When I think of Rockwell Kent the associative row of the words like "wide, broad, universal, empowering, majestic" come to mind. His art and the look on everything around him is truly integrating. He thinks big. There are no unimportant items on his paintings and everything that is there is highly symbolic and full of the meaning of LIFE itself. When I look at his pictures I see the world from a higher perspective. Maybe that's how the Absolute looks at us.
For me, I am seeing the blend of passion and power with simplicity. In my work I lack all of this. If you ever wanted an example of the value of shading and shadows Kent is a master. Highly likely he was perfectly sane, something I also lack (:

Never heard of this artist until 1990s when a friend of mine immigrated from Russia and started asking me about him.
