I'm really squeamish so I was horrified by your nightmare weekend! Thank goodness you're feeling better now, Paul's a gem for holding your hand through it all. 💙🏴💙 #SaveOurNHS
Thank goodness you’re ok Richard. Those doctors and nurses are brilliant. It’s wise not to travel, especially on plane as the pressure could start more bleeds. I do hope your appointment goes well . It’s lovey to have you and Paul back xx 💖
Finally got to watch this update, better late than never. NHS is worth its weight in gold, their oh so clever. Glad the treatment you received was of the highest quality, Hope the nose is mended now, smelling in the first degree. Trauma is always a pain, but Paul makes trauma easy, Even when the problem sometimes makes the tummy queasy. All is well in PV land now that your back and on it, Same is said for RUclips stuff hence this funtime sonnet. Sending hugs and fondest love from both myself and Angie, Hopefully we'll see you soon, now that's the lot from me. 🤗😊❤
So glad that you are back, and mending. I wouldn't think that travel in a pressurised aircraft would be recommenced so soon after such an event. Interesting observation about aspirin. I discussed taking aspirin with a Doctor once, and he just said 'avoid', but I do know that others suggest it is a good idea. Great to see you looking well!
You wouldn't think it was a good idea, but the specialist said there is no evidence that it will cause an issue. My instincts tell me the opposite! Aspirin is most definitely an effective blood thinner, but in my case the clarity from the different doctors simply wasn't there.
Glad you are back home, but right choice re plane flight - might have aggravated whatever set the bleeding off in the first place. Had to giggle at the Arnie description - oh dear me, I could visualise that so well! But scary for you and for Paul too - very difficult for him to see you in distress! Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again and they find what started it off in the first place. xx
Even regular nosebleeds suck. I really feel for you going through one like that with all that trauma! I hope they figure out why it happened and make sure it doesn't happen again. Glad you're okay and hope you're 100% soon!
Hi from Scotland hi Richard oh I am glad your feeling better I have seen one of those nose bleeds and my god it is scary it was my son it was a few years ago I thought he was going to bleed to death you need to see it to really understand what the person is going through good you have Paul with you and he would have been reassuring you and yes the NHS is amazing you take care and take it easy because it zaps all you energy and give you a terrible fright so relax and look after yourself till Paul gets back I wish you well Anne from Scotland
Dear Sir ... Thank you for giving us the update on health. We are so proud of you boys to have manage everything in such great way. My mother had a slip last year and it was a can that gave her bit more control and composure in walking. Its very much understandable to be drying out if you are not drinking for hours and hours and bleeding is still going on. I hope that god will bless you with best of health and happiness. Thanks and best wishes. Respect 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Oh Precious one so sorry you had to go through that😢 Please rest and take care of yourself.. wish I didn't live so far. would love to use your vacuum for you.💌 Glad you had good care and happy you are continuing to heal.🌹💋
Sorry to hear you've been unwell, Richard. Sounds like a frightening experience! Maybe keep some Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) on hand as a first aid measure. If you have access to fresh plant matter, you can bruise the leaves & apply. I normally dry leaves & blooms then grind to a powder & store it so I have it out of season as well. It's styptic action is very effective at stopping bleeding.
Thanks for the tip, but I'm afraid it wouldn't have done any good...it was a posterior bleed right at the back of the nasal area... inaccessible...which is why pinching didn't do any good.
Wow, crazy stuff. Glad you are doing better! When I was a child I had a very scary nose bleed where my mom was called home because it wouldn't stop. I ended up getting the vein in my nose cauterized. YYYYYeah, good times. I still have some nose bleeds but not nearly as terrifying. Stay cool and don't overdo for a bit. Take care and I hope this all gets figured out for you!
Gosh you have been through such a trauma. Yes, we are so lucky to have the NHS in this country. Take care Richard, Glad, bloody glad to see you on the mend.
Oh my god Richard poor you, I think I would have a little panic too, I was wondering where you 2 were, I thought maybe yous were in Guernsey, Paul sounds like he was being very calm for you, glad you are doing the right thing and resting, take care ❤️
Scary experience. I was prone to severe nose bleeds in high school. Doctor told me the last time I went in they would cauterise it. Think my nose heard and behaved since then. Not only is it scary, it is messy, worrying and uncomfortable too and it leaves you weak from blood loss. Get better soon and I hope your nose behaves for you from now on too. Missed the Sunday Chat this week but now I understand.
