This is the ONLY reference I can find to setting up the Hive mini in remote mode. Not only that, but it was done simply and with all the caveats (duration etc) that you need. Subscribed!!!
Your’e a star! Hive website doesn’t explain fully well the wiring between the “common” , “live” and “hot water on” terminals. I’ve gone all through the manuals and community resources but none of it. Since I’ve followed the wiring, it was magic to hear my combi boiler come to life with the heater.
Thanks. I initially installed this using the wiring from my old thermostat and added L, N and 3...it seemed to be working, the receiver made a click when the thermostat target was above the actual but nothing happened...in your video I've seen the link between L and 1 so after adding that it worked
Another great video. Can you post a video installing the mini as part of a multi zone installation. Just bought a hive multizone system for my daughter and it would be helpful to see how this is installed for use in an upstairs heating zone.
Great video, thanks. Am just thinking about a Hive but not sure which to choose, this is way neater without the hub so surely it’s the better choice? What’s the difference, why would you choose one with a hub?
Subscribed! Great video with easy explanation! Just to ask if you was to remove the hive in the sense of moving house can you just move the wiring from the boiler and leave everything else?
Great simple video. Two questions. Is it OK not to connect an earth? I read that the Hive is double insulated - it's plastic - so it's not necessary. Also the no. 3 terminal is the switched live, right? Thanks.
Morning. I've accidentally bought the dual channel unit for my combi boiler instead of the single channel. I've moved the wire from 2 to 4, the heating on terminal. Should I remove the link wire between 1 and live or leave it in place? Thanks.
Hi, thanks for your videos, i found your video with Main Eco e30 elite boiler and Salus Thermostate, and 2nd video with Hive mini thermostate and Worcester boiler, but i have Hive mini thermostate and Main eco 30 elite, did wiring in boiler as u mentioned in salus video and did wiring in hive as mentioned in hive video, but boiler not switching heating ON when i increased the temp in hive thermostate, hive thermostate gas green light comes ON but boiler gas does not comes ON. pls help
Why is it the earth wire not connected to the hive earth. My old boiler receiver only has 4 wires do I just do the same as you I’ve seen some videos with 5 wires connected
I’ve already got a thermostat in place, it’s a dial but did have a digital one before (landlord replaced it cheaper). Am I right in thinking wouldn’t need to update the boiler and it would just be a case of installing the receiver where the thermostat dial is now?
Hi, great video. I want to upgrade my thermostat, I checked my current Honeywell thermostat, it only has two wires, blue and brown. Would I require a new wire?
@@advancedboilertraining I'm wiring into an Ideal Logic 30, grey wire into 3, the thermostat kicks in the controller and it lights up green but no go with the heating. Unsure if this is normally open or normally closed. Previously had a Horstmann HRFS-1 T50 installed
@@advancedboilertraining I thought that would be the case, not a huge amount of clear info around though. Honestly don't really need the app functionality though

Hi great video. I have a worchester 2000 combi with the standard programable thermostat that uses the cartridge underneath the boiler to communicate with. I was told the hive system are not compatible with these boilers, is this no longer the case or do u have to get the hive mini for it to work 🤔 also can u still control the heating using the hive app with this mini, thanx
Excellent tutorial upload on hive min - Worcester that any DIY can follow. I presently have an old Honeywell kit Y6630D Wireless Analogue Room thermostat. Can you please offer any wiring advice on on how I can use the existing external wires that now go into honeywell receiver to wire the hive receiver rather than open boiler apologises because this comment is off the main topic
i have a worcester 2000 and when i remove my panel to expose the wires etc they look nothing like yours - there is no LR LS NS N L - all i have is a blue block, brown block and a orange block that has 2 connections on each with 2-1 2-1 2-1 the orange block has BUS written on it, i have scoured the net to look for these same connections to fit a hive and cannot find anything like mine
Not necessary as grey is a 'live' colour. Brown , black and grey are the three live phase colours. PS - To original video maker, great video 👍 how great you'll be when your third hand grows 😂
I'm a total ameteur I have just recently replaced my kitchen cabinet which had a digistat SCR coming in below it. I didn't want to cut out a hole in my new cabinet and took it off the wall. It is hanging off the wall at the moment and made me think about replacing it with something more high tech for my ecotec plus boiler. I noticed something odd or at least odd to me, when I took it off the wall I assumed it would only be connected up to the boiler as that was the only large white cable I could see but then there was a second one in the wall. I'm now even more confused looking at this guidance video as there is only one large cable connecting the two together like I assumed there would be with mine. Any idea what the second cable is for?
Hiu I have an original Worcester 2000 boiler which was supplied with its own wireless thermostat. I had hive and was told this was not compatible, The model No is GC2000iW C and all electricians I spoke to inc manufacture said its not compatible, then they updated boiler to be compatible. I want to use my Hive, as their supplied thermostat is very basic
Incorrect. If you buy the full hive mini kit it’s comes with the hub also. This set up was just the thermostat & receiver which is a cheaper alternative
Great video. I have a worchester 2000 combi with the standard wireless thermostat it uses a cartridge underneath the boiler, i was told the hive isnt compatible with this boiler, will this mini hive still allow me to control the boiler through my hive app
It's alright, under the Part P Plus and Part L legislation it's the customer that faces the £5k fine if they go to sell or rent and it's picked up as non-compliant. If you're supplying and installing though you have no choice but to fit one that complies or the responsibility and cost falls on you as the installer.
That's what BG is fittings for the customers, and it works. Not everyone will have money to purchase the nest thermostat. Some are found to find fault in what seems to be a post
Did you use the existing wires inside the boiler to connect this or did you buy extra wires to install it? Handy video but I just couldn’t work out whether you used new wires or used the existing wires 🙈
Linking up L and 1 is very important point to note. it didn't work with out this linking up. Thanks for telling us. Shame on hive even though they make the product , Instructions doesn't work.

Can an earth wire be used on the hive thermostat new cable with permanent/switched live and neutral

If you’ve got a spare cable for Earth then it’s best to use it
how would this be installed if all you have is a two wire thermostat installed? and only two wire connections for a stat on the boiler?

Why fit a smart thermostat that can’t modulate a modulating boiler?
Because it’s what the customer picked. He got it really cheap off of someone and wanted it fitted. I advised against it but that’s what he wanted
