The walking grill of the toy industry is back at it again, roasting the hell out of bad figures and greedy companies and rightfully so. Love this channel, learned so much from it.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Anthony is front and center when it comes to real action figure reviews. Most of these other “reviewers” just gloss over the articulation points on a figure. While Anthony breaks it down, actually going into the detail of things, while still keeping it objective as possible. Keep up the good work!
Not too much lately, most of them are saying gee, that plastic is really gummy for 2023, Hasbro was good by low prices, but with hike prices, they are turning in a joke.
I’m a new collector and honestly I’m not looking for something fantastic Just something affordable and articulated for my stop motions. But it’s good to have someone I feel I can trust
I love hearing you tear into trash figures. It’s so refreshing compared to some others. Plus it makes your positive reviews all the more important to me
most other channel are not actually doing reviews. They just repeat some bullet points. Like if you were reading ingredients from a cereal box. They're not actually looking if something is good or bad, if it works or not. They're "so the head goes like this. The arms like that. The legs do this" Like i said, they're reading a list from a box. They're not reviewing anything. You dont actually know if a figure is good or bad when you look at the usual channels.
Even the fans nowadays aren't pleased. I dont think ive heard any real positive response from this wave except for Electra. Barely any accessories or anything. They're so cheaply made. No paint details.
I want everyone to really think about this moment right now... this figure could have been bought by any collector out there but instead; the universe brought it to Anthony's hands. This is like hitting the lottery, being hit by lightning or simply a one and a million opportunity. The fact that this particular figure made it into his hands is by the the grace of the universe to show us what hasbro is all about. It is the low quality build of their action figures because they could give a shit about their customers. Let it sink in folks. Yes, it is that deep. Lol
I literally had my jaw hang open for several moments when I saw your figure break apart just from being unboxed. And after watching the rest of the review, I have never felt more justified not collecting Marvel Legends than I do now.
Marvel Legends for majority of their figures are just repaints, and tbh the newer body molds kinda suck more than these body molds which made me give up on Hasbro. The only ones maybe worth buying are the new ATSV figures.
@@sillygoose0193so you're telling me I'm paying almost $30 for a figure that's not proportioned right so I can make a custom that's gonna be oddly proportioned and overpriced? Nah, I'm good
At least it only came apart. I've had Marvel Legends where the plastic shattered (ABS I think) or tore/sheared off on a joint (PVC most likely) when I articulated it. I don't remember any Toy Biz figs breaking.
Hasbro did it again! Its definitely an action figure, I think I have Tarantula as my most figure of the year, maybe of all time! The paint is painted and the sculpt is sculpted!
a bold move by hasbro bring back figures with exploding body action features and even more so on a figure of a guy made of flesh and bone. They must be really aiming for adult collectors with this bit of ultraviolence but they really skimped out on giving him blood effects like Storm Collectibles MK figures do.
Man, that is bad. Crikey! Anyone would think it a Hasbro bootleg knock-off. What has happened to these figures? Honestly. Hasbro’s exorbitant prices continue to rise yet the quality, especially in this most recent Spider-Man wave, has taken a hit. I am so pleased that we have a critically honest, objective reviewer in Anthony-the man is bloody brilliant. Grazie, Giovanni Marino, M.D.🇬🇧
Setting aside that shitty quality control, I always thought Tarantula's design made him look like a B-movie Spider-Man or how a parent tries to dress up like him for cheap without getting even a party city costume.
Damn, first one I’ve seen that’s gotten a straight 0/10. It’s always funny to see how frustrated Anthony gets as he just decides to blow through the rest of the review like it isn’t worth the time or effort 😂
would love to see you look at the SH figuarts across the spiderverse wave. everyone is really divided about miles. its like, yay hes a great figure if you get a good one, but falls apart in your hands if you get a bad one.
for me there is no contest-mcfarlane most figures are unique sculp(i can add paint myself) for lover price, hasbro stuff....too expensive, for the price they want You to pay those should be fricking amazing, and they are mostly garbage, only worth second hand/lover price for fodder for customs. Great review, had a good time watching it
People really seem to misunderstand the importance of objective reviews and reviewers like yourself, Anthony. In these times of extremely high and unjustified price hikes, there needs to be at least one prominent voice calling out these companies when they are so clearly ripping off their customers. I used to be a massive ML collector but over the past 3-4 years (possibly even before that) I began to see the cracks in Hasbro's armor. Thanks in large part to your reviews. It's not fun to hear things you're excited about turn out to be bad, but I view your videos as almost a public service because I'm sure it saves some people a few of their hard earned dollars.
