I've seen people on Reddit able to make their own lightguns with slide kickbacks by gutting an airsoft gun. I'm pretty sure there's instructions on how to do so.
I have the 4IR upgrade and recently did all the updates to the retro shooter box and absolutely love my converted T2 1Up. Great to see these in action on a PC.

It doesn't actually need to be connected to your console. You can plug the usb in anywhere. In fact they recommend you plug it into your TV usb slot if you have one.
Another great video. I can confirm the sensors make a hellova difference on the RS box as well. I just completed the updates that will give you the laser disc based games and add games like Rev X. Also got in on the MX24 gun (once I saw how much better the tracking is!) Note: for people who have the current 2 IR setup, you WILL HAVE TO UPGRADE TO 4IR SENSORS. The 2ir guns will not work properly without upgrading the muzzles and adding 2 more sensors.
@@HeavyInstinct reading is fundamental. The original gun’s muzzles will be replaced with the new muzzles you get when you order the new ir sensors. If you keep the old muzzles on, they will not work properly with the new 4ir setup. I have both sets of muzzles, they’ve changed them. I’ve also tried to use the original muzzles with the new sensors. It doesn’t work. Which is why they send new muzzles. Of course if you keep the Gen1 guns and Gen1 2ir sensors, it will cont to work, not what the video was about.

Just an fyi the retro shooter had an update that gives you a ton of free laserdisc games AND revolution x which all run great. You cant beat this plug and play light gun option now. I have videos showing the update if you are interested. An update was already released fixing the sound on rev x

Yeah I got the retro shooters a couple months ago and they came with the newer guns and 2 extra sensors, I’m currently working on a PC build with Launch Box and Teknoparrot to run them on
Aw man, this looks way better than it used to. I think I might wait a few more months and then take the plunge; no doubt there’ll be even more firmware updates to better the plug and play experience, which is what I’d be using because the only computer I have is a MacBook Air. seems pretty cool! money allowing I might have to find a couple of these for my PC! I'm sure the wife would love to play arcade AREA 51 and HOTD with actual guns. not to mention all the other fun games with lightgun support.
I have the original retroshooter and even though it's only 2 IR's works great in my multicade cab. My only issue is that they don't keep product for long and you can't get the 4 IR system anymore. For early customers, you kind of got left in the dust. Also just getting 4 sensors won't work you need the new gun heads that use different software/hardware. But even now that'll be obsolete as they move to their new machine gun system. I will say that they at least work with the latest pandora's box and that's not a bad system for plug and play retro gaming compared to all the headache of building your own pc system. I think at this time you just wait as I agree with you, light gun games are here to stay and multiple companies will come out with better and more cost effective solutions. Sitting it out for 6 months to a year is wise.
I agree, the tech is moving quickly... they did ofter an upgrade kit to the early RetroShooter customers but I'm not sure how widely communicated that was. So I'm sure people missed it, that stinks. Cool that they did it but I'm sure some people missed the communication and didn't get to order it. It is very cool that they offered it though, just wish they kept the option around longer so all the gen 1 people could have got in on it. As far as the lightgun tech in general, if Blamcon does what I think they're going to do, they're likely going to drop the mic on all of these options. The question is, will the price be right? The submachine gun is an optional product to the handguns and uses the exact same 4 IR technology that the original retro shooters do. It's not in any way meant to be a replacement or "next generation" product. Rather it is a limited run product that some people may be interested in having in addition to the handguns. I had the original retro shooters and did purchase the upgrade to the 4 IR system. But I honestly could have been happy with them the way they were originally but the upgrade definitely makes a noticeable improvement. Connecting them to a PC also makes a big difference. And since they are recognized by the emulators as a keyboard and mouse they will never be "obsolete" regardless of what new products come out. Like with many electronic gadgets these days (cell phones being a great example) they are only obsolete if you're trying to keep up with the Joneses. Having said that, I definitely agree with you that waiting things out is often a good idea. I have been rewarded for doing so many times.

If a person wasn't paying attention to their email or retroshooters social media, they may have missed out on the opportunity to upgrade. I almost did myself but was able to get in on the second run just in time. People complained about missing out on the first run so they gave their customers a second chance at making the upgrade. But I totally understand being disappointed if you missed out on that as well. As I said though the original system is actually still really good. The only thing I took exception to was your comment "but even now that will be obsolete as they move to their new machine gun system". That comment suggests that they are abandoning the new 4 IR system as well and moving on to something else. That is just not true. As I said the new machine gun offering uses the exact same 4 IR system as the upgraded originals do. It is not a "new system" at all. Also if you're really bothered by the bulkiness of the original sensors you can purchase 2 of the new smaller ones as a regular item on their website.

