave How about you move out of MY country then!!! You whinny pathetic civilians disgust me with your racisms and hate. Just admit it, you were never strong enough to serve.
My friend, Hank Cramer is currently getting ready to release his book on the first Green Berets in Vietnam. His father was Harry Cramer, first soldier- and first Green Beret to be killed in Vietnam. Hank followed in his father's footsteps- becoming a full bird Colonel in the Green Berets- and is highly decorated. Perhaps you would want to reach out to him for an interview?
It happens I didn’t have anyone on family day, some families can’t afford to fly or really don’t have a family but I’ve seen other families tap a person out that’s not their child so they don’t stand all alone.
Reminds me of my father and I. He served 4 tours in Iraq when i was a teenager. I went into the army right out of high-school, and my father was able to come back from deployment for my basic training graduation. As a full bird Colonel he walked up to our formation, (every one was looking nervous seeing him, including the drill sergents) and gave me a hug. Few times I've seen my father cry.
In total agreement with both statements. Proud of both of you and you do look like you are in your 20s. But most importantly, thanks for your honor, commitment, and service to family, country, uniform, and flag.
I've actually seen it happen as well. A guy in my unit was just informed of his mother's death. We were already past basic and were in advanced training for paratroopers learning jumps for a month so it was a bit more relaxed. So this guy gets told by a female luitenant colonel of his mother's passing. I saw him break and kind of like shrink a few cm it was a weird sight but this high ranking officer goes into a hug and they go down to the ground together and she's just sitting there hugging a recruit. Honestly I never expected to see something so heartbreaking but also heartwarming at the same time. I was only allowed to be there because he was both my best friend and also battle buddy. He actually got some time off to compose himself. Now 2 years later he is great friends with that officer.
The day I finished boot camp my 40 yr retired dad in his uniform with all the hash marks was aloud to march out and salute me was the best day of my life. Thank you both for yours. Keep you six down come home to a greatful country.
After reading the title, my impression was: "Maybe something like the Queen's Guard that did salute for the lil' toddler in his toddler-sized Queen's Guard uniform. Anything from "awe" to "wow" - I'll be fine. How little I knew... them saluting for each other with that background, consisting of 120% of Happy End.
I had this same experience with my stepfather who raised me since I was 5. He was a full bird captain in the navy at the time I graduated from bootcamp. I will never forget it!! When I was a kid I asked him how funny it would be if I ever had to salute him. I asked him if he remembered that. He did. Good job guys!!
What can we as civilians say? You make all of us so awe inspired and grateful. American pride radiating upon you and your family from our humbled selves.
My husband was a veteran & I’m still proud of him today even though he’s no longer with us as my brother retired from the navy. Miss them both. Still blubbering over this video. Proud mother & son💕💗🥰❤️💜

Congratulations Captain! I’m envious, but happy you are able to live that passion for military service. I received a medical separation after being diagnosed with T1DM some 37 years ago. I have never been able to find the passion I felt in the Marine Corps, in anything else I’ve done. Live it proud.
