I don't think the American guy liked the food very much. To me a lot of Russian cuisine looks like it is an acquired taste. But you have to have an open mind and be willing to give new things a try. I was recently introduced to kefir. Not the fake stuff sold in California, but the genuine Russian stuff. I wasn't crazy about it at first, but now I find myself craving it everyday. And Russian Salad is one of my favorite dishes. I discovered it while in Portugal. Good stuff!
@@Flying_Lexus also there's something inherently "organic" about eating russian/ukrainian cuisine like this. Maybe the meat is assumed to be grassfed? Who knows. All i know is that after a week on Odessa or St. Petersberg, my third leg is pulsating like a beast.

Sergey, if people think you do not wash your hands then they are not paying attention. In past videos when you were taking Vika to eat, it was always wash hands first. I also happen to know that for Russians it is habit to wash hands when they come in from outside. (I was taught this by my Russian grandparents when I was little). Russians are actually better at hygiene habits than many Americans.
I live in a part of Canada that has many people from Russia , some schools even have Russian lessons in school. We have many Russian meals which I like. Borsch , varenki, pyrogies etc all are very good. Good food makes good conversation and friends.
I love kvass. When I was in Crimea in 2004, I drank a ton of it from street vendors. Salo is my favorite food, period! I had a bowl of borsch in Odessa, which was fantastic and they put 3 slices of salo on the side. I would go back to Ukraine just to eat there again!
The food always looks so good in these smaller cafes and restaurants you go to. I had to laugh a bit when he tried the caviar , you could tell he was not sure about it. The beef dish you had Sergey looked excellent.
Once again, Sergey, you deliver a very nice video. I'm interested in Russian food, and try a lot when I visit Russia. I even made my own Borch at home... after searching for a lot of Russian recipies..... Pelemi and other nice food is very good. Wish you a nice week ! Take care, and I'm looking forward to your next video!!!!
I would have loved to be in that cafe. I am sure I would love Russian food. I have been making the Oliver salad for a number of years after finding a recipe on a Russian blog. Great video as usual.
I love your videos! It’s like being there with you in Russia. That restaurant looks and feels like someone’s home. I wish I could be there to eat that blini and IKura. That would be wonderful.
I really want to try the real Russian cuisine, looks so tasty and i would say healthier overall than what is today standard UK cuisine. The more I see of SPB the more I want to visit, maybe stay forever. Need to try it out first. Sergey - your videos should be required viewing in the 'West', where most peoiple have no idea what real Russia is like. Keep filming and educating us, tahnk you so much !
Ha ha, I love your honesty Sergey. There is no filter in between your words. You speak right from the heart. And thank you for trying to talk a bit more about flavors and food this time. :))
Hi Sergey, I am enjoying your videos on S.P and not as usual, I even subscribed. I looked for the "Kvartirka" Restaurant on Google Street View - didn't find it on Nevsky Prospect 51 street views. Is it hidden ? As a future tourist to S.P. , maybe you can help us to find the best way to change currency. Thank you in advance
Love your videos I want to visit Russia so bad your guys restaurants are so much better than ours here in the USA there so comforting like your at home and quiet hope to visit one day keep up the good work
Swear words in a foreign language do not seem to have the same impact as in one's native language, they can seem comical in fact. Doubt if Sergey appreciates how the emphasis on certain words can change meaning.
I hope you won't judge all Americans based on this gentleman. I'm not sure what he really has in common with wholesome sweet Sergey; an odd couple. If Mr. Ronald wants so much to be on camera maybe he should just his own channel.
I can really relate to the Texan. Visiting an Israeli restaurant on business when I do not each fish (especially Carp) was NOT a good idea. You need to prepare yourselves for these challenges :)
I was only saying the word you used " fucking" was rude ,washing your hands is good ! I think you used a word that a lot of Americans use but is not allowed in polite company . I like your video very much 💌
I'm a real Russian and I never understand the combination of taste of Russian pancakes with caviar. From my personal view, the Russian pancakes is much better with hot melted butter, sour cream and different jams. Probably, pancakes together with caviar was an old Russian tradition for centuries ago, but nowadays I didn't see a lot of Russians who do like the combination of pancakes and caviar at all. By my taste, the combination is just disgusting! The best combination is the very small white bred toasts with the little amount of butter, caviar and few drops of lemon juice on top and with a shot of cold vodka, of course.
This is not surprising. Many people in Russia have a stereotypical attitude towards blin s. Many Russians perceive them as a traditional dessert, which they love since childhood, and children mostly eat it with jam, condensed milk or sour cream. is the same flour product as bread or a tartlet for example. Вut blin s like bread combines with many fillings. Foreigners do not have such stereotypes and therefore if they like the taste of caviar, they enjoy eating pancakes with caviar. The combination of vodka and caviar is a Russian tradition and it is better to use traditional rye Russian bread in this case. Foreigners prefer a combination of caviar and champagne.
@@СветланаАлексеева-ш1р , Yeah, foreigners prefer the black caviar with champagne and they just eat the chilled caviar using the little spoons without any bread. Russians always eat caviar with the bread products.
Let's say more precisely that only black caviar from silver (or crystal) dishes with silver spoons in any country of the world is eaten only by aristocrats. And ordinary people eat red caviar and most often with bakery and other products both in Russia and in Europe. In America, the tradition has caviar from ordinary citizens did not work out.
The fish eggs he's eating looks like salmon eggs. If they are salmon eggs it's no where near as fishy as other fish eggs. What kind of caviar did he eat?
I think americans and russions should spend time learning from oneanother .let the leaders fight lets ddrink russion beer.and get along.love russa and usa.
most of the restaurant food does not look that appetizing. The only thing i may have tried is the egg/potato salad and the borsch soup. The Georgian restaurant/menu looks somewhat better. Have you done a video on the typical Russian's home menu?
The theme of that cafe is really nice, just like you are eating at someone’s home. Lovely video! 👌🏼👏🏼☺️💜✌🏼
Very cosy
Love how it looks like grandmas house. Thanks for posting.

Love your videos! This restaurant was very interesting. We call this food, "comfort food" like mom use to make.
You make a nice couple!! It’s always a good thing to have a wonderful friend.
Another great video, Sergey! Your videos help break down the cultural fear we older Americans were taught about Russia in the 60s-80s.
Hello, Ronald, from Texas. I'm Evelyn, from Missouri. I know this vlog is last year, before lockdown, every where.
