    Thank you. These videos are extremely helpful. Really appreciate how you break things down. So clear to understand. Love how in the basic routine you demonstrate how just a few basic moves done with excellence can be beautiful to watch. It's nice to have an example of perfect form to visualize for when I practice with my partner.

      Curtis Wang Thank you for your kind message. This is not a basic dance so it’s fun to play with for all dancers and I am glad you benefited!

    In the Old ISTD books, the Syncopated Pivot would be unallowable, but I think the new ISTD books now added the Syncopated Pivot. Ballroom master teacher Eglis Smargis also told me that International Viennese Waltz now had added 2 or 3 figures that you do not usually see in this type of Waltz.
    The 1980s Viennese Waltz dances in competition only allowed for Reverse and Natural Turns, Forward and Back Closed Changes, Reverse and Natural Fleckerls, and the Contra Check--7 moves. Now there are about 10 moves in Viennese.

    I loved how you put effort into phrasing, and then you made it a point to comment about it at the end of the video. I love it when choreographers take the time to match the phrasing from the dance steps to the phasing of the music. Thank you! - Derek

    Also - Victor Silvester in his book "Modern Ballroom Dancing" (a book I have) that covered the Fleckerls in V-Waltz, mentioned this - "there is no rise, fall or sway in the Fleckerls."

    not to dampen the enthusiasm, but usually the dancefloor is not THAT empty when waltz is on, especially when the orchestra is winding up with _Blue Danube_ :D
    btw: afaik Vienna alone throws ~400 balls between new year's eve and ash wednesday.

    • @BallroomMasteryTV
      @BallroomMasteryTV  2 года назад +1

      That’s ok, typically we don’t like what we can’t do or understand. Don’t give up! None of the steps are basic. It’s one of the more difficult dances due to the amount of turn on each turn.

    Thanks for the video. It's been really useful in brushing some dust off my rusty waltzing skills. I'd love to know the name of the songs you dance to, as well.