Man that sounds like EPIC fun at the A@E and then on to inpatient treatment. Good that you had good care and being in the hospital is definitely not for sleeping! We've got a joke about that as we've both been in for various surgeries, or my partner with diabetic issues. I am glad that you got good care though and felt like your issue was resolved when discharged to home. I'd be panicking too if I felt like I couldn't breathe potentially! So glad you are staying home to recover and just take it easy and chill out your blood pressure as much as possible. Hoping by now the inflammation in the sinus cavity has gotten better and you can rest and just feel human again. Sending warm blankets and some old classic films to watch and better days ahead. Thanks for sharing your story. I got attached to you guys watching the Sunday chats and etc and hated to think of you and Paul both being ill and caregiver. Good on Paul for hanging in during the gorey bits. lol. I've had to excuse myself during a particularly gorey bit being done to my partner b/c I got woozy and had to go splash cool water on my face and calm myself a bit. lol That was ages ago, now I can mostly sit through some intense things and detach enough to be more supportive. Take care and if you do Sunday Chat , do it with gentleness and let Paul be the goofy loud guy and you just zen thru hiss Leprachaun games. ;)
had my bugle broken several yrs ago and fractured eye socket , those tampons are disgusting and only left me swallowing blood ...my heart goes out to you Richard ..trauma .. salt water wash can help the smell that blood leaves in the sinus .. I do hope things settle ...PAUL is a star .. be kind to yourself MR x
So sorry to hear that you have been in a bit of trouble Richard but lovely to hear praise for your health system. People are so inclined to grumble and complain. Your comments will be welcomed by NHS staff, they work so hard and deal with some difficult situations. Get well soon 💕✌️
Oh Richard you poor man - that sounds like such a scary experience. So glad you had Paul there to help see you through. Don't rush anything - take care.
So glad you're on the mend Richard, and thanks to Paul for taking good care of you. I feel the same about our national health service here in Canada, very much appreciated.
Oh thank goodness you are alright!! I don't do Facebook so I was out of the loop. Yikes, 40 minutes, that's scary, and then for it to get worse. Oh gosh I'm cringing. I know you don't want a hug, but I'm sending you a mother's hug!
So sorry to hear this Richard do take it easy and get well soon very wise not to fly to Guernsey cabin pressure may have started it off again take care Richard x
Thanks Madeline. Well, according to the specialist that's not the case....I was assured that flying would be fine....my instincts told me otherwise....!
Like trying to get blood out of a stone. Good on Paul supporting you. Why were you taking Aspirin before for? Take care of yourself and hope you fully recover soon. Guernsey will wait for you pal.
I have an existing heart condition and take Beta Blockers everyday....i was told to take aspirin after an incident of Atrial Fibrillation and basically they forgot to tell me to stop taking it!
@@RichardandPaul Was it the low dose aspirin or the 325 mg? People are individual in regards to sensitivity to ASA. Even though doctors recommend a standard type dose, as in 75 or 81 mg, that may or may not be adequate or may be too much. There are research papers published on dose and efficacy but that's it. Also any dose of ASA causes microbleeds in the stomach. People need to be careful. After 5 days off, all of your platelets have been replaced by new ones so the effect of ASA on your platelet aggregation is finished. We have a 20% daily turnover on new platelet formation..... I know it sounds ridiculous, but in a way it is better that you had a visible bleed as opposed to a slow leak in your stomach. That can really cause significant debilitation. Your story was both excruciating.... and hilarious. I'm sorry but I did laugh a few times. Did they know your cardiac history when they stuffed adrenaline up your nose? We don't even use it for haemostasis on gum tissue anymore. Too dangerous for heart patients.
Very smart to not travel. Would not want you to go through that again any time soon! So glad your doing better. I don remember that scene from Total recall, how could you not. You poor thing! Continue to get well.
How awful for you. I also had an interesting Friday, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues. I got to take up residence in our local hospital. We have matching bruises also. No blood thinners for me either. Isn't life fun! Feel better, and do please rest. I know I am. Lucky us.
@@mandyofmarymac oh gosh, it's a bit scary isn't it. I had an episode of AF a few years ago.....ended up in resus on oxygen....I do hope you're feeling better...x
@@RichardandPaul I feel better, thanks. But you know, I never really felt all that bad either. Now I wonder if I can trust my heart. That is what really scares me. Thank you for the kind thoughts. I'm just glad that I never smoked. xxoo
Richard and Paul 🙋♀️ Richard, oh I know, just you keep yourself warm, rest lots and Chi-lax...scary times, hospitals but the NHS is definitely a god send which needs more funding 🤞 night handsome...😴 love to Paul and mum 🌷💋💕
Thank you, bloody thank you for this video Richard. I had been wondering how you were getting on and now my fears have been allayed. May tincture of time bring you complete wellness soon. Vivi doesn't seem herself either these days. What's going on over there?!
Glad to see you again I agree with your decision to stay home I’m sure the air travel would not be wise in your situation.Have you tried a Nettie Pot.?it will flush out all the dry blood etc and clear up some of the sinus pressure.Just a thought luv take it easy!🐝
It's interesting because the specialist said air travel would have no effect.... I'm afraid my instincts told me not to! I'm just allowing all the 'stuff' to slowly exit my nostrils!