So it’s not a simple swap out of your handguns for the machine style guns. My whole point is it’s cool that these guys are constantly creating new things and trying to improve, but I kind of feel as an original customer I was a beta tester for them. Thankfully, there are two IR system works great in my arcade cabinet after purchasing the IR sensors from buy stuff because they’re more discreet.
Awesome review! Have been waiting for a good value light gun since the Sinden announcement years ago; loved seeing the Sinden’s build quality and recoil, but didn’t like seeing the difficulty on the setup from owners. RetroShooter, with this update, seems to have beaten Sinden in ease of setup, more powerful recoil, similar build quality, and lower price (and 2 pedals with hub/console to boot)! This really helped me finally… pull the trigger… on a purchase, lol; thank you! Going the PC route, but looking forward to seeing your updated Pandora’s Box video to see the difference in performance with four sensors
Sinden isn't hard to set up. Their wiki includes the gunmouse cfg and example ini for mame, they have bezel packs with the border baked in, they tell you the api's for reshade to use, and a visual tutorial for tweaking. Runs on usb without a power brick or extra hardware. My issue with it is despite proper configuration I still run into tracking issues with a game here and there. You need to be at a certain distance from the screen, lighting has to be dim, and even so I still get games where the crosshair flickers in and out or retreats to the upper left corner. I have started looking at these IR options but I really like the Sinden shell; the pump action really makes a difference and I like not having any wires or sensors. If you are running a monitor on a desk, get Gun4IR, but if you have a cabinet that requires you cutting holes in your bezel... up to you. I'm still on the fence.
I didn't think about using those guns with a PC. I've been watching your reviews with the thought of getting them for my Pandora's Box. I have an LG C4 TV that I can stream to from my PC. The TV has a built-in gaming graphics card. Once I get my new PC built, I'll give it a go!
LOL... well, even if we do, most of us our middle aged men and it's damn near impossible to coordinate 4 friends to be over at the same time ... LOL. I'm laughing and crying too man... haha.

12:52 that's the Ghost Squad gun! XM-2119, A fictional weapon, original design by Tokyo Marui (Japanese airsoft gun manufacturer) for the arcade shooter Ghost Squad by SEGA AM2. There exists a modern sub gun that happens to bear a resemblance to this fictional gun, it is the CZ Scorpion Evo. These guys must have gotten ahold of a decommissioned Ghost Squad cab, or at least the guns and cloned the gun controller. Very cool!

Love my Retro Shooter. I want that new rifle, but I just paid for updating my 1st gen. It wouldn’t surprise me if they come up with another pay-for-update gen 3 where it eliminates all them cords.
We don't have a wireless gun on the drawing board. It would be heavy and with no recoil as the battery would take up a bunch of space inside the gun and the recoil would chew through the power pretty quickly.

I am tired of my Sinden Guns. I think I am going to sell them for these. Seems like it's an easier way to play lightgun games. Having used both, what would you recommend? Or, should I wait for the new guns you mentioned?

For the recommended light gun drive you linked in the description, is it plug and play for the most part? I was curious if there was other options such as a Coinops light gun set for PC if we loaded the light gun drive ourselves.
I have just started building a light gun cab, and im going to run the integrum drive. Getting guns 4ir is unbelievable at the moment so i ordered sinden guns and pedal. My question is how do these stack up compared to sinden? I didnt know you could run these on pc and i kinda want the MX24.
When you do the 4 player retro shooter I saw you do both hubs but do you have to double down on the sensors, for 2 it was 4 IR sensors but for 4 players would need 8 IR sensors to pick up the other two guns? Curious cause I have thought about doing this
The gun 4IR sensors need to be placed in the middle top , bottom, left and right so unfortunately, that configuration won't work with the retroshooter. The placement for retro shooter IR sensors is top left, top right, bottom left and bottom right.
@@RetroRalph Correct, but if you have the Gun4ir sensors placed in the corners then it would work. those sensors will work with our guns in the correct orientation.

Thanks for clarifying 👍🏻 My sensors in my setup are actually mounted to the metal frame around the monitor so I can’t easily move mine, so not really an option for my setup so I just run both and turn off the others depending on the gun I’m using.
Question answered in the comment section. You can use the sensors for gun4ir if the sensors are placed in the corners. I have 2 sets that you can turn on and off.
They offered the upgrade for a limited time, now the only way to get the upgraded guns is to buy new ones. Pretty cool that they even offered upgrades though.
Great video Ralph I attempted to get these folks to send me this system to review. After a month of waiting for a reply back they told me to contact them another time as they were busy. If that’s how they treat potential customers who are spending money on it they can pound salt.

It does support that, I just test a lot of these guns so I sometimes forget about certain things. But yes, you can use offscreen reload as well as button press reload.

