My dad worked there his entire career! He was the President of the AFGE! I worked there in the early 1980's for a few years, when it was still an Army installation. SO much history and memories!!!

I lived in the huge mobile home park between the Leonard Wood Arch and the cliffs above the beach 1958 - 1964. My father was chauffeur for General Moses, the Commander of the United States 5th Army. General Moses' pet doggie was a miniature collie named Dizzy. Our home was parked less than a block away from the old set of stone steps down to the beach. Farther north they built the new steps to the beach before we moved December 1964. We used to drive though the Tower Tunnel and beep the horn. My schools were Wayne Thomas in Highland Park and Oak Terrace in Highwood. During 1962 Post Halloween Party I won 2nd place as The Statue of Liberty. The winner was an officer's kid who dressed as a pumpkin. Lol, Good times!

I had great childhood memories living there 1958-1964. I lived in the huge mobile home park, lot 837, between the Leonard Wood Arch and the old set of stone steps leading down to the beach, close to the revolving radar. Love. 🙂❤

I lived there from 1984 to 1988 while serving in the Army. Some of the best years of my life. I worked there in an office to the right of the tower from 1988 to 1990 as a civil servant. So many memories. It breaks my heart that so much of the history has been destroyed to make money for rich developers. 💔
