Hahahah i laughed so hard when you just put that untoasted bread in your mouth ;D Just put them in the oven at 200 degrees for 10 minutes or so, and they will taste much better!
Yeah...I've watched that with my sister and we were screaming infront of the screen to prevent you from eating that untoasted. It must be awful when it's not fresh from the oven. You have to test that the right way ;)
Dearest Emmy, after watching your videos for what feels like forever, or at least 3 years now, I realized I never ever left a single one comment to let you know how you always manage to brighten my days. I stop by on your channel every single day just to watch you getting all excited about food from all over the world, learning about new things and getting to know more flavors and just, aw.. I hope you're aware of the fact that your charisma is just amazing. You make people happy and I'm so grateful for your videos and your smiley face each time you introduce us all to stuff we didn't know existed before. You're amazing, thank you for being who you are and, well, that's all I really needed to say now.
Pop those Brötchen into the oven for a few minutes to make them warm and crispy - they smell great, when heated up. I've actually never eaten those 'half-raw' haha! Great video as always!
I do appreciate your videos about various countries or states food preferences. You describe the items so perfectly that we feel that we have had the experience with you
The mass which the little pig and mushroom are made of is called "Marzipan" huge cakes are decorated with this. And you often find it with christmas candy. I don't like it so much, but some people kinda die for it ;) Greetings from Heidelberg, GER
It is so fun watching your expressions, we know right away what you think of the item you are tasting. Thanks for the information and your wonderful opinion on all these items Emmy.
Emmy you probably already know this but you have to put the "Brötchen" in the oven for like 10 to 12 minutes (till they're golden brown. the time sign thingy on the left side on the package says how long they take) at 356°F/392°F. Every german person probably can't believe that you liked them like that :D they taste so aweful when they're unbaked. they have to be crispy and warm then they taste really delicious. :) now I want a Brötchen :D
Loved to see the "Niederegger" marzipan (the ladybugs) because it's from my hometown, Luebeck, it's in the north of germany and famous for it's marzipan
What a beautiful package! The lucky charms (esp. the imho kinda tacky chimney sweeper you didn't get) and the cute lady bugs are somewhat popular gifts. Apfelschorle, such a classic beverage! I think especially kids drink it a ton, at least in my childhood, really popular (I myself though am somehow just not a fan) A Polish coworker wanted to buy some juice& was so surprised (negatively ^^) about this watery, sparkly juice, so I warned about anything 'Schorle' ^^ We currently have Waldmeister sirup, you might find Waldmeister Brause or ice pop bags too sometimes.
ahhh I miss brötchen so much! crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. we have rolls here in the US too, obviously, but I find that nothing satisfies my brötchen nostalgia.
Schüttelbrot is very typical for South Tyrol, where my Grandpa's from. It's part of Italy now, but has a very different or rather mixed culture. It used to be part of Austria until WWI, almost everyone there speaks both German and Italian now. It's also my personal heaven on earth, so it's lovely to see a South Tyrolean treat here. :)
YAAAAAYYY...more snacks from my neighbors to the east. I love...no...I adore the food ( and also the people) over there and therefor visit Germany quite a lot. If there's one thing I can not get my hands off, it's their Sauerteigbrot (sourdough bread). Anyway : I think it's about time you enrolled your oldest into crane/dump truck school, so he can teach his little brother how awesome these construction trucks are and infect him with the same enthusiasm.... :-) Thanks a mill for this video, Emmy!
It's funny that you mentioned construction vehicles. My son was 'reading' a truck catalog to his brother today. It went something like this, "This is a shear tractor, here's an excavator, a backhoe, and skid steer with a loader attachment." lol :)
What a wonderful variety of treats! You do such a great job describing the textures, tastes, and smells of everything! I think coming to terms with raisins is an official sign of being a grown up! haha =}
I've been watching your videos since the very beginning and they never fail to make my day! Keep doing what you're doing and never stop, they always make my day :-) can't wait to send you a Maltese treats parcel!
The Gletscher Eis ("Glacier Ice") candies have a great effect if you inhale sharply through your mouth while eating one: it gives the impression of inhaling very cold air, hence the name. Since they contain menthol, they help unblock your sinuses when having a cold.
