The more Coltrane sounds in the air the better becomes the world
and for that, the sounds of Coltrane in the world, improve the air 3:33
Coltrane, Garrison, Jones and Tyner. What a quartet!
The Quartet!!!
Gotta love McCoy on the keys man
I just found out about the "guitarists" album he did. I went straight to the Derek Trucks parts and wow! Wow! Tyner and Trucks! I love that musicians across generations, races, and even distance are coming together like never before.
Despite the beauty of a 'new' 1963 Coltrane recording - that goes without saying - the best thing about this track just might be the chance to hear Jimmy Garrison play an arco solo, followed by a chorus of him walking with Elvin Jones before Trane restates the Theme.
ghairraigh Totally. The arco solo is very cool. It’s the most Paul Chambers-sounding thing I’ve ever heard from Garrison. And then when Elvin comes back in and they swing out! Talk about groove.
I have always loved the sound of Arco - especially Paul Chambers with the Red Garland Trio. I admire all the great arco players like Mingus, Ron Carter (but you have to hunt for examples), and Jiri "George" Mraz. Christian McBride stands out among the 'younger' guys. Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen is a particular favorite of mine at this seemingly lost art.
I’m so glad you said this!!
Yes, here we go.
A Huge thanks goes out to the Coltrane family for keeping this personal copy safe and secure for all of these years!
And a strong rebuke for sitting on the material for so long. And, there is still more that hasn't been issued. Get on with it, Ravi. The tapes won't last forever, mate!
I love this era of Coltrane. This is the Coltrane we heard in A Love Supreme. He takes simple song structures and plays with such passion. Bravo, Mr Coltrane
Heavy, heavy, heavy Dolphy influence.
Coltrane's brilliance is timeless and his music extends far beyond jazz.
Just the sounds to help us get over these dark days.
marknorthwest93 St.John.
🙏 thank you
Guy Montag I agree, back then 50s 60s etc were the good old days, but racism and sexism and tensions were much more ignored, tolerated, and neglected. Then there was things like war, cuban missile crisis, nixon scandal, people didn't handle it as well back then and panicked.
You meant just some great sounds to go along with the amazing prosperous times of today! What a time to be alive!
That's not how I take it...
The arco bass solo starting around 3:20 is flame grain
I'm breathing with difficulty after listening to this. Coltrane lives, man...
McCoy!!! This makes me so happy damn.
Oh my goodness this is a treat. 71 years old I first began listening to John Coltrane when I was 14 years old.
This is fire
Bro...this is WAYYY WAYYYYYYYY Hotter than simple fire!!!!
And a Blues too!
To me, it sounds like "liquid fire." Or maybe, "flaming water."
Whatever, it's definitely something transcendent. Beautiful, evocative, and sublime.
Hay dió mío joseju, donde te vengo a encontrar.
*lava
I can't stop listening...
Anything by Coltrane is worth hearing.
Just as quality as anything else Trane gave us. Rest in Peace.
Nobody can make melodies like Coltrane did.
Just beautiful! Great timing John! We needed this today.
I put this on Loop and just let it play over and over. Wonderful.
This track is fenomenal; and the visual aspect just adds a whole new dimension!
This is an uncovered gem of musical expression!!!!!!
"Music video" takes on a whole new meaning when taken literally like this.
Ein Genie. Genial. Das ist unglaublich. Ein wahres Kunstwerk.
Yes! What a surprise. The 🐐 left behind a hidden gem!
Fantastic. A musical and visual treasure.
Structurally, melodically, and to a limited extent, harmonically, this tune sounds analogous to the tune 'Joelle' penned by Wayne Shorter. Though recorded a couple of years apart, the connection is eerily ethereal. One wonders.... 😢
Fresh.....listen closely and you can tell...it was joy being distributed throughout these sessions.....evenly.....Bless
Brings back memories of growing up listening (with my Dad and Brother) to Les Davis play ENTIRE Coltrane albums on WRVR! Trane Lives!!!