My sister had recurring nose bleeds and had the blood vessels in her nose cauterized with a laser device. She has not had a nose bleed since and is now able to resume daily aspirin. Sorry you had to go though all that. Take care Richard.
So pleased you are home and on the mend, sounds very scary, glad your experience with NHS was positive, good to hear as I work for NHS. Love to you and Paul, good decision not to fly as pressure in plane could have started bleed again. Hope you are completely well soon xxx❤
Well it's interesting because the ENT specialist told me flying doesn't carry that much of a risk for exacerbating a nose bleed...we asked the question knowing the trip was arranged. But my instincts/anxiety just told me to avoid it. Who wants to have a mid air emergency? The pure thought of that was enough to put me off.
I was getting worried, not seeing you. What a horrible experience. I'm glad you had good medical support, and, of course, Paul. Staying home, rather than flying to Guernsey, was the right derision, and I'll bet Mary would would say as much. Calling in sick because you just got out of the hospital, is a damned good excuse, though. ;) Be well. And, hopefully, Paul will do a Guernsey video for you and us. Oh, I finally got a car, so I have to gather up everything that needs to go to the dump, only open on Wed and Sun. ~ Jon in rural BC, Canada
Well, I just wasn't ready to face the onslaught at work as it requires me to be talking all day long which is a no no for me with this inflammation. I'm lucky to get full pay.....!
Felt so bad for you for all you went through I watched all the ads all the way through so you can recupe some of the money spent on taxis. Think it was a very wise decision not to fly after that experience, So glad you are back.
You're very kind thankyou Jackie. I felt that flying would have filled me with too much anxiety, even though ENT specialist told me the risk is low, I wasn't willing to take that chance.
Ohhhh Thank you Richard for posting this, I was really getting worried. Nasty business, noses. Glad you are on the mend. Bless and best wishes always oxoxo. ...I was wondering if you could or should fly, Best to stay home and just chill for now.
ps. if you have access to a pharmacy , a good help to heal bruises is arnica gel or cream. I have bad veins so always get a bajillion needle sticks before they find a vein and inevitably bruise all over the place. One phlebotomist said that they suggested using heat (after the fact) to help dissipate the bruise and help the displaced blood reabsorb. Maybe you just need a warm bath and of course time heals. As someone else said, a nasal saline rinse with distilled water willl help get the icky old blood out of the areas it's not needing to be. Holding off though might be wise as well or just using tepid saline not super warm to do a sinus rinse so as to prevent the healing tissue from breaking open again. 'sounds like the aspirin was the wrong advice for you though and you can just rest and let the professional deal with it soon. Don't stress it, the specialists usually are much faster and better at getting things examined and taken care of and as you're not bleeding, no more beastly tampons into the depths of your face. lol. I'm traumatized for you!

Oh Richard you poor man - that sounds like such a scary experience. So glad you had Paul there to help see you through. Don't rush anything - take care.
It was pretty scary and very uncomfortable..... thanks Jane.
So glad you're on the mend Richard, and thanks to Paul for taking good care of you. I feel the same about our national health service here in Canada, very much appreciated.
Thanks so much Nancy. I'm so grateful to all of the health staff for the treatment and support.
Oh thank goodness you are alright!! I don't do Facebook so I was out of the loop. Yikes, 40 minutes, that's scary, and then for it to get worse. Oh gosh I'm cringing. I know you don't want a hug, but I'm sending you a mother's hug!
I'll gladly take that hug!
Good to have you back Richard, take it easy and I hope you will be back to your usual self very soon. xxx
Thanks Mary... another couple of days should see me back to normal I think!
@@RichardandPaul I agree with you best not to chance it take care
Sounds like a traumatic experience Richard.
Thanks for keeping us posted.
Glad you're feeling better. Take care. X :)
It was traumatic....I have little flashbacks, but they're fading, and I always try to see the funny side of any situation. Thankyou 😊
Glad to hear you're on the mend.
Thankyou 😊
Like trying to get blood out of a stone. Good on Paul supporting you. Why were you taking Aspirin before for? Take care of yourself and hope you fully recover soon. Guernsey will wait for you pal.
I have an existing heart condition and take Beta Blockers everyday....i was told to take aspirin after an incident of Atrial Fibrillation and basically they forgot to tell me to stop taking it!
@@RichardandPaul Was it the low dose aspirin or the 325 mg? People are individual in
regards to sensitivity to ASA. Even though doctors recommend a standard type
dose, as in 75 or 81 mg, that may or may not be adequate or may be too much.
There are research papers published on dose and efficacy but that's it.