These treats remind me of the area of Germany I lived. And a lot of those things look they were bought at Globus. Globus is bit like a small super Walmart-- it's more grocery then anything else, but they do have some clothes and shoes and such. My favorite part is the 'food court' in the front. So much good food! And price start at 1 euro. Get brötchen with sausage or schnitzel(my fav.) in it. Or go for whole meals. And the apple spritzer type drink is very popular it's usually on tap at most eating places-- my son enjoyed it.
when she talked about the chimney sweep being good luck I instantly thought of a story my dad told me when he was in the army stationed in Germany where a friend of his gave him a gold chimney sweep to keep with him for good luck while he was in the army. 😊
I would day the quintessential bread of Germany is "Vollkornbrot", the dark full-grain bread that comes in many variations here. And of course Pumpernickel, a specialty from Westphalia, a double-baked moist black whole-grain bread with very firm consistency, baked in steam for 24 or 48 hours, with a yeasty sweet flavour. That's why you only eat Pumpernickel in very thin slices, with raw smoked ham or cream cheese, no butter.
I've wanted to go to Germany for a long time now, and most of it is for the treats! I MUST keep a look out for these if I every go to Germany! I enjoy your videos! I hope that you get to go to Germany someday too!
OMG Ingwer Blätter! I remember, because I couldn't find these in Greece, I would ask a friend from Germany (who visited every summer) to bring me some! I loved these, but it's been years since I've eaten one... :-(
I've looking for glacier ice..... lol wow. My grandma & I would but them all the time but haven't been able to find. She has passed & I started buying them even more but like said couldn't find after 2-3 months* When was sick with meningitis in 98 & pregnant is how I found mints help with dizziness & nausea* So yea thanks Mr. W for sending Emmy those & Thanks Emmy for sharing* I recognized them which why I clicked the video & btw love your videos*
Dear Emmy, I imagine someone may have already said this, but, with the greatest respect, yes, woodruff does exist in the USA. It's sort of rare/obscure & not very popular. I don't know if we have it in things much, especially in the middle or eastern territories. I have never seen it as an ingredient. I don't know if nurseries carry it in 2020, when I am writing. But, back in the 1970's, my mom got it from somewhere, & planted it & grew a huge patch in the backyard. She & my father used to put it in white wine. I can't remember them doing anything else with it.
Schoko-Linsen is my favorite candy. When my older sister was little, she would always ask for one more Schoko-Linsen by just saying "eins" the German word for "one." The name stuck and we still call this candy "Eins" to this day. You can't have just one!
I do enjoy your videos, but not half as much as you must, emmy. this is like the most wonderful job in the world... i wish people would send me treats like that :D
Love marzipan candies! They come in different textures depending on the grinding method and different sweetness' depending on the baker / company. They can be really nice if kept as pure as possible ie: not so strong an extract flavor. But glucose must be added for preservation. Just a little tidbit on candy making. :)
im in Georgia and we have these hard pretzels their hard like cashews .they are called buffalo wings pretzels they taste really good u can find them in any store if u are in the United States u should find them!
I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but you can easily mix apfelschorle yourself.. just 50% applejuice and 50% club soda and a dash of lemon juice ;)
1:46 We eat those "Brötchen" in Switzerland aswell and we call them "Brötli" =) IMHO the best way to eat them is to bake them in the oven until they're crunchy on the outside.
You are awesome emmy :) i really enjoy each and every video you post and i cant wait to see more and more and more :O lotsa love from germany btw...some you ate there ...i havent even tried yet lawl
Speaking of cat tongues: May I suggest German Katzenzungen (also translates to cat tongues). They are basically just little pure chocolate bars that are shaped like the french cat tongue cookies but the chocolate tastes really unique and I love them.
I Love your Test series of German Food and candy, btw in Germany in some Locations we eat " Brake Pads " Brake Pads Translatet in german as Bremsklötze and sometimes it is a Big Meatball, but carfull in some cases the Bakery win aginst the Butcher 2 : 1 ;) ( often said when too much bread is in the meatballs.! ;)
Hello Emmy. Real german Brötchen you should buy at the many bakeries. These are from the Supermarket. They only taste soso when you bake them. I never buy them because the taste is not really good. Greetings from Dresden and I love your channel. Now I walk through markets and always search for new thinks to try. You kind of inspired me. Thank you!
I remember the lady bugs from my childhood. I liked them so much. But I can't find them any more in the Netherlands. But good to know that I can buy them in Germany ^-^.