Simply beautiful I can't stop listening
Wow what a great tune. My mother is a fan of jazz and turned me onto smooth jazz, free jazz, traditional jazz. I had heard her playing jazz in her van when i was younger and always opted to listen to classic rock instead which is another genre of music she loves. In 2013 i decided to listen to some John Coltrane and Miles Davis alone in my room without distractions and loved it upon first listen by myself. I started buying every MIles Davis and John Coltrane CD and record that i enjoyed listening too and now have quite the collection. I like some of the tunes on this album and will be picking up this album on CD and vinyl record for sure.
Just what I'm in the mood for. Love the animation, too!
This is a masterpiece of recording...So full and rich...I wish i would have been there !
whats even more amazing is that after all those these years, 55! its een found. it like findinfg something new, yet its still old.
The phrase Coltrane plays at 1:52 sounds so good, and something about the fact that he plays away from the mic makes it sound even cooler
i love the bridge between the end of the bass solo and percussion.
All the flavor of his wonderful music!!! wow!!!
Great song. My mother who got me into Jazz told me about this newly unearthed recording, being a big Coltrane fan I'm blown away. Will be buying this on cd.
words do not suffice to describe the admiration and appreciation of the mere existence and influence these composed sound waves have on my soul ! i love this dude n his quartet🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎
This is incredible!! never expected a new Coltrane album and not complaining one bit :-)
There's some more unreleased sessions, hopefully they all come out!
What he's doing around 1:08 is simply amazing.
Still the greatest quartet ever. in any genre.
4:44
Heavenly!
After hearing coltrane olé in 1998 when i was in the army i been in love with his music. This is a prestine example of his genious mind.

It already IS.
Philip Ocasio A Happy Birthday to one of the great innovators of Jazz, who would grasped both the inner and outer spiritual realm of creativity on the saxophone. An amazing musician, see his documentary on NetFlix or RUclips. Who wasn't influenced by the genius of John Coltrane? I thought Coltrane was a complete nut, basket case when I first heard Giant Steps, and yet, even though he had passed when I began my journey playing the tenor sax in 1968. At 66 yrs young, I still enjoy playing at home along with so many of his music CD's, which include Giant Steps, A Love Supreme, Crescent, Transition, Meditation, Coltrane and Hartman, and many others...RIP... John and thank you for taking me along that vastness of your musical universe. Now I hear and experience these recordings and again find myself in awe of the ingredients in this lost recorded music, along with the visualization of what positively went on in your mind as you created the sound through your sax, is nothing short of amazing. 🎶🎷🎼
Looks like a heart beating.
Jimmy Garrison is killin it - that solo is... wow!!
Thanks, it's a great album
How f-in' good this is, people! I'm speechless - it makes sense to be born...
This track needs a title. It is far to good to go through eternity as #Untitled1383
It needs recognition
unspeakably beautiful
Elvin! yesss....on fire!
This was the most satisfying song/video i've ever heard/saw
Pure art.
Yes!!!!!!!!! Just read about this 😎😎😎😎😎😎🔥, man that bowed solo, the incomparable Elvin Jones, Tyner and the master himself Coooooooltrane!
that... just.... made the world better.
Cool! Great job, whoever did the visualizer!
Coltrane was in a zone that can never be reached again.
Beautiful.
Amazing! I also love the visualizer based on Coltrane's tone circle. Who authored it?
my question as well
i would presume it's variations based on the circle of fifth
not sure who is the author of the visu though
The visual is almost as impressive and intelligent as Trane's sound. That's too rare not to be mentioned!
exactly
Interesting.
12-bar blues! Thank you, John!
Get down brotha !! 😎 still jamming this in 2022
Simply put, True Music Brilliance!
Superb music. Thanks.
From a stylistic standpoint, this the extension of A Love Supreme
Classic Coltrane! #goosebumps
+1
it's gorgeous. thank you for posting.
Masterpiece
More of this, please.
Pure genius!
I'm back studying the Circle of Fifths and this visualization is simply perfect, lol! So cool!
sounds fresh and exploratory
Namaste Om it is fresh - after 55 years in hiding!
wow! what a tone!
I heard this on WPFW in DC this morning. ❤❤
Wow......oh my.
Coltrane sigue sorprendiendo, aún después de haber dejado este mundo.
RUclips needs a Love Button.
It sure does need a Love Button. Like doesn't even begin to describe how I feel about this track. Buying this album for sure.