Also any dose of ASA causes microbleeds in the stomach. People need to be
careful. After 5 days off, all of your platelets have been replaced by new
ones so the effect of ASA on your platelet aggregation is finished. We have
a 20% daily turnover on new platelet formation.....
I know it sounds ridiculous, but in a way it is better that you had a visible bleed
as opposed to a slow leak in your stomach. That can really cause significant
debilitation.
Your story was both excruciating.... and hilarious. I'm sorry but I did laugh a few times.
Did they know your cardiac history when they stuffed adrenaline up your nose?
We don't even use it for haemostasis on gum tissue anymore. Too dangerous for
heart patients.
@@gabriellakadar I was taking 75mg. They only knew the drugs I am taking....not sure if I was asked why.
Very smart to not travel. Would not want you to go through that again any time soon! So glad your doing better. I don remember that scene from Total recall, how could you not. You poor thing! Continue to get well.
I thought so....but I've always been overcautious..... thanks so much Sally 😊
Sending you a hug Richard, keep resting and healing.🌹
Thankyou 😊
Thank you for keeping us posted....what you went through sounds awful......I am glad you are getting better. all the best to you.
Thanks Lucy. It was nasty but I'm sure I'll be back to my usual self soon!
How awful for you. I also had an interesting Friday, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues. I got to take up residence in our local hospital. We have matching bruises also. No blood thinners for me either. Isn't life fun! Feel better, and do please rest. I know I am. Lucky us.
Oh no Mandy! I hope you're alright? X
@@RichardandPaul I'm doing better now. I developed a "surprise" case of A-Fib. What is it, pick on Virgo's month?
@@mandyofmarymac oh gosh, it's a bit scary isn't it. I had an episode of AF a few years ago.....ended up in resus on oxygen....I do hope you're feeling better...x
@@RichardandPaul I feel better, thanks. But you know, I never really felt all that bad either. Now I wonder if I can trust my heart. That is what really scares me. Thank you for the kind thoughts. I'm just glad that I never smoked. xxoo
How are you feeling? I'll bet that your nose really hurts.
Glad to hear you are getting better,
Sorry to hear you also unwell or have been hunny bun 😩 glad your on the mend, take it easy doll face 🙏💕💋 hugs 🤗 x
Awww thanks lovely. I'm bouncing back as usual. But you know these things take you by surprise! 💋💋💋
I'm so happy to see your ok.
That must have been so scary for you. Sending you lots of hugs & kisses xxx
Thanks so much 🤗💋
Missed you. Take care Richard.
Thank you, bloody thank you for this video Richard. I had been wondering how you were getting on and now my fears have been allayed. May tincture of time bring you complete wellness soon. Vivi doesn't seem herself either these days. What's going on over there?!
It's life isn't it Lorraine....these things always seem to come in clusters. I'm sure we'll all bounce back as we usually do! Thanks so much 😀
What an awful experience! So glad you're better! Just take it easy for a while. Maybe you shouldn't give so much! :)
Thanks Wendy.
Scary stuff Richard. Stay well x J 💚
Thankyou 😊
A frightening experience for you, best wishes to you and paul xx
It was. Thankyou 😊
OMG !! thank god your ok
I'm pleased I'm ok too! Thankyou 😊
So glad you have done well, Missed you. Do take care, rest and treat yourself to some special little thing you like but normally forego.
My sister had recurring nose bleeds and had the blood vessels in her nose cauterized with a laser device. She has not had a nose bleed since and is now able to resume daily aspirin. Sorry you had to go though all that. Take care Richard.
Thankyou 😊
Oh bless you, that sounds so awful, you are doing very well though 🤗
Thanks Lynne....I'm sure I'll be back to my old self in a couple of days.
You’ve been really brave, just listening was making me squirm. I’m glad the worst is behind and hope you continue on the mend. Elizabeth.
Thanks so much Elizabeth.
I was getting worried, not seeing you. What a horrible experience. I'm glad you had good medical support, and, of course, Paul. Staying home, rather than flying to Guernsey, was the right derision, and I'll bet Mary would would say as much.
Calling in sick because you just got out of the hospital, is a damned good excuse, though. ;)
Be well. And, hopefully, Paul will do a Guernsey video for you and us.
Oh, I finally got a car, so I have to gather up everything that needs to go to the dump, only open on Wed and Sun.

Thanks Donna. My instincts told me not to fly.....I just didn't want to risk a mid flight emergency.....
❤️🙏😘
Ouch that sounds awful Richard but I think you did the best thing by not flying and staying home and resting :)
I think so too! I like to go with my instincts!
ps. if you have access to a pharmacy , a good help to heal bruises is arnica gel or cream.
I think I'm going to let it all come out naturally....I think the majority of it has found its way out.