Great video !!! We as collectors appreciate your honesty and not sugar coating anything !!! Hasbro needs to step their game up with Marvel Legends. They're doing a great job with their other toy lines , such as Star Wars the Black Series, Power Rangers , Joe Classifieds, etc. but not so great with some Marvel Legends figures. Figures should not be falling apart instantly after removing them from the plastic container.
Right on point, this and all the "across the universe" line, looked "cheap" in my opinion, not worth what they expect the customers to pay, no accesories either, you gotta wonder if at some point they are just gonna sell us boxes without nothing inside and some people will still buy them and defend them XD. Aniways great review and have and excellent day.
I legitimately didn’t think the Across the Spider-Verse line were Marvel Legends initially, but they were charging $25 dollars for figures that looked like Happy Meal toys.
I have a saying. Results always lag behind effort (or in this case, lack thereof). Right now, it looks like Hasbro is laughing all the way to the bank, but let’s see where we are at the end of next year after retail buyers have had time to pivot on the the line’s performance and adjust their order quantities.
Yup. I've mentioned this on other videos here, but I'm starting to see more and more legends on clearance at big box stores. Eventually those stores are going to alter their ordering accordingly.
Wow, I got mine and it feels like his arm is going to fall off, I'm not a huge fan of the sculpt but honestly this is the first one of him we have seen in 12 years which is why I got him, but I was so disappointed too.
If I recall, the first time I saw someone getting a similar issue with the figure falling apart was the Amazing Fantasy Spiderman. I understand QC issues are bound to happen when there are a lot of figures produced, but not at the numbers Hasbro has been having lately
I don't mind some figures to fall apart, like for example Amazing Yamaguchi Cabel but there need to be a reason for that. ML line doesn't have any excuse.
Ok I know this is an old vid. But I just had to say! Two of my has bro figs just fell apart taking them out of the packaging!!! 😮🤬 my morphed Ken and crimson baroness!!! Not cool! I really think I’m done with hasblow. I pray that the QC issues are minimal on my haslabs!
I haven't bought a marvel legends in years, don't think I will but always happy to see how bad they've gotten with your reviews. I still collect the Star wars line but with the increase of price and crap characters I might stop that too. Here's hoping that Mafex will get to the spiderman characters I want.
Anthony in 2017, reviewing the Sunfire figure: "I'm pretty happy to have it". Anthony in 2023: "F*ck the Sunfire mold". LOL Jokes aside, it's pretty sad how Hasbro doesn't give a 💩 about making their molds look good consistently. Look at the retro carded Falcon, WHY is it the only figure in the Sunfire body with decent shoulders? Hell even that Sunfire from 2017 compensated the aesthetics with decent paint job and the fire effects.
Was waiting for you to tear this figure a new one ever since it was announced. This figure summarized why Marvel Legends are on the decline and it’s due to Hasbro/Disney greed.
I just got most of the newest gi joe classified figures and its crazy to think that hasbro makes both lines because classified are that much better. I know that there are no licensing fees w the classified series but that shouldn't mean anything to the consumer
Well, GI Joe is one of the few lines that actually belong to Hasbro, I guess they put the people who actually give a damn in charge of these figures, lol. With Marvel and Star Wars they can just release whatever and someone will buy it anyway.
As a kid I had some comics with Spidey facing off against Tarantula. Then there was the run where he was accidentally mutated into a giant spider by Brand Corp when Willo -The - Wisp threw a spanner in the works. At the time Tarantula wasn't superhuman, but a highly skilled human. He was bigger and looked more imposing than Spidey. Just like this figure. Not! I'm certain Hasbro look at what doesn't sell and just think the character is unpopular. Not that they made a crappy figure with sod all accessories and value.🙁
Man, I don't know if you are lucky or unlucky when it comes to qc issues, lol. It's kind of a blessing that you get figures like this to prove your points even further. Don't buy this thing, Hasbro will eventually release an "improved" version without pins, black mask and, if they are feeling generous, an extra pair of hands.
This is the reason why I ditched legends and started collecting GI Joe. Sure it’s from the same company but the difference is absolutely night and day.
I don’t care about pins, but if they’re a different color than the inside of the arm it really needs to be painted. They already take liberties with the character designs, could they not have figured a way to make that pin red and the costume red on the outside?
When I saw the thumbnail, I knew this figure was gonna get tortured and destroyed by your honest reviews! I'm always down for truth! Haha, On a serious note, that's just some bs! Isn't this the same body they used for Hawkeye? That one also had tiny low shoulders and bubbly arms. This buck just looks so wimpy and bubbly that it will stick out on a shelf, and not in a good way. That new Black Widow is honestly as good as they can do, but even by modern action figure standards it's lacking in some of the articulation areas. No BAF either.
