Joel, you certainly don't have to apologize for being frustrated. I think anyone would be frustrated when an integral piece of equipment isn't working properly, and that all your plans have to change. But you ended up having a very productive day anyway, and that has to feel good.
I always hit the like button before I even watch the video because I know I’m going to enjoy the video! The barn is looking really nice keep up the great work Joel and have a Merry Christmas🎄🎄🎄🎄
Joel, I had to laugh when you said that no matter which choice you made (on where to put equipment) there would be a better way to do it! I've often briefly thought that myself😉 On the other hand doing something, _anything_ is better than doing nothing, which is what I tell my perfectionist self when I'm wibbly wobbling with all that timey wimey stuff! 🛢 Have a great day! We've finally had some sticking snow here in southeast wisconsin. I love the chilly weather, although at 80 I'm glad I don't actually have to be out in it too much. 😉
Lots achieved despite set backs 👏👏👏👏👏 Your MOM is awesome such a capable lady 👍👍👍👍 Kitchen closing of video lovely ❤ Megan looking good girl Enjoyed the video 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Love from the UK x
“So many ideas floating around in my head, no matter what I pick there will be a better way to do it.” I so get that! BUT there’s always more than one way to do a thing. Good hard working man is one of the most important ingredients for success. Go Leftie, Heard that on Veggie Boys 😂
I had to disconnect the seat safety switch on my John Deere because it was so sensitive that any shift of my weight in the seat would shut the tractor off. I don’t like having the switch disabled but the tractor was almost unusable with the switch connected. I asked the dealership about the switch and they assured me it was working as intended. Which I find hard to believe as I am a big guy and I can’t imagine a teenager even being able to drive the tractor with the switch connected.
Joel, you should use a 55-gallon drum with holes in the lower sides and bottom to burn your scrap wood while you're working. Make sure you put a couple of cinder blocks under the drum for better air flow.
If you keep using a new pattern board to mark the next one to be cut the board will grow in length always use the first one you cut every time which is why I call it a pattern board.
Thanks Joel, that was great! Nice to see the progress! Looking forward to the next one! Isn't your Mom an Ochs? I'm surprised she didn't grow up driving tractors. Maybe she's just rusty or not used to your tractor. always glad to see your folks, your wife, and Gavin in the vids!
storing lumber at an angle supported only at both ends could lead to "bows". Thanks for sharing all your work experience with horses & construction projects. 🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇🐐🐐🏇🏇🏇🏇🏇
your cat looks just like mine. She has two names. A regular one and one for her attitude days. She mostly has an attitude. So let me introduce you to Miss Puss. Well never mind. Miss Puss is hiding because she is mad at me for not feeding her a fourth bowl of food.
fyi, you might could have used a hair dryer to thaw your seat out...Doing great work. I'd much rather watch you doing this than riding around in a tractor.
To make repetitive cuts like that make sure your saw is fastened down where it won't move then at the Right distance screw down a stop in your case on the trailer....that will give you exact cuts every time....then just move the stop as your measurements change.
If that truss rafter is made correctly, each board that you cut for the left side of the truss will be the exact duplicate for the right side, needing only to be flipped over when you position it.
You should be doubling the number of webs that you are cutting of each size and if they don't fit in the template for the opposite side then the template is not laid out correctly.
Everything now a days is made to brake and have to be brought to a proper place that fixes what broke cuz on everything new now a days they don’t what you to work on it so they make it so you gotta go to a dealer or shop to get things fixed they’re trying to cut out people that would’ve been able to fix it just so they can make more money sad but true
I have a suggestion for the tractor seat. Should this happen again on any tractor on the farm, what about putting a hot water bottle or a damp towel that is steaming hot on the seat to melt the sensor? What about adding a seat cover or a tarp to help with dry rot? Awesome video! Great to see Mom D and Leia. Never apologize for being frustrated! It is a part of life thing for everyone. No worries. Glad your day got better. See you in the next one.
I'm thinking why not find a protective BBQ grill cover to pop on the tractor seat? Next project: enlarging or rebuilding the 3 sided outbuilding where you store the tractor - I think you know that *wink*
I don’t get it… you have the cart for rafter templates. Why not pull it into one of the veggie boys green houses that they are not using. Then you can cut and assemble out of the breeze and snow.
To Err is Human, to Really Foul things Up takes a Computer. Some Bean Counter felt they could Raise Profits if they Manufactured addl. Parts that Break.🤪👎
Mom opens the truck door "she's old but she's doing well'' hope she knew you were talking about the dog :)
😂
The burgers looked delicious 😊 Eating what you hunt is great!
Leia made a surprise appearance on Veggie Boys. She came out front to visit Andrew!
Grammy finally got revenge on those deer for eating her red beets!
Yes! Yes she did!
Thank you for getting lovely footage of your grandmother preparing lunch. She is a natural on camera. She takes good care of her family too!
Hang in there young man
😆 Mr Joel that's what he old folks call the good ole days with the seat 😂

