I think it was 1970-71, he was wearing a suit that looked exactly the same as the one in this video, he got off at Colchester. around the same time I saw Rory Gallagher, another one of my heroes, and my all time favourite guitarist
The jam never suffers for lack of bottom somehow, even when Jack buzzes around creatively up a little high on the neck. His melodic lines keep you busy & are the equal of the guitar as far as meriting attention without being a distraction from the soloing. What a talent! I'll forever remember him almost 60 years ago singing "Politician" with Ginger & Clapton and holding 10,000 of us hippies under his spell at The Baltimore Civic Center! Jack Bruce! Thanks, Jack!! And, Thanks for your time, here, Everybody!

I saw Rory Gallagher at 3 different gigs in Auckland (Different times), H Sang, He played Acoustic, then electric, then Slide, He was a Fucjing amazing guitar player. What a huge Talent this guy had.
So used to hearing people who can't sing, it comes like a breath of air to hear Jack Bruce - immediately takes me back to the Cream days. Hadn't seen a lot of late Rory stuff - total legend, both of them, both played at Cream's farewell concert!

@@mvela1235 Interesting comparison. As I see it they were very different players. SRV took Jimi’s licks and attitude to stratospheric levels nobody else will ever reach. But Rory had an almost scholarly level of grounding in the old folk blues, and he could make the instrument sing like a human being. But let’s face it. Once players reach a certain level comparisons get to be a matter of taste. Every great player has his strong points - and his limitations that other players cover. This is true on every instrument in every genre.

If Eric Clapton had been there, or Gary Moore there still wouldn't have been any "competition" simply because all these great musicians liked and admired each other... I mean, you can see the look on Rory Gallagher's face playing rhythm guitar while Jack Bruce is singing... He's genuinely happy to be there...

Two iconic musicians. Sadly never got to see Jack Play live but was blessed to see Rory twice at the Savoy in Limerick. Phenomenal live shows. Been 50 years but hearing this it seems almost like yesterday.
Was priviledged to see Jack in a small venue in San Francisco in the mid 80s, and produced Rory and Taste while VP of the Cal Poly Concert Committee in the early 70s. One of a kind artists, RIP....

Yeah, me too. Blind Faith, for all the talent in that band, was nothing special. I never understood the choice of Rick Grech (sp?) for the bass position. I guess they only had room for so much ego in the band and needed someone mediocre to add balance. lol. I saw Delaney and Bonnie with their new guitarist playing mostly rhythm. George somebody, I think he used to play with some famous British band or other.

Rory has stood the test of time, still one of the all time greats.
Jack Bruce is a beast. Monster bassist and one of the best voices in rock.
Jack revolutionized the bass unbelievable player! Any doubt on his effect on guitar players listen to Clapton with and without Jack! No comparison!
Jack was the best part of Cream, IMO. That direct strong voice and driving bass. Just drew you in and touched your soul!
