Maelstrom is a Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (HoMM3) map included in the Horn of the Abyss mod (HotA), with a reputation for having an unpredictable and sometimes very punishing start, thanks to all starting heroes having Diplomacy and many opportunities to rapidly strengthen.

I love the part where you talk about your editing and respond to some of the comments. Really shows that you read comments which just feels nice (also that gladius bogged me a lot but i think anyone could miss it with that darn mountain next to it). I can totally understand what you were saying about comments. I myself also record let's plays usually far in advance and then release them one per week to have a continuous output of videos. Just want to say again that I really enjoy this playthrough. I like that it is not a random map with the querks that come with random map generation. Keep it up!

Eovacius the Slayer of 200 Giants would be a great title to strike fear into the hearts of your enemies... Alas, those enemies haven't got the brain to feel fear.

Just stumbled across this series yesterday and I'm hooked! Can't wait for the next one to see how the war proceeds against tan and red. They look to have some very strong armies and heroes, so there should be some very interesting battles ahead.
To save the enchanter, you could leave them defending a sawmill or ore pit, and pick them up after the fight. I don't see any near the castle you're attacking, so I don't think it really applies to your situation in this game. And of course, you also have to weigh the cost of the movement points.

This is really fun to follow along with! Would you ever consider doing any Heroes 2 content? I seem to recall you mentioning that you're a big fan, and it'd be interesting to compare it to its much more famous successor.
I'd love to, but a while back I tried recording Heroes 2 on OBS and the image came out frozen. I don't know why. So I probably won't try it again unless I get a second monitor and can 100% confirm it's recording properly.
