    The emergency on/off valves that are placed in the tub encasement, how do you get to them? Looks like you would have to rip the tile off, then waterproof sheetrock. Is there another way?

  • @jw1731

    This looks like a great idea. I kind of regret following the free standing tub fad. Drop in tub seems like it'd be more comfortable and you can leave stuff around the tub, candles, iphone caddies, plants, etc.

    I love it but I would’ve put the tub so one can look out the window I know it’s a lot of extra work but if it was my home I would definitely do the extra work.❤

    couple of questions around the tub frame....did you secure the pressure treated base to the floor? Did the tub manufacture provide the frame dimensions or required support requirements or did you merely build a frame to fit the tub edge?

  • @irvingg.1437

    So why put shut off valve on the side of the tub when you can't get to it?

    • @briansimon1263
      @briansimon1263 4 года назад +1

      You would remove that side panel. Most likely its held in place by caulking.... (can't tell from the picture if that is actually grouted tile or not)

    The tub was put in and cement added to set underneath the tub. But then the tile was added and the tub sits on top of the tile? Wouldn't that create a gap with where the tub was originally sitting because of the tile and mortar height?

  • @jamessurname2285

    Isn’t it bad to run tile up to the tub lip instead of under the lip?

    Since the frame for the tub is 2x material, how to you adhere the tile to the wood??

  • @stephenc4161
    @stephenc4161 3 года назад

    So when caulking fails water gets in beside tub.
    Why not waterproof ,tile then drop tub in then caulk with silicone.

  • @manuelcontreras4070

  • @johnbultemq8026
    @johnbultemq8026 Год назад

    Tub was installed sitting on wood deck is a mistake. The installer should have allowed a space for backer board and tile and 1/16 for caulk.

    How do you water proof the space between the wood frame and the tub layering? If water does end up getting through the marble waterproofing and caulking then wouldn't the wood underneath absorb the water like a sponge and ruin everything?

    • @getitdonehomerepair
      @getitdonehomerepair  5 лет назад +1

      You paint on the same water proofing on the wood that goes in the shower stall. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks for all the detail. I'm about to do my first one today. Couple questions....do you fasten the tub down in any way or just sit it in? And what kind of spackle do you use between concrete board. Last question, should I put concrete board on top of my boards of the tub ledge?

    • @getitdonehomerepair
      @getitdonehomerepair  3 года назад

      Good questions. The tub just sits in the frame and on the ledge of the tub you just add the tile to that.no concrete board. Thanks for watching.

  • @fisterbottoms9139

    I've never seen this before because NEC states you cannot have an outlet by the bathtub. Who the hell does that?
    NEC 406.9 Receptacles in Damp or Wet Locations.
    (C) Bathtub and Shower Space. Receptacles shall not be
    installed within or directly over a bathtub or shower stall.

      Just so you know the outlet was removed as you can see in the video at the 5:00 point. Thank you for your input and advice.