Also, The Lost World for the Supermodel 3 emulator I see people also struggling with shooting off screen to reload. Any idea if that game supports offscreen reload with the retro shooter? I want to avoid using a button as much as possible. Breaks the immersion.
Hello All, pardon my ignorance, these lightguns that are sold on the retroshooter website with the consoles.... do those CONSOLES actually hold the games for use with these lightguns? OR have to download them from the web go from there? Like I see some of those 4tb-12tb GAME HDD for sale on Amazon with some of the games mentioned here, so I am thinking that these lightguns could be used in conjunction with those Game drives? or am I on the wrong track here? Thanks for any clarification
They don’t currently come in black. Except I think the new gun does: retroshooter.com/mx24-pre/ You can remove the crosshairs if you want, that’s all done in software. 👍🏻
Those look nice. Are they just plug and play? I have an Integrum shooting drive with my XGC arcade with Sinden. I am asking because I don’t like the accuracy of Sinnden light guns.
Are these compatible/mappable to Android? Also, just asking the universe - is there an Android light gun RetroArch playlist file (with known versions of games needed)?
You can use the Gun4IR sensors but they need to be placed on the corners of the screen. We have a calibration software for our guns. Super easy to use.
I have the latest update and the gun still doesn't track properly in 4:3 mode when the Pandora system is in 1080P to 720P modes. Thankfully the native 4:3 mode (1024x768) works perfectly.
I haven’t heard a peep from Polymega about the gun, I hope there’s an announcement soon. I pre-ordered mine (like I’m sure you did) what seems like a million years ago 🤣

I want to get these as opposed to the Sindens i have for simplicity sake, but knowing what the sale price was can't justify the current price....especially when i still have Sindens
How low do they get? I'm currently seeing $229. $449 with the drive Ralph recommends, seems reasonable for a complete plug and play. I'm using Wiimotes with dolphinbar and growing frustrated that you can't adjust the accuracy.
@@msaint30 I use to use the Wiimotes and dolphin bar also. This system with a fisheye lens is so much more accurate. Plus, you don't have to stand far back to use it You can even program the guns in dolphin emulator.
With the light sensors.. im not sure why they dont make them L shaped the put onto the corners of the tv to set the entire zone rather than straight sensors so the entire screen is covered rather than an "approximate" zone.
There is a plug and play option if you order it with the pandora's box console. However, it is limited as the power of the unit is not the best. It's pretty good though if you want a plug and play option but just know you won't have the flexibility of using a PC setup.
Yeah be cool if you could focus on the retro pandora box system please just because the average consumer like me doesn't have a mega awesome arcade setup like u do lol, I have a laptop lol, but if they have improved the pandora box to the best they can it would be good to see, then I would get one
You could probably use your laptop as well. I use a laptop to play these games and then HDMI out to the TV. The Retro Shooter lightguns connect to the laptop.

All you have to do is plug your RetroSHooter console into an ethernet port, I believe the updates should happen over the air using Wifi too. However, you then need to load the roms manually. The Time Crisis 2 guns at the arcade was the coolest the slide kicks back and forth when you shoot. Non of these lightgun even comes close.

The TV mounted IR sensors can be daisy chained so only one cable need run from the console to your TV.

This is completely incorrect. The original guns will continue to work with just two IR emitters. You do not HAVE TO upgrade.

Runs on usb without a power brick or extra hardware. My issue with it is despite proper configuration I still run into tracking issues with a game here and there. You need to be at a certain distance from the screen, lighting has to be dim, and even so I still get games where the crosshair flickers in and out or retreats to the upper left corner. I have started looking at these IR options but I really like the Sinden shell; the pump action really makes a difference and I like not having any wires or sensors. If you are running a monitor on a desk, get Gun4IR, but if you have a cabinet that requires you cutting holes in your bezel... up to you. I'm still on the fence.

I didn't think about using those guns with a PC. I've been watching your reviews with the thought of getting them for my Pandora's Box. I have an LG C4 TV that I can stream to from my PC. The TV has a built-in gaming graphics card. Once I get my new PC built, I'll give it a go!

12:52 that's the Ghost Squad gun! XM-2119, A fictional weapon, original design by Tokyo Marui (Japanese airsoft gun manufacturer) for the arcade shooter Ghost Squad by SEGA AM2. There exists a modern sub gun that happens to bear a resemblance to this fictional gun, it is the CZ Scorpion Evo.
These guys must have gotten ahold of a decommissioned Ghost Squad cab, or at least the guns and cloned the gun controller. Very cool!
I got the update yesterday. Quite good. The PC is definitely better when things work but I can't count on the console to work when I just wanna play.