You're supposed to put the 'Brötchen' in the oven for like 10-15mins before you eat them. They are not fully baked yet. Wet them a lil on top so they get a nice crusty outside but will stay soft in the middle. They will taste 20times better then. ;P

This is so funny! I've never seen someone eat Brötchen without baking them before. :-D Actually they are really delicious. You should try it again. ;-)
You are supposed to bake the rolls in the oven first to make them a bit crispy (they remai soft on the inside), otherwise they're way too doughy and dull (at least for my taste). "Funny" story: my mum loves the Schoko Linsen but she onced cracked her tooth eating them. Super nice video!
Whoops! I forgot to toast the bread. :(
You have gotten so boring OMG
Elizabeth Raybould How rude can you get? No one cares what you think.
You have to test that the right way ;)
It's okay, Emmy! We still love you!

Madeline Juno It warms the cockels of my heart to hear that my little videos can bring you a bit of sunshine.
I agree!
It's refreshing to see someone leave such a wonderful comment :D Emmy has a lovely fan base
Maddy ♥ and Emmy ♥ Just omg!!! :D
Pop those Brötchen into the oven for a few minutes to make them warm and crispy - they smell great, when heated up. I've actually never eaten those 'half-raw' haha!
Great video as always!
Pretty sure nobody eats them half-raw.. xD This is why you need to inspect packaging before you eat lol
Eva Verheij I was trying not to generalize - who knows, there might be people around, who like eating dough! haha ;-D
The "Brötchen" HAVE to go in the oven first otherwise they taste...well...undone :D
Yes! I was like: "Don't, don't, no, put them in the oven for later... oh no, she is actually tasting them raw - 😐.
I screamed to the screen since she open it...no no no no no no...*she bite it.....me: nooooooooooooooooo.....😲😲😲😲😲😲
hint for the brötchen, make the top a litle wet and then put them into the oveen (200°c) until its gold like color wise.
You schould bake brotchen before eating:) they are not ready to eat:)
there are "Brötchen" which you can eat without bake before
I do appreciate your videos about various countries or states food preferences. You describe the items so perfectly that we feel that we have had the experience with you
I love how you give Germany another view.
Most people on the internet think we're Nazis and it can be very harsh.
So thank you for that, Emmy.

I must say your videos have been dubbed the food lady in our house. My kids LOVE watching you. They like learning about new foods.

Mouthwatering, yum!
I keep hearing that beeping in the background and thinking that my husband is home early from work, haha!
Speaking of cat tongues: May I suggest German Katzenzungen (also translates to cat tongues). They are basically just little pure chocolate bars that are shaped like the french cat tongue cookies but the chocolate tastes really unique and I love them.
I'm from Germany but the most of this food I've never seen before :S
I love how she says mmmmm and looks surprised everytime she tastes something XD

Das Studentenfutter "muss" man mit einem Schlag zusammen mit den Nüssen und Rosinen verputzen. Das ist ja der Reiz.

Emmy is so innocent and sweat and I would love to send her some treats from Ireland :)
Glad I ate while watching this, cause otherwise i always get so hungry :p
I used to hate raisins as a kid too. But now I love them and want some. Aha!

Germany has the best sweets ever!
love you !
Hey, your pronunciation of " Schokorosinen" was perfect! :D
apfel-schorle is usually drank (drunk?) with meals! Its served at restaurants like americans would serve normal cola or water! Or so my German instructor has told me. It's very good, i could live on that stuff
As a German, I can assure you, you can drink it anytime you want
Well yeah, of course! I was just sayin its served in restaurants as well.
Especially kids love it when they playing outside and then they drink it to freshen and cool themselves :D
vzwGrey .... hoert sich bei euch ja so an, als waere es was gutes :DDDD
I love your videos
i like how you say the german names , it sounds pretty close to how i would say them as a german, respect vor that :D
Hahaha i love this Videos its so funny how you try food which is so normal and every day food for me!:) but are u drinking the Apple juice with ice?! In germany you nearly never drink something with ice...:)
Great video...And they definitely still sell Reisenets
da Brötchen ist magisch
Pretty much all of these are foods we have in the Netherlands as well :)

I live in Washington and I have woodruff in my herb garden.
ha! Amanita, there's a Czech game company called Amanita Design and the mushroom is in their logos. I feel silly that I didn't realize the name was from the mushroom.
This made me want raisins...I don't even like them! Great video Emmy
Emmy you getting me so hungry
It is just so sweet, because we all know this things and you are so happy to try this. :D // Sorry for my english. haha
This is so funny! I've never seen someone eat Brötchen without baking them before. :-D Actually they are really delicious. You should try it again. ;-)
I love your videos the noise in the background you could just wear earplugs LOL 😜
I love your channel! I was wondering, have you tried Turkish delight or mochi? I would love to see that! Thanx :)
Woah, I opened a box of raisinets a few seconds before you started talking about them! I love them, but don't like plain raisins lol

hope you're alright Emmy, looked for your vid today and it's not there :(
You should do a video on what your toddler eats
My grandpas last name is woodruff! That's cool that there is something German called woodruff. Heh! Thanks for the wonderful (
You are supposed to bake the rolls in the oven first to make them a bit crispy (they remai soft on the inside), otherwise they're way too doughy and dull (at least for my taste). "Funny" story: my mum loves the Schoko Linsen but she onced cracked her tooth eating them. Super nice video!