Throw a few hand warmers on tractor seat to get it warm. 😮
You two are so
Precious. I am getting so excited about the hay barn. Going to be awesome
That’s the spirit …. Positive thoughts trumps the day!

As a fellow Lefty, i can vouch what a pain in the neck working with right handed equipment like saws can be!
You've got a lot on your plate. One thing at a time. I'm amazed your building in the winter. But know veggie during warm months
Joel, I'm surprised you didn't make a windbreak by hanging a tarp on the side of the barn while you were cutting those boards. I was freezing. 🥶
Smart as hell!!!

Great video Joel 👍👍 Really enjoyed it
Clicked the like button ONE TIME! ❤

Waving a hand from texas
Grate job it looking grate getting closer love guys from Steve c from the state of Oregon USA
I knew those corn fed deer wouldn't go to waste.
It makes me wonder how farmers survived for a hundred years without a safety seat.
Many didnt.
I'm thinking a heating pad on the seat might fix the problem
The board cutting takes a lot of time. Visual progress will come later.
What's Grandma's favorite food to cook?

😊
Hey Joel do they make a seat cover protecter for the tractor seat?
Joel, you should use a 55-gallon drum with holes in the lower sides and bottom to burn your scrap wood while you're working. Make sure you put a couple of cinder blocks under the drum for better air flow.
If the deer eat the corn you raise, poop it out and corn stalks grow, does that make the deer veggie farmers?
Jump around the safety switch
You need to make a jig or a least a stop block ,so you don't have to measure every time
If you keep using a new pattern board to mark the next one to be cut the board will grow in length always use the first one you cut every time which is why I call it a pattern board.
It's been so long since i had venison. I'm going to have to get a license since i don't know anyone who hunts anymore. So sad.
Thanks Joel, that was great! Nice to see the progress! Looking forward to the next one!

this was frustrating horses cribb on wood will they do that inside your new hay barn???
Joel, we love your channel !!!! I've learned that I'm not getting a New Holland tractor.
It’s not a bulldozer.
Scaffolding and walk board on the outsides certainly would be nice

a lemon tractor? they should get you another tractor with all the problems you have had with this one
I think you should square the end before you cut. Like build videos. Take care
I know you love your tractor but.....
Your going to bolt the rafter to the post that stick above the top plate
Joel when working on the barn why not ask the veggie boys to come help when there free from work will that help do more in one day
Might rethink that tractor for a TYM or a Kioti.
that is a complement that your mom is not big enough to trigger the safety switch on the tractor seat !!!
What day is it ???????????

Take an old pad and heat it up in the microwave. Place it on your seat to warm it up.

I'd be getting on that dealer, your having too many issues.
Is it the tractor or the operator

Do yourself a favor and get a kubota!!!!!
You can pay for it.
you need a new intro
Why don't you just set up a stop to cut the boards?