You would have to get the HDMI board for it and hook the console up through that. I don’t think a softmod would work

Love my Retro Shooter. I want that new rifle, but I just paid for updating my 1st gen. It wouldn’t surprise me if they come up with another pay-for-update gen 3 where it eliminates all them cords.
We don't have a wireless gun on the drawing board. It would be heavy and with no recoil as the battery would take up a bunch of space inside the gun and the recoil would chew through the power pretty quickly.

PC is the way to go for sure..I noticed a lot of videos with pandora box they turn it to 1080p..probably better off leaving it at 720p.

I have just started building a light gun cab, and im going to run the integrum drive. Getting guns 4ir is unbelievable at the moment so i ordered sinden guns and pedal. My question is how do these stack up compared to sinden? I didnt know you could run these on pc and i kinda want the MX24.
When you do the 4 player retro shooter I saw you do both hubs but do you have to double down on the sensors, for 2 it was 4 IR sensors but for 4 players would need 8 IR sensors to pick up the other two guns? Curious cause I have thought about doing this

The gun 4IR sensors need to be placed in the middle top , bottom, left and right so unfortunately, that configuration won't work with the retroshooter. The placement for retro shooter IR sensors is top left, top right, bottom left and bottom right.
@@RetroRalph Correct, but if you have the Gun4ir sensors placed in the corners then it would work. those sensors will work with our guns in the correct orientation.

Thanks for clarifying 👍🏻 My sensors in my setup are actually mounted to the metal frame around the monitor so I can’t easily move mine, so not really an option for my setup so I just run both and turn off the others depending on the gun I’m using.
Question answered in the comment section. You can use the sensors for gun4ir if the sensors are placed in the corners. I have 2 sets that you can turn on and off.

Yes, It can 100% be streamed and sent through a capture card.
Looks like the option just to get the front ends are no longer available. You have to buy new guns with the additional 2 IRs.
They offered the upgrade for a limited time, now the only way to get the upgraded guns is to buy new ones. Pretty cool that they even offered upgrades though.

Great video Ralph I attempted to get these folks to send me this system to review. After a month of waiting for a reply back they told me to contact them another time as they were busy. If that’s how they treat potential customers who are spending money on it they can pound salt.

Does this not support offscreen shooting reload? I noticed that on Virtua Cop you had to push the button to reload instead of shooting off screen?
It does support that, I just test a lot of these guns so I sometimes forget about certain things. But yes, you can use offscreen reload as well as button press reload.
@@RetroRalph thanks. It looks like you tried the offscreen reload but it didn’t work so you switched to the button. Also, The Lost World for the Supermodel 3 emulator I see people also struggling with shooting off screen to reload. Any idea if that game supports offscreen reload with the retro shooter? I want to avoid using a button as much as possible. Breaks the immersion.

Hello All, pardon my ignorance, these lightguns that are sold on the retroshooter website with the consoles.... do those CONSOLES actually hold the games for use with these lightguns? OR have to download them from the web go from there? Like I see some of those 4tb-12tb GAME HDD for sale on Amazon with some of the games mentioned here, so I am thinking that these lightguns could be used in conjunction with those Game drives? or am I on the wrong track here? You can use the Gun4IR sensors but they need to be placed on the corners of the screen. We have a calibration software for our guns. Super easy to use.

I have the latest update and the gun still doesn't track properly in 4:3 mode when the Pandora system is in 1080P to 720P modes. Thankfully the native 4:3 mode (1024x768) works perfectly.
How do you get multiple guns to work on your PC? the PC recognizes guns as mice, how do you connect multiple mice without conflicts???

How low do they get? I'm currently seeing $229. $449 with the drive Ralph recommends, seems reasonable for a complete plug and play. I'm using Wiimotes with dolphinbar and growing frustrated that you can't adjust the accuracy.
@@msaint30 I use to use the Wiimotes and dolphin bar also. This system with a fisheye lens is so much more accurate. Plus, you don't have to stand far back to use it You can even program the guns in dolphin emulator.
With the light sensors.. im not sure why they dont make them L shaped the put onto the corners of the tv to set the entire zone rather than straight sensors so the entire screen is covered rather than an "approximate" zone.

There is a plug and play option if you order it with the pandora's box console. However, it is limited as the power of the unit is not the best. It's pretty good though if you want a plug and play option but just know you won't have the flexibility of using a PC setup.

You could probably use your laptop as well. I use a laptop to play these games and then HDMI out to the TV. The Retro Shooter lightguns connect to the laptop.

How do we get the firmware updates that you mentioned in the video?
All you have to do is plug your RetroSHooter console into an ethernet port, I believe the updates should happen over the air using Wifi too. However, you then need to load the roms manually.
