I find it very funny that Decked Out already has a doping scandal on its hands.
A potential future decked out 3 should definitely be balanced around full saturation, maybe it could still be tweaked now by reducing the amount of berry bushes on level 1

Suspicious stew really went from being an obscure feature to the highlight of Decked Out Phase II.
I mean, it's technically optimizing that process of pricking yourself and eating a g.carrot during the start.
If anything, it's similar to having a diet plan and being well rested before a competition. Doping is a performance enhancer, and honey just fills saturation not grant any unfair boosters.
It's also a valid option to go for run with a low hunger.
That being said, I would love to see a DO2 weekly challenges in the future for added crown rewards, like completing a run with low hunger, slowness, no berry run, max clank/hazard start, etc.
Not exactly, _but_ there definetly is a difference if players take it and maybe win, while others that didn't take it lose - which might be incidentally, but you could never really tell - at least people would speculate.
Edit: So either it should be a rule that all players *have to* eat it, or it should be banned imo.
Tango already said on stream as of phase 3 it’s banned. It’s taking advantage of the saturation system in Minecraft, the game wasn’t designed for people to abuse said system. Hence the sweet berries
Its just like Lance Armstrong blood doping. Sure its not technically peds but theres still an advantage to be able to go longer without fatiguing. #scandal
@@User-ki8ew, I don't see how it would be abusing, that's like people hurting themselves and eating a golden carrot high before entering, it could also be called abusing the system in comparison to when people weren't doing it.
I love every hermits moment of either yelping or immediate silence when they see a ravager, Xs silence and then the oh dear was great 🤣
Could they not get around the doping scandal by just killing the player before each run? Enter the door, set your spawn, and get killed somehow before you're allowed to enter the dungeon. That would reset saturation, and a hopper could pick up any items they forgot to take off.
Or they could just ask people to not do it.
@Yesat-Erday but then the hermits would naturally have varying hunger levels, whereas respawning makes sure that it's consistent.
@@LRM12o8 It is a group of adult content creator and friends, so while they are competitive, they are not doing it in a simple way of "don't over complicate".
Same reason Tango did not put a filter on the artifact pickup points, to keep it simpler.

I love the Hermits. Like any group of competitive, creative, intelligent players, they always find the loopholes and exploits that aren't illegal until they're discovered. And I know they're all mature enough (outside of their game personas) to accept Tango changing the rules in response as necessary. But darned if it's not funny to see a saturation scandal.

Chorus fruit also works to max saturation in a much more annoying fashion. Especially in a giant castle full of tunnels and caverns underneath.
Realistically the only way for Tango to guarantee that everyone starts runs on equal footing is to make the players have to respawn. It also solves the "I forgot and left my gear on" problem.

Also you should donate a copy of your DO journal to the museum eventually for the DO exhibit.
Makes sense. Duping is for his own building and that's it. Decked Out is a competition so giving yourself an advantage is just unfair.

We'll see what Tango does. It doesn't seem like it'll be an issue for level 2 or 3 runs.

I think there’s a benefit to everyone having a consistent starting saturation
If Tango didn't want players to have saturation at the start of a run, he could have included a kill chamber at the start. Even players not trying to max out saturation might have some at the start incidentally.
He might just add it for phase 3, it makes so much sense to start everyone with the same stats.
I'm sure he can figure something out for the spawn point, sharing the same bed as the exit, with a bit of remodeling. That may also help with people forgetting to set their spawn (and bringing items in), if they can't start the run without it! 😅
I'd just give everyone some free PORKCHOP POWER!!™ and ask them to politely step into the berry bush until hungry.

The only way to stop the pre-saturation thing would be to make each hermit drink poison and then eat a specified item to top them to wherever Tango wants them to start at. It'll be interesting to see if he implements something like that. Good video, X!

Tango should put a death chamber at the beginning. Collect everyone's items and armor automatically, and everyone starts off with the same saturation.
Tango mentioned in livestream yesterday that he will no longer be allowing the pre-saturation as of phase 3. It was not his intended way to play the game
I think he should just endorse it and remove berry bushes on level 1 instead. It will make it harder for Etho/Hypno to camp level 1 long term to farm. They just won't get enough food to sustain staying on level 1.
It would make more sense to make max saturation part of the game. Otherwise, people will be going into the dungeon at different saturation levels. What are players who have low hunger supposed to do if they want to do a run?
@@thatoneguy4452yeah, to me it makes sense to start everyone off at the same place. The only reliable way is to either allow going in at full saturation, or like full the player to max, then damage them and make them eat 1 food item. Just something to make it consistant

There is an easy solution, Tango just needs to off players before they begin the game. Like sleep in bed, first time you open the door is instant death, and the second time opens like normal.
Or click the bed, but have it so that only by respawning can you get up to the area to enter. Then if you die in dungeon, you just pop back down. You have a set saturation, and can't take anything in.
Pop the kill zone on top of a hopper for forgotten armour and such.

I feel the big problem tango has with it is that its very min maxy and that the items are being sold for diamonds for a game he designed to be free. If they were free or sold for crowns he might be a little more accepting of it.

Grian and Scar were preparing a bunch of mooshrooms to get the saturation suspicious stew for themselves to have an advantage at Decked Out, and as soon as they got them, your shop appeared.
They changed the sign and complained to Tango and Tango's answer was something like "You know what they say, location, location, location!", so I don't think you have to worry about Tango.

By the by Suspicious stew could provide more than 16 saturation, because saturation is capped at the visible hunger bar.
The funniest thing is that a freshly re-spawned player might have the greatest saturation at 0 effort, starting with a full 20 on the saturation meter. all this discussion about performance enhancing stew, when the proper way is to loose your head for some luck.
Edit some websites and peeps say quater saturation on respawn,✌ i have no ways of checking for myself at the moment. 😔 I think 20 might have been on a fresh world.

