  • In this video I will show you how to remove and replace your Audi A4 B6 Headlights and bulbs and upgrade mine to Osram and Phillips.
This was done on my 2003 Audi A4 B6 2.5 TDI - the layout might differ slightly for cars from other markets or different engine configurations but the bolt locations will be the same - just the things around them will change if anything.
Also if you caught on to different teeshirts and hoodies, it's because I shot this video in different parts when dealing with different things.

One of the headlight top bolts is broken (just turning without coming out). Any suggestions how to get it out?

I have 2002 A4 1.8 Turbo. Headlight replacement looks almost similar and they have 4 screws (2 Top + 2 with a plate which holds the headlight)
I want to replace the HID with Halogen. I've opened headlight once and looked into it, but I'm not sure what needs to be replaced. Repair shops are charging almost $75-$80 just for opening the headlight and installation and don't want to go with those.
    Any instructions would be appreciated.

Which bulb? Isn't it illegal to change the bulb colors to blue or red if they are white or amber previously?
I would replace with the same model bulb # written in micro fine print on each bulb base.
      7525, 7527, 7528, T89, (examples)
there is numerous bulbs to write down model # and location from.
I do know it's not illegal to replace white or amber bulb with same color LED bulb.
But they are about 10 dollars per bulb for LED.. You may get what you want when you say cool blue by just swapping the clear bulbs for white LED that have same model # code per bulb.
      Good luck.

The Phillips ones are PH2. PH3 is huge, and rarely used.

How do you know if you have xenon? Unless you open it? I have high voltage sticker on the back of the headlight.

+Audi Awd xenon/HID bulbs are a different shape and have ballasts.
If you can get 1 out without getting the headlights out it'll quickly show.

Sorry, but this is overly simplified. It's good of you to share a video showing people how to cut-out Halfords, but you could dazzle people (Especially with new , brighter replacments! ) and/or fail your MOT if you throw-off your headlight alignment when doing this job - which is very easily done when changing bulbs on these A4's. You're responsible by law to have this correct. You have to check and set-up your alignment, if necessary, after you've removed and replaced your lamps. The mass majority of MOT centres will make-a-meal-out-of-this and act like it's the end of the world and make-out that it's a huge job to fix. Don't let the f@£kers get away with that! It's a simple job to align your headlights if they haven't been wrecked by a previous bodger, and you have a good place to do the job. A flat, level, 25+ feet/8ish metres long road with a vertical wall is what you need to find. It also helps a lot to be dark, and have a tape measure, some tape and the tools needed to looses and tighten your headlights and adjusters. If you have self levelers (most of these do) the motors need to be working, too. If you have noise like a trapped budgie in there then that's the leveling motor failing! Search for headlight alignment on RUclips and you'll find loads of how-to's about this subject. Safe driving, everyone!

      Great advice, lol.
What I do is take my ice pick tool and trace-scratch a line around where the hardware comes together, to create an outline so when I reinstall, I slide it to the exact same spot as the previous guy and then I can sleep at night. : )

I have changed once the light bulbs on A4 B6. The weird fact was that the side light bulb was not t10. It was like t11, but a bit different.