If one stew is too little and two stews is too much, you could sell a stew + honey bundle. 1 stew + 4-5 bottles, so that you end up at 20 saturation.
Edit: Bundles apparently don't work like that in terms of space for non-stackable items :c
It still wouldn't fit in a bundle, cos the way bundles work they only hold up to a stack of items, so either 64, 16, or 1 non-stackable item (or combinations like 8 ender pearls and 32 stone). Stews and soups don't stack so you couldn't put one sus stew and 4 honey bottles in a bundle.

Saturation won't matter much if the player keeps trying to cuddle with Sir Fluffington of the Dungeon. ;)
A single Golden Carrot is *over* 14 Saturation already, so that's quite a bit of help no matter what gets banned from DO2.
And if honey bottles (or sus satch stew) remain legal, they are best used right after your "last" carrot in the respawn bush room.
Guzzling 3-5 bottles is not nearly as bad as 17.
Dandelions would be pretty easy to farm, if you don't want to farm mushrooms, you could always get a Mooshroom and turn it brown. If you feed it the Dandelions and "milk" it with a bowl it will automatically give you the saturation stew.

Everyone saying berries would be useless but the whole point is to have them for later floors or stray ravager hits. A single hit will already use up all that saturation basically.

Death chamber is the answer, ensures no one goes in with armor and solves that saturation controversy.
I think the best way to get your saturation maxed out is to prick yourself until you can eat a golden carrot and then top it up with 1 stew or 5 honey bottles.

OH the start of this video was in an area in the same season but having watched hermitcraft so long my brain just assumed that was last season because so much time has passed...
I love the montage! I'm enjoying everyone's DO runs, but watching hours from each hermit isn't sustainable. Thanks for making yours a highlight reel! =D
I guess a good question to ask is:
What would the point of the berries in level 1 be if hermits are maxing out their saturation beforehand?
Yeah its not against the rules, but its not exactly in the spirit of the game I'd say.
And from what I've seen, Tango seems slightly agitated by this as the game wasnt really built for that sort of thing.
The point of berries in level 1 are for you to collect while waiting for a key so you can have oodles of berries into the less-berry-full level 2 & 3 =P

Im doing a community service improving the quality of the runs for everyone...absolutely agree. Sus stew and honey are completely vanilla in game foods I think its totally fine to use...selling it INSIDE Decked Out maybe a little cheeky 😉 lol
How about stew + 1 bottled honey. Like you know you can't have a full meal without a drink on the side😂

I - Inventory! (Empty it out)
L - Level! Check and set your runs difficulty level)
D - Deck! (Review and screenshot your deck before giving it to the dungeon)
Place some empty bottles in invisible item frames all over the floor outside entrance to DECKED OUT like litter

You could just steal a brown mooshroom cow that grian and scar have hidden in the decked out castle and use that to help stock up on suspicious stews
It's all fun and games till Tango, I mean the dungeon spirit starts saying "Min-maxer" whenever the saturation station is opened. Also Grian and Scar hid some brown mooshrooms for infinite soup.
I'm kinda surprised nobody has just farmed a whole bunch of each mushroom and orchids, to craft Saturation Stew. Seems easier than drinking a dozen bottles of honey or hauling & hiding exotic animals.

About the saturation situation, another hermit found a better way to farm it extremely easily, I think I'll change my Minecraft diet as soon as I get back to gaming. I won't tell you who or how they did it, but I can tell you this: that pancake doesn't need honey

The argument of killing the players seems logical at first, but the issue of varying saturation levels is already dealt with by the berry bush prick + golden carrot. Once your hunger bar is going down, it means your saturation is at 0. The only variance is if players eat different food to top off before going in. The change from Tango has simply banned certain foods, capping the saturation you can enter with.
I can provide the minecraft commands I used to verify this if anyone is interested. All relevant hunger data can be obtained via /data get.

People dug too deep in the Honey Bottle nerf. It's not just about equal footing - it's about FUN: Tango doesn't want people to Min Max his game before even entering the dungeon, he wants players to just, yknow, play and have fun. Hermits make min maxing fun, but it's still min-maxing.
Honestly, one suspicious stew is probably enough. It give 16 saturation out of a total of 20. Yeah, you can min-max it but I think it's all good. Same for a bundle of 16 honey. Isn't that 19.2 out of a max of 20? Close enough I think.
Is there anything stopping you from eating one sus stew and 4 honey bottles? If I've done my maths right that should have the same effect as 2 sus stew or 17 honeybottles? Gives you a use for all those honey bottles and saves wasting a big portion of a sus stew?

it might be legal according to current rules, but it totally breaks down the design of the game, that is meant to limit the amount of time and resources that one has in the dungeon. definitely feels like cheating to me, and tango should probably set up a killing chamber before the start of the run. [edit] plus i’d like to add that it destroys the purpose of having to look for berry bushes, which are the intended way of healing and keeping up hunger bars.

Unless Tango makes a pre-game rule for using that mod to show your current saturation and have a specific level as acceptable, I don’t know how he would enforce an anti- saturation food pre-game rule.
He shouldn’t need additional pre-game rules that he needs to enforce. He should be able to trust the hermits to play the game in the spirit of its design, like he does with the fact that any compass can be dropped in any artifact hopper.
Kill the player before entering. Literally everyone would be on the EXACT SAME LEVEL of hp and saturation, as the game was INTENDED to be played... honestly I think this whole situation came about simply because Tango added that berry bush inside the front door, that gave people the idea that they could push saturation further than the game is designed for.
Seriously have you seen runs with people at full sat? They can easily take 2 or 3 ravager hits and heal up to full without needing a single berry bush inside the dungeon, that is NOT how it was intended to be.
